Way late to this but hopefully it still helps!

1. Wolf (obsessed with wolves right now)
2. I don‘t typically reread a book every October. Though I love finding middle grade horror and reading goosebumps.
4. I do, but I have so many Halloween socks!
5. Corpse Bride and Nightmare Before Christmas
6. Reese‘s or anything chocolate and peanut butter (but not the holiday shape ones because I can‘t eat those. They aren‘t gluten free).

Here are the words you should be looking for while reading. This is a month long event. You get 10pts for every word you find.

Tip: if you read on kindle, I think you can just search for the word in your book. I‘ve never done it, but that‘s what I heard.

DieAReader Random (stupid🤦🏻‍♀️) question regarding audiobooks & points. I know an audiobook counts the same points as a physical book but, what I‘m wondering is this: do people count the full length book time ie. 22 hrs or the actual time it took to read ie. 11 hrs if you listen at 2x speed? Oh & are the readathon points stackable like previous years? (edited) 2w
Laughterhp @DieAReader Yes!! I appreciate you adding the #rushathon on there! 2w
Laughterhp @DieAReader It took me way too long to figure out what you were asking 🤣. So usually I do it based on now long it actually took me to read the book. I do 2x speed, so if a book is 12 hours, it probably took me 8 or 9 hours. So I would count the actual time. 2w
DieAReader @Laughterhp ❤️‍🔥Np & ty! That‘s how I count it too but all of a sudden wasn‘t sure lol. Was having a moment🤦🏻‍♀️ 2w

Gwen is still dealing with the courts to be named a “sane” person. Iris is debating her relationship with Archie. This has more matchmaking and relationships as well.

RainyDayReading For the sake of culling down my TBR for the month I‘m trying to make sure I‘ve got books that fit our theme but I‘m not confident that I fully grasp #magicalmonsters. Is it any book that has a monster? I‘m guessing based on the buddy read books that witches and ghosts count? Just want to make sure I get my points right for the books. 6d
Laughterhp @RainyDayReading we actually aren‘t doing it by team theme this year. You get 50 for 1 of the buddy reads and then 25 for Halloween books, 20 for spooky, autumn, mystery, thriller etc. and then 10pts for any other books. 5d
RainyDayReading @Laughterhp Gotcha! I think the fact we have a team name is what confused me. Either that or I read the points breakdown when I clearly wasn‘t awake enough. 4d

I got a free arc of this book from BookSirens.

So this book says it‘s second in a series but can be read as a stand alone. However, a lot of what happens in this book centers around a previous story that I would recommend reading first. I didn‘t read it first and felt a bit loss. I would have preferred to read to have the backstory.

Omg this book was just delightful!! I basically listened to it in a day. A body shows up in Vera‘s tea shop one day. And she‘s convinced it‘s murder. The cops don‘t. So she posts an obituary to see who shows up.

It turns into a found family story. You get multiple points of view from all the people who were affected by the dead person.

Would definitely recommend!

Decided I wanted to reread this series. Though I don‘t know if I ever finished the whole series or read the last book.

However, I‘m not sure if I‘m going to be able to continue with this on audio. I absolutely hated Lissa‘s voice. It was so high pitched and childish, it was annoying.

It‘s been a while since I‘ve read a historical fiction but it was just what I needed. I have been so stressed out and anxious that I need low key, not stressful books.

This was a quick fun easy read.

Set in New Orleans, a dead body shows up outside of Ofelia‘s bar. She starts to investigate. The cop is dreamy that she works with. This is definitely a cozy mystery romance. Though the other death was a bit dark for a cozy.

This is a supernatural story. The bar is mostly for supernaturals unless you can find it (it‘s a speakeasy). Ofelia is a witch. The cop is secretive of what he is at first.

This is the 2nd book in the series. You probably want to read them in order because this character is introduced in it and the world. Her friends from the first book also show up a lot in this one.

Penny is a familiar without a witch. Her parents are familiars. I liked this book but it drove me nuts how much she complained they don‘t take care of her at 30 yrs old.

Will is a giant stick in the mud but starts to open up and relax more w Penny

Laughterhp I get that her parents didn‘t pay attention to her and she had to raise herself since 16 because they got their matches. And they were really crappy in the one scene their in. But she was still living at home at 30 and expecting them to take care of her… I‘m 33 and haven‘t lived with any parents since I was like 24 and even then I did everything myself. Maybe they did my laundry but didn‘t feed me.. idk it just really bugged me. 1mo

Hi! I need help!

I accidentally borrowed a book on Libby that doesn‘t have a kindle version. I get arcs that are epub and I email them to my kindle and then the book is on my kindle.

I downloaded this as an epub but it didn‘t actually download as an epub. It said acsm file (or something like that). And it wouldn‘t go to my kindle.

Now what do I do?! Can I just not read this book now?

BethM I think just read it in the libby app? 1mo

Ruthiella Yes, I just read those on my phone in the Libby app. 1mo

dabbe I'm worthless with tech stuff. Sorry! 1mo
HeyT so epub files down load as acsm files because you have to run them through a program called Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) for decrypting the DRM. I don't think kindle connects to ADE. ADE is really annoying and the bane of my existence because I have a kobo and have to use it for all my epub borrows. Also Adobe Support is very not helfpful about ADE because I doubt they even know how it works. There are some really funny flames on the support pages (edited) 1mo
Laughterhp @HeyT Yeah, I realized there are 2 type of epub files. So I guess I‘m just going to return this book and get a different version. 😕 1mo
HeyT @Laughterhp When I used to use kindle more on new books in Libby I would check the formats on the loan before accepting. I've noticed that new books tend to have a two or three week delay for kindle titles sometimes so I would push my hold out until kindle became available. 1mo

This was a fun novel. Didn‘t realize it was set in Australia at first (not that that matters).

The book starts off with death, has death in the middle and a few other places. The family dynamic was interesting and I like the way the story unraveled. The audio was really enjoyable too.

This wasn‘t a stressful mystery for me to read, so I really enjoyed this book.

Not this books fault at all, but I am so sick of pandemic books. This one was on me because I just added it to my TBR because I really like this author.

I like the way this story unraveled and is told from 3 viewpoints. This pandemic is different and is called red eye. (Reminded me of doctor who).

This book is set during a snowstorm. And has a lot of death and violence in it.

Unfortunately I read 2 WWII novels back to back not realizing it. Tommy gets contacted to find some German spies in an English village. But Tuppence isn‘t allowed to know and she shows up there anyway. They then work together but apart because they can‘t let anyone know they know each other.

These aren‘t my favorite books. I like Poirot, Battle and Marple much more! But I do enjoy Hugh Fraser.

Honestly, I read @wanderinglynn ‘s review on goodreads and it gave me the strength to bail!

Laughterhp Just realized this might be an #unpopularopinion 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ 2mo
julesG Right there with you! I hated it, too. 2mo
wanderinglynn Glad my review could help! I know Frost is a popular author, but I really struggle to understand the 4+ star rating on this book. 2mo

I have a friend reading with me this evening.

*Is still sitting on my knee as I post this.

Aims42 I am the worst with bugs! I would‘ve probably thrown my book, fallen off the chair, and ended up with a bruise 😂 2mo
Laughterhp @Aims42 Haha I usually am too! But I love dragonfly‘s! I did yell when it first flew at me but we are best friends now. 😂 2mo
Aims42 @Laughterhp LOL! I‘m glad it didn‘t startle you too badly and you got a reading buddy! 😍 2mo

CatLass007 I‘m awful about bugs. Always have been. I like the concept of dragonflies much more than I like the reality. 2mo
dabbe Pretty high on my why-I-love-my-husband list is “Matt! Get this bug! Hurry! AUGH!!!!!!“ Though dragonflies are really cool--from a distance. 🤣 2mo
Laughterhp @dabbe 🤣🤣🤣 I typically do the same thing! Especially if they‘re in the house. 2mo
CBee How cool!! I love bugs - well, most of them. If I see a cockroach that dude is dead 😳😳😂😂 2mo

This was a light, fun book. Set in a town where it is Halloween everyday. That way the vampires, werewolf‘s etc., can kind of be out in the open but still hidden to the normal people.

Delaney is running from the mob after seeing her boss kill someone. She ends up in Georgia after stealing someone‘s folder for a mail order bride system.

It‘s silly but it was a fun romance. I‘ll definitely continue this series. #serieslove2023

TheSpineView I enjoyed this one too. I have not read the others yet. So I will be interested in your thoughts. 2mo
wanderinglynn Sounds like fun! I‘ll add it to my Oct TBR. 🎃 2mo
Laughterhp @wanderinglynn Yes! It would be perfect for October! 2mo

Dead Witch Walking | Kim Harrison

So I asked for recommendations based on my love of the Stay a Spell series. This one was recommended to me. Just because she is witchy. This one isn‘t as cozy as those books were.

Rachel quits her job and her boss puts a hit out on her. She has to try to not get killed while solving a mystery. She‘s a witch, lives with a vampire and pixies. There are demons and werewolves and all the creatures.

I‘ll probably continue with this series.

TheSpineView Love finding a good series! 2mo
Andrew65 Doing great 👏👏👏 2mo

Finished the 2nd book in the Riley Jenson series. It‘s been a while since I‘ve read the first one, so I had to play a bit of catch up.

Riley wakes up in some weird facility. She escapes with a werehorse. She does a lot of guardian work even though she doesn‘t want to. Lots of sex, hot guys and going undercover.

I really enjoyed this book and can‘t wait to read the next one!

Finished this one about a week ago. This is the 5th book in the series and mostly follows V and a surgeon Jane. These books all have kind of weird endings for me. They‘re romance so they have a slight HEA, but a weird HEA.

Yay, photos!! I‘ve been avoiding litsy the last few days. Who wants to scroll through gray blobs?

Anyways, behind on reviews as always.

This is the 2nd book in the series. It follows Rose who was going to be head witch but stepped down and is now trying to find her thing. She gets in trouble and has to work community service at an animal sanctuary with a grumpy hot vet. It‘s a romance so you know what happens. 😊

Liked this one A LOT! So good

Decided to read some Charlaine Harris. This is the first book in the Midnight, Texas series. It was pretty interesting and I did not see that ending coming! I‘ll definitely be continuing the series.
