This was a great historical fiction. I was immediately enthralled and couldn‘t put it down. There is intrigue, spies, great strong women, awful sexist men and 2 great stories that intertwine.

I‘ve never read A Cold War/Russian book before. I was very interested in the history. The timeline confused me a little, but I just took a second and looked through the dates again to confirm.

Now I need more books in this time period!

Today was such a long day! Did a lot of driving. Had a baptism this morning and the party afterwards. Then had to drop my hubby at the airport 😫. He‘s away for training for the rest of the month, so I‘m trying to read so I don‘t get sad.

Getting started with this book. It‘s pretty good, but I‘m so tired tonight! We‘ll see how far I get.

My latest library haul. I‘ve been in the mood to read historical fiction lately, so I hope this book is good.

Per the librarian I have to read the tagged one first because it‘s a 14 day loan because one person recommended it and now it‘s super popular. #reesesbookclub

I didn‘t really like this book. I thought the idea of it was great and it started off good. I got to a certain point and just thought it was stupid. The drama between Emmy, Bill and Bunty was dumb. I don‘t know if it‘s because of the time it was set it or what, but I just didn‘t care for it. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

This wasn‘t great. I didn‘t like Slappy‘s interludes through out the audiobook. He was supposed to be like a creepy dummy.

I keep trying to read Goosebumps books, but I just don‘t enjoy them as much as I did when I was a kid. I also have to constantly remind myself when listening that this what a middle grade book.

This mystery was really good! It was a little gruesome, it was creepy and very atmospheric. It is set in Scotland during the Victorian era. Same time period as Jack the Ripper. The PM is afraid their is a copycat in Scotland.

Warning: There are a LOT of typos and missing words. I don‘t know if it‘s because it‘s Scotland dialect, or not good editing.

I‘m going to continue this series, but there better not be as many typos!

I‘m a little nervous about the other book. It sounds really good, but I really haven‘t been into YA lately. So I‘m hoping it isn‘t too YA! (If that makes sense)

Melissa_J Is that fantasy novel being billed as YA? It is being sold as regular fantasy here, not YA. 3w
Laughterhp @Melissa_J Yes.. it was in the YA section for BOTM.. if it‘s not actually YA that‘s great and I‘ll probably enjoy it more. 3w

Gah! There are so many typos or missing words in this book and I don‘t know if it‘s just me or supposed to be that way!?!

To me, this should say, “it is common for violinists to exhibit a reddish mark ALONG the chin and neck.”

This just says “mark a the chin and neck.”

There is also a lot of “I said” missing and instead just says “said” with no I.

It‘s very annoying! 🤪

But I am loving this mystery!

Plus all the books for #readingwomenchallenge, #booked2019, #readharderchallenge and #probooknerdschallenge

If I tried to finish all challenges, I‘d have to read 10 books a month only challenge books. Which would put a damper on the rest of my year! So now I decide which challenge to bail on.

TheSpineView I find it hard to complete challenges because they can be limiting. I almost feel boxed in by what someone else wants me to read. If I do a challenge, I use it as a guideline to inspire me instead of a dictator of what I should read. 3w

I‘ve been struggling to get into a book the last couple of days. I‘ve tried reading the first chapter of about 4 books and none of them have been grabbing me.

I picked this one up today and I‘m hoping it‘ll stick! This book is this month‘s Sword & Laser Pick.
