Super quick read. I like Lucy‘s inner monologue; she‘s dark, but also funny. And I did not guess who the murderer is! Question: why was every chapter headed “Lucy” when there was no one else‘s perspective?

Fast paced, entertaining…but not great literature.

I enjoyed this gripping thriller,
Very intriguing, and Lucy is a funny sarcastic character 😀

Definitely listen to this Audio!
This Razor-sharp psychological Thriller with a contemporary infused setting, was not at all what I expected. It was so much more, it grabbed me form the get-go and didn't let up until the very end.
Mixing the amnesiac, mind-game vibes with the media-obsessed true-crime-podcast created an unique story, brilliantly narrated by January LaVoy and Will Darmon

#WhereAreYouMonday
Today I'm in a small town in Texas trying to solve a murder mystery.

While I was aware of the basic premise—a woman may have killed her best friend, but she has no memory of that night—I was completely unprepared for the unexpected twists and turns that awaited me. To my surprise, I found this book incredibly hilarious! Despite my appreciation for dark humor, the story also features a genuinely captivating murder mystery at its core.

Easy read. Interesting structure with the podcast interspersed with the podcasts main character‘s voice. Interesting characters and storyline.

An incredibly compelling podcast-style murder mystery that had me hooked from page 1… it really keeps you guessing until the final chapters!

Lucy and Savvy are best pals-two peas in a pod. But after a local wedding one dark night, Savvy‘s been murdered. And Lucy is found bloody and wandering the street with a TBI, not sure what transpired…Great debut adult novel. Compelling and clever.

My 3rd @amytintera book and it's hands down one of the best murder mystery/podcast tropes out there.

It‘s a classic whodunnit mystery that kept me hooked from start to finish. I loved the protagonist, Lucy—fearless and strong, she never cared what others thought, even when the world was against her. Her grandmother‘s character was my favorite—bubbly, full of energy, and so full of life. I can only hope to be that vibrant in my 80s. A gripping podcast-style crime thriller worth experiencing. ❤️❤️🎙🎙 🎧

When I heard that this book contained a true crime pod cast element, I was in.Lucy was a likaeble character despite her personality traits of prickly, sarcastic, snarky, these seemed to be her coping mechanism for dealing with the vilification from everyone in her hometown.Interwoven are the podcast notes they added another fascinating element for me. A mesmerising, addictive thriller read. The twists and the ending were perfection for me.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you love true crime &/or podcasts read this book! It‘s different from anything I‘ve read before. Basic summary: Lucy is accused of killing her best friend but she has zero memory of it. A true crime podcaster sets to find the truth 5 years later.

You‘d think that the whole “true crime podcast” trope is a bit overdone, and maybe it is, but I‘m here for it 😂👏🏻 A fast read that kept me guessing. Loved it! #readyourkindle

Lucy returns to her hometown for her grandma‘s birthday party but dreads the visit since everyone there believes she murdered her best friend. If only she could remember what actually happened that night… luckily, a true crime podcaster also happens to be in town, and he is determined to uncover the truth.
Fun audiobook for summer! The podcast device is getting a little old, but it was well done on audio. Loved the MCs sarcastic sense of humor.

I've been reading at a snails pace but not really on social media recently.
Looking forward to catching up with some recent posts 😁.
Started this today and enjoying it but think the narrator's voice may start to grate on my last nerve later 🤣🤣

A fun thriller that‘s written with humor even though it covers some dark themes. You‘ve read similar stories before: young woman (in this case, Lucy) returns home where something terrible has happened in the past. Much of the internet blames Lucy for the crime. Enter a podcaster, her family, and many others from her past. Will Lucy‘s memory of that fateful night return? So full of tropes but actually enjoyable.

An entertaining read. It‘s a familiar story—a pair of best friends, one is murdered & the survivor soon becomes the main suspect but is never charged due to insufficient evidence. A true crime podcast decides to investigate the case & maybe now the truth will come out. Plenty of possible culprits, including the surviving friend, leave you guessing until the end which, if I have a complaint, wrapped up quickly & a little easily. Fast, fun read.

This was a fantastic listen on audiobook! I loved the addition of the podcast episodes throughout and the production/music that went into them. They were perfect for adding context, suspense, & additional twists, & I would look forward to them each time the music came on! The character development of Lucy & Savvy was perfectly paced to keep me turning the pages.
The final reveal was full of suspense, too! I loved it!

😂
Me! I have the patience for reading…although in truth, the rule for my irl book club is you don‘t have to read/finish the book but you do have to be ok with spoilers…

This book was so good! I enjoyed it from start to finish. The characters were so relatable and I want to be just like her Grandma when I grow up! In the end, everyone got exactly what they deserved and that made me happy. 😊

No favorites this month but I quite enjoyed Listen for the Lie and Sworn to Silence.

Sunday reading. ☺️
Grandson started a puzzle on my coffee table two days ago and hasn't touched it since. Guess I'll have to finish it. 😒

Lucy was present at her best friend‘s murder five years ago, but she does not remember anything of that night. Because of a lack of evidence, she was never charged, but her whole small Texas town thinks she did it. A new true crime podcast brings renewed interest in the case just as Lucy goes back to visit. It‘s a good audiobook with the podcast set up.

Nobody in the book is likeable. Lucy is an unreliable narrator, and Ben has an agenda. I had a feeling that I knew what actually happened to Lucy‘s friend, and I was right. I enjoyed the way the story was told, and it‘s perfect for audio. My new #audiowalk book is Wake Up and Open Your Eyes. So far it reminds me a little of Stephen King‘s Cell.

It was such a pretty day today that I had to go out for an #audiowalk. It‘s our false spring, I believe. My azaleas will be tricked into blooming, and then it‘ll get really cold again. I‘m still enjoying Listen for the Lie but only have 2 hours left, so I need to pick a new listen.

Five years ago Lucy‘s best friend, Savvy, was murdered and Lucy was the prime suspect, although she was never charged. Now a podcaster is investigating the case and Lucy returns to the scene of the crime and, with her grandmother‘s encouragement, agrees to talk. The writing was okay, and I guess the mystery was okay, but the book was also just okay. Others might really like it, but it‘s just a soft pick for me.

This book just took an unexpected twist, so now I‘m really interested in the outcome. No one is who you think they are. The pictures on the left are from my morning walk, where I expected it to rain any second. The ones on the right, with the nice, blue sky are from my evening walk — I wasn‘t expecting it to change so much during the day. #audiowalk

This book grabbed me from the start; I hope it keeps up the pace. The combination of casual first person narrative and a podcast makes it particularly good for audio. I was finally able to get in a decent #audiowalk today!

4.5⭐️/5⭐️
I loved this book. I laughed out loud a few times... I almost spit my water across the room! I didn't want it to end! I will be keeping my eye out for her next book. This one's a keeper! 🖤

This book is a good, easy read but something about the ending just didn‘t sit well with me. I was like that was it? I had to go on Reddit to see other people‘s thoughts and then it finally made some sense but still didn‘t really make it any better. There‘s still a part at the end where I felt all the dots were not connected but as I said for the most part it was a pretty good book.

The back and forth between the main character and the podcast works really well as an audiobook. Kept me guessing until (almost) the end!

Not a single likeable character. Everyone is 🛌 with everyone else and seemingly the whole town knows, but no one spotted the physical abuse?
Maybe Tintera should stick to YA novels.
The #audiobook was done well though, I liked the podcast sound effects.

6th book finished for #Read2025 and #JumpStart2025 @DieAReader @LizPixie
This was a very good read, and a good suspense book, and good use of Podcasts throughout. This meant it leant itself very well to the audiobook format, which was narrated well. Tension kept up to the end, and some good twists as the story progressed. Definitely strongly recommended.

Just started the first of the many books Littens nominated during #12Booksof2024.
Thanks to @BarkingMadRead & @TorieStorieS for nominating this.
Each month I am aiming to read 3 or 4 of the books that were nominated, and this is the first. Altogether I added 50 books to my TBR from #12Booksof2024 #Read12Booksof2024
I am reading this via audiobook, & looks like it lends itself to this format.

Another great one! November‘s top choice, a great thriller, probably top 5 of the year! #12booksin2024 @Andrew65

For Day 2 of the #12BooksOf2024, my February pick was harder to narrow down— but LISTEN FOR THE LIE was one of my favorite audiobooks of the whole year, though honorable mentions must go to the other 5-star reads I read that month (my monthly calendar log in the photo lists the 5 others!).
Thanks @Andrew65 for organizing this fun countdown!
