My library just purchased the tagged ebook for me!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 I hope it lives up to my excitement. 😁🎉

I‘m also reading another Corey Whaley book. My review of Highly Illogical Behavior will be later tonight because it fits tomorrow‘s May Movie Magic and Star Trek Summer May‘s prompts perfectly.

I will say that JCW writes very mature (adult, not sexy) YA. I can always read him! 👍🏻📚

The basic unit of #Inheritance is the gene, and Mukherjee does a wonderful job explaining it in a way that is interesting for scientists and non-scientists alike. I‘ve listened to this is an audiobook twice, and highly recommend it that way. The narration is excellent. 🎧👍🏻👩🏻‍⚕️

Today is Kentucky‘s primary election for five top state officials, including Governor! My dad is working at a different place than where I vote, and he says turnout is low at his precinct.

Highly Illogical Behavior | John Corey Whaley

I just started this great #StarTrekSummerMay / #MayMovieMagic tie-in

Solomon Reed hasn‘t left his house in years. Lisa Praytor wants to take him on as a project to give #SecondChances to return to school. But Solomon is wondering, “#WhereIsMyMind?” with his severe OCD and panic attacks. However, he has a secret place to escape, the holodeck, modeled on ST:TNG‘s no less, he built in his garage.

Cinfhen This sounds too YA for me but I‘ll be curious to hear your final thoughts 💖 2d
Megabooks @Cinfhen YA to me is like roasted turnips - I want it just a couple of times a year - and I can‘t convince anyone else in my family to try it! 😂😂 Whaley is one of the best YA authors out there. His books elevate the conversation a bit. 2d
Cinfhen Ha!! Love that analogy!!! Roasted turnips sounds good actually!!!!! 2d

I really enjoyed this book when it was first released, and now I‘m glad to have the audiobook. The MC has to give up her #ImaginaryFriend when she goes to school.

Fortunately, my parents didn‘t make me give up my imaginary trips with the Enterprise crew, but they stopped when I was about eight. 😂😂

What a fantastic little book! It definitely reminded me of Mr. Grammar on here, @MrBook 😁😉💙 Dreyer makes punctuation, grammar, spelling, and word use fun. While my writing isn‘t as good as it was in college, thanks vet school 🙄, I thoroughly enjoyed this, and hopefully it will improve my writing. I will probably purchase a copy. 4.5⭐️

Megabooks @Kaye Thanks! 😊 I‘m hoping I can start doing short audiowalks soon. It‘s so hard to cut down on soft drinks. Sigh. Especially since I take a lot of sedating meds. We Sold Our Souls | Grady Hendrix
post image

#DevilsDue is a fun, IMO, episode where an entire planet believes they‘ve sold their souls to the devil. 🙄😉😏 Of course the crew foils her plans.

Grady Hendrix is my only current horror auto-buy author. His latest book (tagged) is about a band selling their souls to the devil, but I recommend all his books, especially on audio!

WhatWouldJaneDo Love Grady Hendrix! His Paperbacks from Hell newsletter is fantastic also 4d
Megabooks @WhatWouldJaneDo I have not yet that read book from him. I don‘t think I‘d get as much enjoyment because I didn‘t read those 70s-80s horror paperbacks. I was too busy reading Star Trek paperbacks and science nonfiction! (edited) 3d

Small Fry | Lisa Brennan-Jobs

What should I read next? I‘m leaning towards Small Fry because there was a long line at the library. Any suggestions Littens? @Reviewsbylola are you enjoying the 9/11 book?

Drocchio03 I read Prep years ago and remember not loving it; curious to hear what you think when you get to it. Also had Small Fry in my hand at the library this afternoon - but my TBR stack was already so big! 🙂📚 4d
mhillis I vote for Small Fry!! 4d
Megabooks @Drocchio03 I read the first 10 pages of Prep and wasn‘t grabbed by it, but I generally like boarding school stories. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have been on the waitlist for Small Fry for awhile. I feel I should read it, but I‘m not sure it‘s what I‘m in the mood for. I‘m a terrible mood reader!!! 4d
See All 18 Comments
Megabooks @mhillis Did you enjoy it?? I‘m for sure leaning that way. 4d
Megabooks @mhillis If for no other reason than I don‘t want to wait in line again!!!! 4d
Megabooks @LeahBergen @shawnmooney Did y‘all read McGlue? What did you think? @L_auren Did I see it on your Instagram?? 4d
mhillis @Megabooks I haven‘t read it yet but it‘s the next book club pick on the podcast Happier with Gretchen Rubin! 4d
Drocchio03 @Megabooks I can relate! My TBR list never shrinks because I‘m always grabbing new books that pique my interest that moment! 4d
LeahBergen We are starting to read it next weekend! 😀 4d
Megabooks @mhillis I started it, and it‘s pretty good so far! 4d
Megabooks @Drocchio03 Oh, that is totally me, too! 4d
Megabooks @LeahBergen I ended up starting Small Fry and Fall and Rise. You know how I am with nonfiction. 😏 I may end up reading McGlue next weekend, too. 4d
Reviewsbylola I finished it last night! 5 stars. I also loved Prep. 3d
Megabooks @Reviewsbylola I got about 75 pages in. I‘m liking it too. Mentally preparing to have my heart torn in half! 3d
L_auren @Megabooks DNF‘d McGlue! Weird because I‘m usually crazy for her work.. 5h
L_auren I wanna read prep soon! 5h
Megabooks @L_auren It sounds quite odd. Different than her other stuff. 5h
Megabooks @L_auren I‘m, of course, reading the two nonfiction books, but I might bail on Jobs‘s. Kinda mediocre. 5h

This talks about the search to find a drug to combat bacterial #Contagion. It has a wonderful historical overview of the #LittlestThings that have caused major problems in history. I‘m going to recommend two other books about bacteria and drugs in the comments. All three are great #audiobooks, too. I highly recommend these books for pharm/science/history nerds!

Cinfhen BTW: I‘m allergic to all Sulfa antibiotics 🤪 5d
Megabooks @Cinfhen I‘m allergic too! I Contain Multitudes would be a good place to start. It‘s the most “pop science” of the three. 😁😁 5d

rohit-sawant Great post! Appreciate the reccs! 5d
Crazeedi I love to read books medical, etc. I'm checking all these out! Thank you! 5d
gradcat I‘m like @Cinfhen ... in more ways than one: I, too, love nonfiction but am a bit scared of the sciencey ones, plus, I have a severe allergy to sulfa antibiotics as well ... go figure! But you do make these books sound very interesting....👍 Oops, I see that @Megabooks also has that allergy—I think it is fairly common, right? 💉🧫😂 (edited) 5d
jb72 I love nonfiction books especially science based ones. 5d
Megabooks @KateFulfordAuthor I hope you enjoy it! 4d
Megabooks @rohit-sawant I hope you try one! 😁👍🏻 4d
Megabooks @Crazeedi Awesome! Enjoy! 4d
Megabooks @gradcat well, sulfa is a molecular side-chain used in dye making, as opposed to something natural like the penicillin mold, so that may be why there are more allergies. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4d
Megabooks @jb72 Me too! 👍🏻👍🏻 4d
gradcat Goodness @megabooks ! Who knew!?! 🤣🧐 4d
SW-T I have to stay off your feed 🤣You always post about such interesting books! Another one for my TBR list 🤗 3d

This may be a new top five favorite book!

It is a wonderful commentary on modern society and how women must be “figured out” and fit in the role of being a wife/mother OR a high-achieving career woman.

For the MC, her friends, family & coworkers all can‘t figure out why she‘s thirty-six, unmarried, no children & has a dead-end job. Spoiler alert: It‘s because she doesn‘t owe it to them to be “figured out.” ✊🏻 This book speaks to me!

Megabooks @Caterina Thanks! I made it when things were worse in my life, and now that things are better, I wish I had made a larger one! 5d
Megabooks @rubyslippersreads It‘s really good. I was surprised. 5d
batsy It spoke to me, as well. A most intriguing book, though I also felt the underlying darkness/sadness. Great review! @rubyslippersreads 5d
Megabooks @batsy It makes me want to read more Japanese fiction! And thank you 😊 5d
Cinfhen I just found this book so sad. It was too much dark humor for my personal taste. 5d
Megabooks @Cinfhen That‘s interesting because I found the message hopeful. As a single, childfree 39 year old who has worked a lot of different jobs, I like that she resisted trying to be pigeonholed by family and friends just to fit in. She was true to herself in the end. 5d
Cinfhen That‘s a great way to describe her and I see where you are coming from. I guess I was put off by the repetitive talk of “being normal” and “not normal” I found it painful in a way. Maybe it was in the translation that I took it too literal. I would try this author again. 5d
Megabooks @Cinfhen Me too. And I want to read more Japanese fiction. I have this one on #audible. I think it‘s on #hoopla (edited) 5d
Cinfhen I‘ll look for it ~ thanks 😘 5d

Megabooks @Cinfhen Yes, definitely a good father‘s day present! More geared to a young father, but my 70 year old dad LOVED it! 5d
Cinfhen How‘s dad liking the car???? My dad is 75 ( I wonder if he‘d like this book) He loves reading again now that he retired. What book can u suggest. He prefers NF or espionage/ medical thrillers 5d
Megabooks My dad likes a lot of the true crime I‘ve gotten into like American Kingpin (his fav) and American Pain. The Mastermind is his next read. He also likes David Sedaris. He did not like The Feather Thief. If your dad likes to laugh, he‘d enjoy the Backman. My dad loves the car!! Things are much more settled around here now that he has it. 5d

This book is so earnest it kills me. But I guess I probably took myself too seriously in high school, too. It‘s an interesting read, if for nothing else than how much the conversation has moved on birth control, sex, homosexuality, abortion, teen pregnancy, etc.

I wanted this book to be beautiful. I remembered it as beautiful. But it‘s messy because life as an addict and life with an addict is chaos.

I was not a fan of My 600 lb Life when I first read this for the #botmchallenge, but Greg and GJ‘s lives mirror so many parent-child relationships you see on that show. Sometimes I can‘t bear to watch people fall deeper into their addictions and dysfunction, though.

#BFC #BookFitnessChallenge Book 2/8

L_auren I liked this book. I also used to like My 600 Lb Life but after a while it bummed me out too much 1w
Megabooks @L_auren This season has been especially horrible. I don‘t know if I can keep watching. 1w
Bookwormjillk Yikes, sounds troubling. Good work on the challenge though. 1w

wanderinglynn I watched an episode, but it‘s not my show at all. But yay for you for getting another book done for #BFC! 🙌🏻 1w
Megabooks @Bookwormjillk It‘s a hard read. I read it so differently each time. It‘s really heartbreaking. 1w
Megabooks @wanderinglynn Thanks. I enjoyed the first 4-5 seasons of 600 lb because Dr. Now was so much more positive, but he yells so much, and there‘s this terrible counselor that just has them talk about painful stuff and doesn‘t seem to follow up. I looked her up through the licensing board in Texas, and I had never heard of either of the schools she went to. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ 1w
Megabooks @Bookwormjillk Thank you re: the challenge!! 😁 You, too @wanderinglynn 😁👍🏻 1w
Caterina Sounds like a tough read! Good job getting 1/4 of the way there with your book goals! 1w
Megabooks @Caterina Thank you! I‘m so glad you‘re feeling well enough to go walking! Good day! 😊💙👍🏻 1w

This book is incredible. It‘s American Kingpin & American Pain on steroids. If you like true crime & international criminal conspiracies, you‘ll love this!

It‘s about the takedown of a man who started running an internet pharmacy that prescribed addictive non-scheduled drugs over the internet, but then it exploded to contract killings, throwing over governments, & making deals with North Korea & Iran. 5⭐️

Quite a #Manhunt #StarTrekSummerMay #BFC

Megabooks Thanks for the rec @Cinfhen ! #BFC Book 1 of 8, Audiobook 1 of 2 #BookFitnessChallenge @wanderinglynn 1w
Cinfhen I‘m so glad you liked it!!! I‘m just amazed at what people think they can get away with 🤯 1w
Clwojick This sounds like it would be great on audiobook! I‘ll have to check it out! 1w
Megabooks @Cinfhen I know!! Some of the people were able to slip custody, but greed will get you every time!! 1w
Megabooks @Clwojick I did really enjoy the audiobook, but you kind of have to listen with purpose because there are so many arms of his criminal empire. 1w

Well, #Manhunt isn‘t an episode I relate to much! As an asexual person, I don‘t frequently hit on anyone. 😉
Troi‘s mom comes onboard, and she‘s going through a sort of Betazoid menopause, during which her sex drive quadruples. Again, I really can‘t relate, but you know.

So she falls for this holodeck character, but what she really wants is some Picard, but he‘s not a ladies man like a Kirk.

I‘ll write more when I review The Mastermind later.

AlaMich I remember that episode. Troi‘s mom was a hoot! 😆 1w

#botm has had many good immigrant stories over the years. My favorite was Behold the Dreamers. I wish it weren‘t packed away in storage like ¾ of my books!! ??‍♀️??‍♀️ It‘s a rare time I‘ve agreed with Oprah!!

Cinfhen I didn‘t know the Yoon was a BOTM??? I really enjoyed the other two books!!!! 1w
Megabooks @Cinfhen I think it was December 16. It‘s my least favorite of the three, but maybe that‘s because I‘m not on a ya kick anymore! 😉😉 1w

Megabooks @Cinfhen No libraries in Israel?? If so, that just seems so different!! 1w
Cinfhen No, they have libraries but it kind of ends there. The selections in English are minimal and rather old, you can only check out 2 books (😳) on your account and there is no online requesting or interloan system in place. I spoke to a librarian and a lot has to do with publishing rights 😬🙄😣 1w
Megabooks @Cinfhen Wow! Two books, no online, no interlibrary loan. Smh! Get with it Israel!! I can imagine why they have a small English section. I‘m sure you hear many languages everyday in addition to Hebrew. I‘d miss American libraries, too! 1w

What do you do when #TheEnemy is blonde, blue-eye, and charismatic with just enough knowledge to be dangerous? You give her millions of dollars. 😉

I hope someday someone comes up with an easier way to get blood for testing - maybe a hypospray to the shoulder like ST:TNG and ST:DS9 - but until I see more proof, I‘ll find the claims unbelievable. #StarTrekSummerMay

Well, the trip was worth it. My dad has a car!! I was hoping to get a picture of him with it, but it rained all day, so here are the dealer pictures!! 😂😂😂 Many of us, Dad and me included, love all the new, modern tech in our cars!

Home safe but exhausted. It wasn‘t a good #BFC day because of all the eating out, but I‘m nearly done with The Mastermind #audiobook @Cinfhen 👍🏻

Cinfhen 71 is sooooo young!!!!! It‘s odder to think a new car might actually last 20 years 😜😜😜 2w
Megabooks @Cinfhen I don‘t particularly think he‘s old at 71. He‘s mentally fine (thank God) and can still lift 130 lbs, walk 3 miles easily, and stand all day working the election polls (his dream in retirement was to be a poll worker 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️). He‘s amazing! I expect he‘ll outlive the car, but I don‘t want to shatter his illusions. 😉😉☺️ 2w

#FutureImperfect #StarTrekSummerMay

I‘ve read about a number of imperfect futures that I seriously hope don‘t come true. I started with the YA series, like The Hunger Games, Divergent, and The Uglies, but later I started reading a few adult dystopian novels. Many of them frighten me! But I continue reading them.

BarbaraBB Great collage! I enjoy reading dystopian novels a lot. Which I am surprised of myself, since I don‘t like SF, fantasy and YA. What is your favorite? 2w
Cinfhen Same @BarbaraBB !!!! Have you read 2w

#Violations was probably my first introduction to rape, & I think, at 11, I was too young to understand it.

When I rewatched the series at 25, this was one of the harder episodes for me to watch. I still don‘t watch it often.

I read Missoula a couple of years ago. It was hard also, but no longer shocking. I want to read Not That Bad, but I have to be in the right mindset, & I just haven‘t been there yet.

Curious to see what other Trekkies think

GlassAsDiamonds Not at all tempted by the Gay (wasn‘t a fan of anything other than the Bad Feminist essay in Bad Feminist, for all that that one essay was spectacular) but devoted Trekkie. I‘m conflicted over the episode - You always knew they‘d push the boundaries where possible so it‘s often not “mindless” entertainment... but it was a well done episode. Hmm 🤔🤔🤔 2w
Megabooks @GlassAsDiamonds I am a big fan of Roxane Gay‘s nonfiction. I liked Bad Feminist, and I loved Hunger. I think this was definitely a boundary-pushing episode as far as what they‘d put on TV, but I think it‘s also very 90s as well. The conversation about consent, etc. has changed so much in 30 years. 2w
See All 10 Comments
tournevis @GlassAsDiamonds It was well done, true, but I'm never watching that epi again, which means not seeing the great Keiko scene, but there you go. 2w
Megabooks @tournevis @tournevis The Keiko part was definitely the best part! 2w
tournevis @Megabooks Such a good scene! 2w
GlassAsDiamonds @tournevis yeah, I won‘t be rushing to re-watch it either (but Keiko forever!!!!!!!!!). I‘m impressed on reflection that the victims weren‘t “just” female, especially for the age of the show. @Megabooks I don‘t mind that the conversation has changed (but I‘m an avid reader of 1800‘s pulp fiction & a tad obsessed with context). I am a little concerned that just how ground breaking it was could be lost on a 2019 audience using a 2019 lense? 2w
tournevis @GlassAsDiamonds Good point about the gender of the victims, although 2/3... And you're right about consent. Troy is the only one to explicitly say no don't in this. I'm just tired of Troy and O'Brien getting abused and assulted. It was rape Troy and torture O'Brien. Could they not find another story to tell? 2w
GlassAsDiamonds @tournevis Troy does seem to be the sacrificial lamb for a good number of storyline‘s doesn‘t she.... 🤔🤔🤔🤔 I cant remember enough of the O‘Brien storyline‘s! 2w
tournevis @GlassAsDiamonds PTSD on top of PTSD on top of near death experiences on top of prison torture. 2w

#TheChase is one of my favorite episodes. In it, the major aliens in the show and the Enterprise crew are in a race to gather DNA samples from various planets to put together to solve a puzzle.

I thought the message was positive, and it explained why all the aliens look similar 😉

One of my favorite chase-centered books & movies is Catch Me If You Can. It was one of my favorite pieces of nonfiction when I started reading again after vet school.

Megabooks #StarTrekSummerMay PS I‘m sorry #Liaisons was such an unpopular choice. Please don‘t watch tomorrow‘s episode #Violations if rape is a TW for you. 💜 2w
khooliha I don't think you need to feel bad about Liaisons! It falls in the weird realm of season 7, where sometimes episodes feel a little half-baked because of planning for the finale/Generations. I think it just needed a little more polish. 2w
khooliha As for Violations... the thing about it is that is a sadly typical episode for Deanna, who deserved better from the writers almost everytime they decided to make her the focus of the ep. 2w
See All 36 Comments
Megabooks @khooliha Yes, TNG had one of the worst final seasons of any Trek. I on the other hand, DS9‘s was pretty good. 2w
Megabooks @khooliha Marina was a better actress than the treatment she was given. I‘m glad DS9 and VOY had stronger female roles. 2w
khooliha @Megabooks Season 7 of TNG is really ueven, but anything with Lower Decks, All Good Things, and one of my favorite Trek guilty pleasures Genesis can't be all bad. I remember season 7 of DS9 feeling like a rollercoaster, though I'm not sure I could pinpoint why. 2w
khooliha @Megabooks Both Deanna and Beverly were let down by the writers and it's probably the number one thing I wish TNG did better. Imagine if they got the kind of writing Kira, Be'lanna, or Seven did! 2w
Megabooks @khooliha Agree on Lower Decks and Genesis! Just watching Michael Dorn tear up that mattress in Genesis was fun. 😝. I didn‘t love DS9 season 7 until I watched the episodes a second or third time. Now it has some of my fav episodes. I caught Covenant on TV the other day 👍🏻👍🏻! 2w
Megabooks @khooliha Yes! Yes! On the women of the 24th century Treks. 2w
Moodyreader ohhh i love star trek ❤️ 2w
Megabooks @Moodyreader awesome! I‘d love for you to join the photo challenge if you want. You can find it under this book. I‘m doing a different series each month. 😁👍🏻 2w
Avidreader25 I‘m rewatching Star Trek TNG for the first time in years. So good! 2w
tournevis I like this episode too! 2w
tournevis @Megabooks Seconded 2w
tournevis @khooliha @Megabooks Not the writers' fault so much as Rick Berman's. The only reason there were better women characters in DS9 is Ira Behr and in VOY is Mulgrew herself (the fits she had to throw). Berman is a terrible sexist, racist and homophobic para-person. 2w
khooliha @tournevis Oh yeah, Berman is trash. I listened to the 50 Year Mission books and yelled WTF at a lot of his comments. By the end I was boo-ing. 2w
tournevis @khooliha If you get a chance to watch What We Left Behind (coming out next week) on DS9, the whole crew and Ira Behr spend a good third of it shitting on Berman, pardon my French. 2w
khooliha @tournevis I'm going to try to catch the doc in theaters! I'm very excited. 2w
tournevis @khooliha Me too! 2w
Megabooks @Avidreader25 I watched it on dvd 11 years after the last episode and fell in love again! 2w
Megabooks @tournevis @khooliha Yes, I‘ve been hearing about the doc a lot on twitter!! I want to see it. Rick Berman is trash. That‘s all there is! I googled “Rick Berman ruined Star Trek” back when I was doing a rewatch 10 years ago, and no one agreed. What?!??! And Jake and Nog aka the NoJake Consortium have a podcast now. Just FYI if you didn‘t know. 2w
khooliha @Megabooks I did not know that! It is Very Pertinent to my interests. 2w
tournevis @khooliha @Megabooks No gays in ST before Disco? Berman. Terry Farrell got fired? Berman. Seven of Nine? Played by his then girlfriend (Ryan hates him now too). Deanna Troy getting assaulted multiple times in cannon? Berman. He's trash. 2w
Megabooks @tournevis I thought Jeri dated Brannon Braga. And I thought Terry left to do Becker. Does she say something different in the doc? 2w
tournevis @Megabooks So Jeri did date Bragga. But things got “complicated“. Terry did not leave to do Becker. She was forced out because she asked for accommodations to do other work (that the other actors got) and getting fewer storylines, among other crap. So she was fired by Berman. Ira Behr is on record as saying he had not known about the crap she was subjected to and was told by Berman she left of her own volition. 2w
Megabooks @tournevis Interesting. I want to watch the doc!!! I feel bad for Jeri. She‘s dated/married some bad men. (Jack Ryan sex club, anyone?) I‘m really glad Berman is not doing ST anymore. On the lighter side, I think it‘s adorable that Terri is married to Adam Nimoy. I hope they‘re happy. 2w
tournevis @Megabooks Me too. It's a good ending. In the US, I think that the only day the doc will be in theaters is 13 May. In Canada, you get a few more days. I saw theaters advertize it for 13, 15 and 18 May. My ticket is for the 18th. 2w
Megabooks @tournevis @khooliha new Nana Vistor interview https://sciencefiction.com/2019/05/08/exclusive-interview-nana-visitor-talks-sta.... And she‘s in a Lifetime movie this weekend! https://www.mylifetime.com/movies/killer-grandma I‘d be interested to see her as a grandmother!! 2w
tournevis @Megabooks Great interview! As for the movie, not in Canada, looks like. 2w
Megabooks @tournevis It was a great interview! Boo on the movie. I‘ve set up to record it. I love seeing fav ST actors in other roles. 2w
Cinfhen Wow!!! Lots of Trekkie talk!!!! When I see The Chase I think of my lovely friend @jenniferw88 💕💕😁 2w
Megabooks @Cinfhen We Trekkies definitely have opinions!! Have you seen the episode?? I think you put a dozen Trekkies in a room and you‘ll get six dozen ideas about the series, Trek in general, actors, producers, etc! It‘s a really vibrant community! 2w
Cinfhen I‘ve never seen a single episode or any of the films 🙈 can we still be friends?!?!!! 😘😘😘 2w
Megabooks @Cinfhen of course, my dear! 😘😘 It‘s never too late to become a Trekkie, though 😉😉🖖🏻🖖🏻 2w

Hey y‘all. I need some help.

I just came out of a year-long major depression a few months ago, so I feel like I have a tenuous grip on my own health.

Now my dad has started dropping out of helping my mom, & I‘ve become her caregiver over 80% of the time. My mom has mobility problems that continue to worsen. I‘m concerned that my dad may be slipping into a depression himself.

I‘m frustrated & exhausted. I‘d love to talk to people can relate.👇🏻

Megabooks If there‘s anyone in a similar situation that can share some wisdom/commiserate my email is booksandcooks.litsy at gmail dot com. Thanks so much! 🙏🏻 2w
audraelizabeth Im so sorry you are going through that. I have been lucky to not have to be a caregiver yet but watched my grandma do it for 17 years before my grandpa went to the nursing home. If youd like to talk, email me at audraelizabeth19@gmai..com or on here. 2w

Cinfhen Sending love and hugs!!! I know your dad was a huge part of your recovery and I have a soft spot for him. Hoping you all find the strength and support needed❤️ 2w
Megabooks @Cinfhen Thank you! My dad is a wonderful person, and I could not have made it through the past year without him. I hope he‘s not getting depressed himself. He really helped today getting my mom ready for her bridge group. It was a family effort! I‘m hoping he does better when we finally get done with this car business!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 We‘ll but on Saturday!! 2w
Cinfhen Family means everything.....even those moments when u want to strangle them! I‘m glad you all had a better day 😘 2w
Cinfhen And car shopping is stressful...good luck with that 2w
Megabooks @Cinfhen Yes, they do. I‘ve been very lucky to have a close knit, mostly supportive family! We‘ve finally decided on a Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0T Limited Front Wheel Drive White with Beige interior.(Not that Dad‘s specific.😂😉) And we‘ve found a dealership with one in stock at a good price two hours away, so hopefully we can go get it this weekend. 😁😁😁👍🏻 2w
Cinfhen Ha!!! At least dad knows what he likes 😜 2w
Trashcanman I wish you the best, truly. I've been there and I still am going on 4 years and I don't know what to say to make it better. I hope you start feeling again. Hugs 2w
Megabooks @Trashcanman Thank you! I know you understand depression and how easily one can slip out of recovery. Hugs to you, too! 2w

This was a great choice for a #BOTMchallenge reread. I fully blame @Cinfhen @Reviewsbylola and @emilyhaldi for my newfound true crime addiction!

C‘mon please Accommack County, #gimmeshelter! So many old, deserted places were burned down by Charlie and Tonya, including the Whispering Pines resort, pictured. It‘s great that no one died, but I really feel for the volunteer firefighters called out night after night during the arson spree. 4⭐️

Mdargusch I 🖤 true crime! This one had me googling and stalking on FB! 2w
emilyhaldi I‘m due for a good true crime read!!! The best! 2w

Megabooks @emilyhaldi Try this one. Cindy recommended it, and I‘m enjoying it. 2w
Megabooks @Mdargusch oooo...find anything juicy?? I‘m not on fb. This is a really fascinating book!! 2w
Cinfhen I just requested a whole slew of new True Crime books from NetGalley 😬 @emilyhaldi @Megabooks so far I‘ve been approved for 2w
Megabooks @Cinfhen Someday I‘m going to get on Net Galley! It sounds fun! (edited) 2w
EadieB @cinfhen @megabooks @emilyhaldi @Mdargusch
I just requested this month from LibraryThing this true crime book to review:
Trace: Who Killed Maria James? by Brown, Rachael
Mdargusch Sounds good @cinched. I‘ll be waiting for your review. 2w
Mdargusch I will be waiting for your review too @EadieB 2w
EadieB @Mdargusch Gotta wait for it to come in the mail so might be awhile! 2w
Reviewsbylola True crime rocks! And could their pictures be any creepier?! Holy hell! 😣 2w
Megabooks @Reviewsbylola I know! I don‘t know which is worse, the Halloween picture or the mugshots? That is some eyeliner!!!! 2w

In the Star Trek: TNG episode #Liaisons, three ambassadors are sent to the Enterprise to experience three of the seven deadly sins: wrath, gluttony, and lust/love that they don‘t have in their society. It‘s not, erh, one of the best episodes. Pictured is gluttony ambassador.

Tampa is the only book I‘ve read that incorporates all three, and probably all seven. Oh Celeste, you‘re crazy! I use this in every photo challenge! 😂😳 #StarTrekSummerMay

Sometimes you have a bad day and you just need some f$cking Bob Ross before bed. I found this on Hulu. I should be back tomorrow y‘all.

If you‘re joining me on #StarTrekSummerMay day 8 the theme is #Liaisons!

Good night Americas!

kspenmoll My husband used to put himself to sleep to Bob! 2w
LiterRohde Happy little trees do help sometimes! 2w
Librarybelle Bob Ross is perfect after an awful day! 2w
Leftcoastzen 👏😂😀 2w
Megabooks @kspenmoll @LiterRohde @Librarybelle @Leftcoastzen Thanks y‘all. Feeling much better this morning! Sleep is amazing! 2w

There‘s certainly a lack #Ethics on the part of Paul La Roux and some of his associates in this true crime book. The story is so unbelievable, it can‘t be made up!

He‘s got his hand in so many business that are so criminal and personally unethical, it‘s just blown my mind.

Thanks @Cinfhen for the rec. 😘 #StarTrekSummerMay #audiobook #audible

Cinfhen Good choice!!! The story really is bunkers 😆 2w
Megabooks @Cinfhen Truly! I‘m at the part where he‘s looking into catching tuna in Somalia and invading the Scheylles! 2w
Cinfhen I sort of had a soft spot for The Israeli‘s 😂😂😂But man, this story was beyond wild 2w
Megabooks @Cinfhen I feel like there were definitely some people who were duped and there were definitely some out there soldiers of fortune. One of his lieutenants came from my little hometown in Kentucky! 2w

So, after a pep talk from @wanderinglynn (thanks 😘), I am joining the challenge! 🎉

Fitness: I‘m still in the boot, so my goals are eat fruits/veggies 3x a day, less than 12 oz sugary drinks per day (coffee and tea with sugar and soft drinks count 😬), pray twice daily (taking requests!)

Books: Eight books total, at least two of which are audiobooks!

Thanks so much for doing this, Lynn!

Megabooks Lynn, can you add the sugary drinks to mine? I just thought of that! Thanks! 💕💕 2w
Caterina Yayyy welcome! I'm getting gum graft surgery on May 10, and there's so little gum left that it might not take, can you pray for a successful surgery for me? ❤️ I'll pray for your foot to heal and you to get out of the book as soon as possible! ❤️😊 2w
Caterina *boot! Definitely don't get out of books 😂 2w

Megabooks @Caterina Yes, I will pray for you! My aunt has had several gum surgeries and says they‘re terrible. I hope yours goes well. 💜💜💜 I hope I can get out of the boot next week, too. Definitely not books! 👍🏻 2w
wanderinglynn Yay! 🙌🏻 Welcome aboard! And yep, I got your goals. 😘 2w
Megabooks @wanderinglynn Fantastic! Thank you! I really appreciate this. 😊😊😁 (edited) 2w
jb72 I‘m sorry to hear you‘re in a boot. I was in a boot last year for about 4 months as my foot wouldn‘t heal (lack of vitamin D). I hope you feel better soon! 2w
Megabooks @jb72 I am so sorry!! There are many things that suck about a boot!! I‘m finding out next week, after my mri, when I can get out of it. 2w
jb72 @Megabooks sending you good healing vibes that you will get good news! 2w
Megabooks @wanderinglynn Hey! I haven‘t received the email yet, so I emailed you. I could‘ve written my email incorrectly. Thanks! 2w
Megabooks @jb72 Thank you! Very much appreciated!! 👍🏻👍🏻 2w

#DontStopMeNow, I just got back from the doctor, and it doesn‘t look like I‘m going to expire soon, so I‘m celebrating with coffee in my favorite mug that I won during the last @24in48 #readathon! Thanks y‘all! I love it. 🥰🥰 #MayMovieMagic

Megabooks @merelybookish Thank you! It‘s pretty and well made! 2w
wanderinglynn Very cool mug! And glad to hear things went well. 💚 2w
Megabooks @wanderinglynn Thank you! 😊😊 I‘m still mulling over if there‘s a way I can do your book/fitness challenge. My right foot is still in a boot pending an MRI Friday and a doctor‘s appointment next week. I don‘t know if I‘m going to be able to start physical therapy or not. I do walk to the end of my block once a day with my dog. Normally, I walk 1-2 miles 4-5 x a week, but I‘m not sure when I‘ll get back to that. Thoughts? I‘d really like to do it! 2w
wanderinglynn @Megabooks a couple other folks also have physical limitations. So I opened up the fitness to include nutritional fitness (examples: veggies x times per week, take supplements x days) or mental fitness (ex. meditate x days or x minutes). Or if you want physical, what about chair yoga? Or mat Pilates? Some activity where you‘re not standing/impacting your foot. 2w
Megabooks @wanderinglynn Thanks! I have some ideas! 2w
Reviewsbylola I‘m glad you got good news at the doctor! 2w
Megabooks @Reviewsbylola Thanks!! 😊😊 2w

Looking at the #Clues in another #BOTMchallenge book...I went back and listened a second time CAREFULLY to this book. There was only one clue as to who the killer was. That frustrated me. I like books that lead you along, not ones that come up with wacky endings.

I could say the same about Before the Fall as well. Just a bunch of silly red herrings! Sigh.

Gimme some #Clues! #StarTrekSummerMay

Jinster This a thousand times! There is no point to a story if it doesn't provide information. 2w
emilyhaldi Yeah, this book didn‘t do it for me. Especially after all the hype! 2w
Megabooks @Jinster Yaaasss! Agree!! 2w
See All 6 Comments
Megabooks @emilyhaldi The blurb from King on the front. Seriously?!? 2w
Reviewsbylola That‘s so interesting. I remember being blown away by the ending of this one but I completely agree with you. With a good thriller, I would expect to be able to go back and connect the dots on a reread. 2w
Megabooks @Reviewsbylola The only clue was Coop‘s ring being in a picture in the first final girl‘s house. The sorority girl. That‘s it. Smh. 2w

#ThrowbackSaturday #HowFarIllGo #botmchallenge #MayMovieMagic

Oh, Emily, Steph, and Lauren, look what I checked out!! This one of my favorite nonfictions from 2017!

The prompt works because of how far we went reading all 60 #botm back then. It was fun. 😁👍🏻😁 Also, how far will these arsonists go! Six fires in one night with only volunteer fire departments. Just the whole story is crazy!

Reviewsbylola Tonya is one crazy bitch! 2w
Megabooks @Reviewsbylola if I could put a truth sticker here, I would! 2w
Cinfhen Was this one of your firsts?!?!!?? Such a crazy story 2w
See All 11 Comments
Megabooks @Cinfhen it was one of my first true crime books! 2w
emilyhaldi I still can‘t believe we were crazy enough to do that challenge 😜 2w
Megabooks @emilyhaldi Lol! I don‘t think I‘d do it again, but I‘m glad I did it once. Kinda like reaching the summit of Everest. 😂😂 2w
Megabooks @Reviewsbylola I had totally forgotten about the “club clothes” store she ran out Charlie‘s shop and that all she wore was panties and a bra to the bar one night!! 😳😳😳 2w
L_auren @emilyhaldi @Megabooks @reviewsbylola I think that was the best year of books of BOTM thankfully!!! But never again! 2w
emilyhaldi So true!!! @L_auren this year or last, I probably would have had to quit the challenge based on the BOTM choices 😜 2w
Megabooks @L_auren @emilyhaldi @Reviewsbylola 16-17 were definitely the best years. I stopped last year because a) the books sucked, and b) the bindings were super cheap! I‘m back to reading more ebooks now, so I don‘t think it‘s worth the expense, even though I like getting packages! 😉 2w
