This was an interesting read and a retelling of beauty and beast. I enjoyed the little sections written by the beast. 3.5*
First book finished for #20in4
Well this was quite the read. There's a fair amount of secrets and lies flowing with some very clever twists along the way. I did figure out what happened to Tom but some of the other secrets took me by surprise. The plot is a slow burn as you slowly learn about the characters, They all have their own flaws and issues but I think I was drawn most to poor Tom. The ending was brilliant, I love how it all fell into place. #Netgalley 4*
Another end of the month and another readathon. #20in4. My goals are twenty chapters across the books above. Bank Holiday here and meant to be sunny so hoping for lots of outdoor reading.
@Andrew65
An informative look at forensics and how it's developed over the years. It was an interesting read with a few case studies dotted throughout. I found it detailed without being overwhelming. Ideal for any true crime fan. 4*
Well #MagnificentMay didn't go so well. Panned one book and finished another. Chunks read in a couple but fell into a slump in the middle. Thanks for hosting @Andrew65
This was such a good read. I really enjoyed the story and the characters are so likeable. Ted is probably my favourite though. The plot is easy to read but keeps you turning the page. The ending was so perfect for the story and I liked how it came together. A fun read with a cute and funny story. #Netgalley 4* first book read for #MagnificentMay
#MagnificentMay readathon starts today. My goals are simple to try and finish three books. Long weekend here in honour of the King's coronation so hoping to start off well.
This was such a twist filled ride. One minute you have a theory then bam another twist throws you off. I love how little I could figure out in this. It took me by surprise so many times. Its not a simple story but its not difficult to follow either. Its told through various characters POV which always gives a fuller plot. The ending was reallyy well done and I love how it all came together in the end. #Netgalley 4*
I do love a Sarah Morgan book. They are always full of depth and emotion. This one did not disappoint. I did figure out parts of it but still enjoyed the story and the conclusion. The plot is a steady, easy read. Perfect for the beach. The ending was really well done and tied all the stories off nicely. The writing really captures the beautiful location and the intensity of the scenes. A brilliant summer read. 4* #Netgalley
A look at how forensic Science has changed criminal investigations.
This was an interesting read. It touches on the TV show Silent witness and there is a fairly major spoiler if you haven't seen all the episodes like me. I liked the references though. This takes us through the various methods and then cases using them showing the good and bad sides which was fascinating. An enlightening read. 4*
So five days into #AwesomeApril and two books done. Tagged one was so good but forgot to get photo before returning to library. Not the highest time count but I'm reading so it's all good.
@Andrew65
Well what a read this was. it focuses on the impact domestic violence can have on a family especially children. its an interesting premise having the story told from a child but it gives greater depth to her own emotions. The plot is interesting though i figured out a few things along the way. The ending was well written and I liked how it all came together especially the final part as it explained the events well. #Netgalley 4*
#AwesomeApril two days in and going okay. No books finished as ended up panning one. I don't like doing that to review one's but just couldn't get into it. Hoping for a couple finished by the end of this.
@Andrew65
This was a lovely story. A great summer read. I love all the aspects to the story especially Arran's part and connection to them. It was good to see the different relationships. The plot was a steady build to a very sweet ending. I would have liked a little more back story on some of the characters. A modern romance
Aww I do love a romcom myself so knew this was going to be a fun read. it did not disappoint. I loved all the movie references and how many I recognised. The story is well written and a great read. Its a very modern romance touching on the danger of social media and angry exes. The ending was so perfect and finished it off with style. A brilliant read for any romantic movie lover. #Netgalley 5*
So we've come to the end of #MarchMadness. Didn't quite get ten books but managed 9 and seem to have found the buzz for reading again. Been lots of fun. Thanks for hosting @Andrew65 @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES
An interesting quick look at the basis of forensics. A short explanation then a few facts or famous names associated with it. It was interesting as a quick reference but I like detail and case studies. Still a useful way to understand the various terms and methods. 4*
#MarchMadness #DailyChallenge. Top left is my dad the person who got me into reading with our family dog Sheba. She and I grew up together. Top right is my daughter being pongo from 101 Dalmatians and bottom was my Alfie pretending to be Harry Potter. He was a crazy pup sadly dying too soon, loved the vets but scared of baby rabbits.
@Andrew65 @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES
Well this was an interesting read. I liked the sound of it and ended up really enjoying it too. Okay them talking about men's appendages was a little strange but funny too. I like how clever and determined they were. The plot is well written with some good twists along the way. The ending worked so well and tied the story off brilliantly. I really liked Billie the best. There are some very inventive methods in this especially at the spa. 4*
Oh I do love a Mills and boon now and then. Sometimes you just need a guaranteed happy ending. My library has a good selection as well. My mum and I used to share them. This was two connected medical stories. Both a good read featuring communication which I love.
This was a really interesting read. I was hooked from the very beginning. I've read many a fake romance story and the various ways it can end. I liked this one. I'm glad Zara came to realise what she truly wanted so she could be happy. I liked the text and discord message format dotted through the book. The plot is a steady build with a really satisfying ending. Zara is likeable and fun. #ReadersFirst 4*
A tough read at times given the subject matter but it does get a bit boring at times. Was interesting seeing the different stories from Brady and Hindley. Just found it a slog. 2.5*
Second week into #MarchMadness and its going okay. Also took part in #MarvellousMarch reading for 15 hours. I've read four books so far. Plus my youngest turned 13 so we now have two teenagers.
@Andrew65 @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES
This is such a heartfelt story. It has some beautiful moments interspersed with some truly heart breaking one's. I loved the dual timelines and how we slowly learn about the past. It's a slow burn but it's needed for the story. The ending was really done. This does mention an event in recent history that could be a trigger to some readers. I liked Isobel and that she is ready to communicate. #Netgalley 4*
Little update for the readathons. Just over ten hours for #MarchMadness. Four hours for #MarvellousMarch. Not the most reading but have finished three books so going well.
@Andrew65 @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES
This was a really interesting story. I loved all the details and folklore entwined in this story. In-between the chapters we learn about the history of the gumiho which was fascinating. The story is a slow burn but it holds attention. The ending was good and I liked the hints left at the end for the second book. Which I want to read. 4*
#DailyChallenge #MarchMadness.
Switched off from technology with some baking. Flapjacks and caramel crispy cakes from the book tagged above. @Andrew65 @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES
Oh I love these books. The series is so good. Full of drama, intrigue and mystery. There's background stories and relationships but the murders do take focus which I really like. The cases in this were really good. I solved one of them but not the other. The ending was really good and dramatic. It left me wanting more from the characters. These are always a steady burn but with plenty going on along the way. #Netgalley 5*
Gotta love another readathon and this is a month long one. Goals are to try and read ten books. Plus have a go at the bingo boards. #MarchMadness
@Andrew65 @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES
This was an interesting story but it was a bit disjointed at times and the ending wasn't as good as i'd hoped. The story is told from multiple povs which confuse the story a little more. I think I wanted a more dramatic ending, given the build up to it. None of the main characters are overly likeable. They're all pretty self obsessed and focused on their own issues to see the truth. #Netgalley 3*
Second in the series and another good read. This mystery twists and turns through the story so you have no idea how it might end. The ending was really good and I liked how it came together. Emma is a great lead and I like how the case is the main focus in the story. A great follow on. 4*
Oh this was another great story. I've been to Grimes Graves myself and it's fascinating if a little creepy in the dark. The plot is steady with a lot going on but it all comes together perfectly. The ending was so what I wanted. This series is one of my favourites and Cathbad has remained the best character throughout. A brilliant read. I hope this won't be the last. 5*
So seven days done and not the best times but managed to read a little everyday and finished one book. #FabulousFebruary
@Andrew65
This was such a fascinating read. i loved the world building and the history told in the story. This is a brilliant start to the series and i look forward to the next book in the series. There's a lot to follow but it makes sense as the story develops. Each chapter has a quote at the start which were really interesting. Lan is a fascinating character and her strength shines throughout. I really liked her. #Netgalley 4*
#FabulousFebruary readathon. Four days done and slowly making progress. Started the latest and possibly last Dr Galloway, Ella Griffiths book. It's good and I loved exploring Grimes Graves when I was young.
@Andrew65
#FabulousFebruary readathon starts today. Looking forward to this. My goals are just to read lots.
@Andrew65
January wrap up and it was a bit of a slow month. Some good reads though and the tagged one was my favourite read. Hoping for more next month.
Small extracts of various crimes in the city of London. In an A to Z format.
This was an interesting look at the history of London with regards to crime. The cases are mostly just a short synopsis so not too heavy on the detail. It also touched on hangman, prisons, and courts in the city. A good read for any true crime fan. 4*
This was an interesting premise and the location draws you in but the story fell a little flat. It was a very slow build and it was obvious early on who killed Patrick. I did like the twist of Ann's reasons for coming to the cloisters. The ending was well done though I had guessed about what might have happened to Rachel. A gothic read. #Netgaley 3*l
Oh I love these two so much. The development they've gone through and that's both of them. This was so good and makes me just want more. The plot was interesting and I liked the four weddings and a funeral reference. The ending was just so right for them. I love that they finally found the right path for them. I must say I do love Alex he's hilarious. A brilliant sequel. 5*
As a book lover and a hopeless romantic I loved this story. I enjoyed all the references to romance novel tropes that litter through the book. The plot is a slow burn but it keeps you reading as you meet all the exes. The ending was so perfect and sweet. Tara deserved her happy ending. I loved how final moment with Seth as well, she stood up to him well. I love Tara she reminds me of myself so much. A fun romantic read. 5* #Netgalley
Three days of #JoyousJanuary done and its not going great but I have almost finished a book so not all bad.
