“I am not who you think I am; I am not who I think I am; I am who I think you think I am”
“I am not who you think I am; I am not who I think I am; I am who I think you think I am”
Hi people,
Are there any Litsy non-fiction reading groups? Thanks. Remember never trust a sock after it‘s been in a dryer alone
Hello, don‘t you know me?
I‘m the dirt beneath your feet
The most important fool
You will never meet
I notice that grin
We notice that grin
They catch that grin upon your cheeks
Young ones weep
Young ones howl
We notice that grin on your cheeks
We watch your joy
We hear your praise
Taking them away every day
You watch them sob
You look away
Soon, they‘ll strike your cheek
Match their steps
Hold your tongue
Just to live your life

I wonder if you would remember me.
Hope consists in asserting that despair is not the last word.
— Gabriel Marcel, Homo Viator
Reading this book was painful, but in the right way. It gave language to things I‘ve felt but couldn‘t explain. It helped me realize I wasn‘t broken or alone. There are stories in it that made me cry—because I saw myself in them. Jamison writes with such care and respect for every life, even the ones lost.
I think this book might have saved me a little, or at least made me feel like I was worth saving.

Can I stand in your light just for a while?
I need someone
I needed someone
It‘s been awhile since I‘ve been this depressed. It‘s such a recognizable feeling. I‘ve fought hard and I‘ve wanted so much for things to change for the better. Suicidal thoughts are never pleasant. But there‘s a comfort in being sad, that Id be lying if I said didn‘t feel warmly familiar and inviting. The difference is I now know that better days can be ahead, and that they‘re worth fighting for.
“When Christianity is used as a means to an end — especially a political end — it ceases to be Christianity. It becomes just another badge for tribal identity“

Hang on, son of mine
A storm is blowing up your horizon
Changes come
Keep your dignity
Take the high road
Take it like a man
This book is absolutely fascinating. The ocean is wondrous. My son is a marine biology major (he‘s currently double majoring) and he recommended this read. Hope you have a good day. About as good as possible in the hellscape we live in.
It was nice to be around people fighting fascism, oligarchy, and for basic human decency. Solidarity with all those who went out today.

Now that the smoke's gone
And the air is all clear
Those who were right there
Got a new kind of fear
You fight and you were right
But they were just too strong
They stick it in your face
And let you smell what they consider wrong

You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.

Pay no mind what other voices say
They don't care about you, like I do
Safe from pain & truth & choice & other poison devils
See, they don't give a fuck about you, like I do
Just stay with me, safe and ignorant
Go back to sleep, go back to sleep
Lay your head down child
I won't let the boogeyman come
Count the bodies like sheep
To the rhythm of the war drums
Go back to sleep

Happy International Workers day! Unions made the labor market better for all workers. They helped to stop the exploitation of laborers. 8 hour work day, child labor laws and much more. The tagged book is a good read on the subject. Be safe out there. Remember the Haymarket Affair.

1) Yes, 483 books. Mostly curated. I don‘t have a lot of space plus I‘m old and the font from an e-reader is often easier on the eyes.
2) The Magnetic Fields.

Picked this book up today. Looked really interesting. Have a good Sunday folks.
I went to Hey Books in San Diego honestly not knowing that today was independent bookstore day. I thought there was a book signing because the line was way out the door. I managed to survive the crowd pharmaceutical free! I bought the tagged book and an “Eat the Rich” sticker. I Hope you all are having a great day.
This one‘s up next. It‘s a reread. Being lost in the hush of an endless dusk these days makes book like this comforting.

1) Not usually. I need to start carrying some so when the revolution begins I can use it to buy stuff before the whole system collapses and it becomes tissue paper.
2)Miss Havisham is rich and she‘s FN nuts! But not rich enough for me to spend the remaining minutes of my life rereading the god awful book she‘s in.

“The sensation that the world is slowly dying feels good.”
Reread time. Society is collapsing under the weight of its own contradictions—economic, social, and environmental. Individuals should begin organizing outside the state. This a blueprint for revolutionary action. Yesterday protest went well. We need to keep at it. We need to do more.
Who else fucks with Choose Your Own Adventure books? I can never find the one I enjoyed most as a kid. Hell I don‘t even remember its title but it has to do with a ranch hand during the Wild West. Happy whatever you celebrate day.
I hate night time.
1) My 20th wedding anniversary was on Tuesday
2) I was paid a nice compliment that made my day
3) I had more good days than bad
4) It‘s a short week. I love 9/80 schedules.
5) I‘m watching The Price is Right as I type this. I hope someone plays Plinko

Isn‘t it strange how so many words in a conversation can say so little? gods how I long for a meaningful conversation. I‘m surrounded by people but feel so lonely. I feel as I‘ve been sad so long that I‘m addicted to feeling that way. There‘s a comfort in it. But fuck Im trying, and I‘ll keep on trying.

1) Last night I did. I pay every year. I paid more in taxes than Nike, AT&T, Charter, Duke Energy,Kinder Morgan and the list goes on. But the single mom on food stamps is the problem.

Abridged books!!! Who the fuck buys these? It‘s literary vandalism!!! People say it‘s for kids, let kids read the whole thing. Abridged books feel like someone chewed your meal for you and handed it back — it might technically be “digestible,” but the soul of it is gone. They‘re like fucking cliff notes in my opinion. Only one authors work should be abridged and thats Dickens.

What‘s your favorite collection of short stories and or essays? Welcome to the Monkey House is one of my favorites. Which would you recommend?
I finally got one!! I‘ve been tagging this book since 2018 (for those that don‘t know my name is George). It‘s been out of print since 2019 since it‘s from a small independent author. It cost a bit for what it is but I finally found a used copy. I got it from Abe‘s books. Seems interesting too. @Yuki_Onna
I took this photo in 2017 at the height of my mental health struggles and significant depression. Appearances are meaningless. Everyone wants to present themselves in a way that often conflicts with how they actually feel inside. I‘ve been off medication for almost one year (except for anxiety). For the first time in my life I feel like there might be a grain of truth to what many people have said & that I dismissed. It can get better.
I want to feel like more
More than this routine
Than this loneliness that hums beneath everything.
I want to feel like I was meant—

If we had a keen vision and feeling of all ordinary human life, it would be like hearing the grass grow and the squirrel's heart beat, and we should die of that roar which lies on the other side of silence
We are nothing but perpetual animals. What‘s the use of these huge fragile enthusiasms, these dried-out leaps of joy? We know nothing but dead stars; we look at faces; and we sigh with pleasure. Our eyes turn aimlessly, hopelessly. There‘s nothing now but these cafés where we meet to drink these cold beverages, these mixed drinks, and the tables are stickier than these sidewalks where our dead shadows from the day before have fallen.
