Holy popsicle sticks, this was excellent. I needed a bit of a palate cleanser and am so glad I picked this up! Very much appreciate her portrayal of the neurodivergent main character - in my humble opinion (and as the mom of an autistic child), she wrote Fern quite well.

Ultimately, I loved this. The first few parts didn‘t seem to mesh with the last part, but it did all end up making some sort of sense (mostly 😂). I can absolutely see why this book gets so much praise. Excellent writing, with a gripping plot that keeps you guessing until almost the last page. I also loved the descriptions of Vermont and how the setting became a bit of a character in itself. Amazing read! Now to read more by @ChrisBohjalian 😊💚

I‘m cheating a little bit, but The Change (Kirsten Miller) is one of my favorite books and all three main characters are absolutely badass. Harriet, Nessa, and Jo - all women of a certain age who come into special powers after they hit menopause (the change, which is a crappy term IMO). More books need to be written about this - the “invisible” women who are much more powerful than everyone thinks 👻 🌱 🔥

I couldn‘t stop with the 2nd so I went ahead and read the 3rd. I wish it wasn‘t the end of the series! Such an awesome combo of humor, mystery, and romance.

How can I even begin to describe this beauty of a book? So many wonderfully drawn characters, an underlying sadness throughout but ultimately so hopeful, so many laugh out loud moments. My favorite read this month by far. Counting as #TBRtarot for August as well 😊

Last minute #readingbracket2023 change - I just finished DKK and it is definitely my August favorite. It even edged out Clover which I LOVED. Just wow.

I started piano lessons in the 2nd grade, and these were the mnemonic devices we used to remember the notes on a staff (treble clef - higher, bass clef - lower). This was a bit ramble-y and drawn out at times, BUT I really liked it. I appreciated how the book brought more attention to crimes committed against women - how so many remain unsolved or not even investigated, how so many victims never get justice. I‘ll admit I wanted the ending to turn out differently (who wouldn‘t?), but admire how it wasn‘t really “resolved.”

This took me down a mini rabbit hole 😂😳 I came across this word in my current read, looked it up, and it doesn‘t mean a creature in Ghostbusters 😂😂
