Today‘s haiku is inspired by me, an oft solo diner, trying to break my habit of saying “just one” to the host when I eat out. I am content, at ease with myself & my own company & more than “just.” Also, no, I don‘t want to sit at the bar.

Table for Me

Trying to unlearn
That quiet, small “just one” phrase
I am whole, not “just”

West with Giraffes | Lynda Rutledge

We do not care that we are a day late for #wdncw because sometimes it happens that way.

We did not care that it took the entire trip around the lake to hear one story, because the tangents were delightful.

We especially enjoyed watching a squirrel run up a tree, taking stops for selfies and checking the birdsong app, and finding a giraffe teething ring hanging from a branch.

we do not care that I was up in the wee hours last night and ordered tons of “cute” bookmarks & stickers which I don‘t need & now have to return.We do not care that we have to set mouse traps all over the laundry room where there is a new mouse population explosion-only Emmy gets them now but she has few teeth so she is not successful that often.We have an old house with red stone foundation-easy access.

We do not care that out of the last 10 times we left the house, 8 were to see a doctor or PT. We also do not care that we were trying to hold off on a tooth that needed dental repair (and also a new crown) until the new year for insurance purposes, and then the crown broke this week and we had to go in today to get it fixed at full cost. At least I'm still alive and kickin'. Sort of.

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Oh no! I hope you feel better soon. Dental work sucks. An anecdote: My wisdom teeth on bottom are only halfway out. Dentist won't remove them unless problematic bc they're super close to the nerve. Whenever he looks in my mouth and questions it, before viewing his notes, I remind him, "You said they're dry humping the nerve so unless they're a problem..." He blushes & assures me he didn't say THAT. ? Precious. 4d

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I started going there years ago because they were sympathetic to my high tolerance for novacaine. They actually make it a point to ensure I'm all numbed up when needed. I make them laugh so they put up with the jokes. When a procedure required a hole be filled with ground up tooth, I asked if he could assure me that it was artisanal tooth grindings from the ancient Mayan civilization. I'm by far their best patient! 🤣🤣 3d

I asked for an update for the team. It's now unsure if he'll meet the deadline. I asked pertinent questions. He couldn't answer them and therefore looked like a moron. He then went to my (female) coworker and said I was a b-word and he should have walked out of the meeting. ⬇️ 4d

lil1inblue Coworker is also frustrated with him, and so she told me immediately. Have no fear, however, I have 3 planets in Virgo, and one of them is Mars, so I can (and will) get P.E.T.T.Y. I'm also damn good at my job. I will win. 😏 (And kinda already did, because the owner stopped in my office for an update this afternoon.) 4d
