More Cujo on my short #audiowalk. I forgot this book has no characters I really like in it, except for Tad — who is only 4.

Listening to Cujo for #LosersClub. I read it when it first came out, but don‘t remember all the details, so this should be interesting. King has said he doesn‘t remember writing the book; he was so high. I don‘t recall noticing anything weird, narratively, at the time. #audiowalk

I just recently decided that I really want to own and read all of Stephen King's books (and books of short stories)! I just recently purchased this one - it's a much older book of his from early in his career - and I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm actually really enjoying it so far! Who else has read this one? 🐾

Suet624 Not I! 5d
Ruthiella Have you read this yet? @BarkingMadRead 5d
BarkingMadRead I‘m not sure I have! I‘ve seen the movie though. I own the book 🙈 but goodreads says I haven‘t read it. I better fix that soon, I thought I‘d read them all 5d

Ruthiella @BarkingMadRead I thought you had read ‘em all too! 😂 Howsa bout you @5feet.of.fury ? 5d
Branwen @Suet624 @Ruthiella @BarkingMadRead @5feet.of.fury This one really flew under my radar! I didn't even know about it until very recently! According to my research, it does not appear in any of his other books of short stories/novellas. It's very short, less than 200 pages, but the illustrations are absolutely fantastic! Definitely worth checking out! 5d
5feet.of.fury Never even heard of it! @Ruthiella @Branwen 5d
TieDyeDude This was a fun book. Most of the characters didn't last long enough to leave an impact, but the illustrations were cool. 5d
BarkingMadRead The #losersclub will be reading this in January, so I guess i will wait until then 🤣 if you decide you want to read more King, we are reading them in order. This month is Cujo 5d
Branwen @TieDyeDude Agreed! I really loved the illustrations! 52m
Branwen @BarkingMadRead Oh! That's really cool! Do you guys usually read one a month? 51m
BarkingMadRead Yes, we read The Gunslinger for September. We read on our own and discuss at the end of the month 22m

A masterpiece. Iconic Stephen King novel. And one where he actually sticks the ending. #losersclub @BarkingMadRead

5feet.of.fury But I wish he didn‘t, actually. I will never in my life read this book again. 1w
BarkingMadRead I‘m pretty sure the movie ends the way we would want, it‘s been awhile since I‘ve watched it. Brutal. 1w
AllDebooks I just started it. It's gripping for sure. 1w

I don't read scripts so the setting up of it took some getting used to but then after that it reads smooth, the scenes flow right into each other in a seamless way with notes here and there of characters and settings and even some camera direction that it was easy to imagine or in my case relive as I've seen this one plenty of times.
I really loved being able to read this 🫶🏻

Billypar 'Born in sin... come on in!' I don't remember 99% of this mini series, but that line is still stuck in my head. 1w
mariaku21 @Billypar it's such a good line! I don't blame your brain for remembering that one 😂 4d

I read this with @BarkingMadRead and the #losersclub last month.
I would classify this as a thriller but I feel it was a stronger overarching political commentary on gun laws and possibly eminent domain. In the early 1970s Bert and his wife lose their house to fair market value and a highway.
Read if you like a slow descent into madness & bad choices.

🤡 Taken with the newest addition to my King collection - It duck from Five Below!

BarkingMadRead Omg that duck is amazing! Did you get that recently?!?! 2w

Everyone knows the name Cujo, but have all of us really gotten to know this poor canine? Stephen King has a way of telling stories unlike anyone else. Cujo isn‘t the only scary thing in this story; humans are far worse. Curiosity and a wanting for second breakfast literally lead Cujo straight down the rabbit hole, where bad things are. What happens next is horrifying but it‘s not his fault. Highlight to remember: please vaccinate your pets!💉

Shortly following those mortal events in the Camber dooryard, Cujo‘s remains were cremated. The ashes went out with the trash and were disposed of at the Augusta waste-treatment plant. It would perhaps not be amiss to point out that he had always tried to be a good dog. He had tried to do all the things his MAN and his WOMAN, and most of all his BOY, had asked or expected of him. He would have died for them, if that had been required. ⬇️

JenniferEgnor He had never wanted to kill anybody. He had been struck by something, possibly destiny, or fate, or only a degenerative nerve disease called rabies. Free will was not a factor. The small cave into which Cujo had chased the rabbit was never discovered. Eventually, for whatever vague reasons small creatures may have, the bats moved on. The rabbit was unable to get out and it starved to death in slow, soundless misery. Its bones, so far as I⬇️ 2w
JenniferEgnor know, still remain there with the bones of those small animals unlucky enough to have tumbled into that place before it. 2w
