This was a good book. Very thought provoking. If you like mountain climbing, lost in a blizzard type books, this might be for you. It delves into some religious stuff but is an interesting way to see the meaning of life.

Not for me. It started off good but quickly became more annoying than anything. I can‘t believe I finished it. I should have DNFd it instead of wasting 6 hrs of my life. I hated the characters. Which isn‘t always a bad thing but there was no meaningful message I can highlight from it except don‘t assume you know why people do things and be self centered thinking it‘s all about you.

dabbe Reading should never really be on a deadline, right? 🤩🤣😍 3mo
Q84 @dabbe I guess. I have deadlines for everything but lately haven‘t been meeting them. Some of them are because of library loan due dates and others like this one are ARCs and I like to get them reviewed before launch date but I am definitely behind. Now I feel I need to catch up. It‘s a never ending battle. (edited) 3mo
TheAromaofBooks Sometimes you have to step back and remember that reading is supposed to be a fun hobby 😂 Take the time you need!! 3mo
See All 8 Comments
Q84 @TheAromaofBooks I know I need to. That‘s probably one of the reasons I haven‘t been reading much. Like I‘m avoiding my TBR thats ever growing. I think it‘s started to be a chore. I am thinking about deleting my TBRs online and just sticking to a list of 20 at a time. Maybe that will help me. I also use to many sites for reading these days. I still enjoy it but now it‘s gotten to be more of a TO-DO. It‘s sad really. I have to work on that. 3mo
Q84 I was looking at my GR list and there are over 10,000 books. I will never read all of those and many are probably not of interest to me anymore. I tried to mass delete them but it wouldn‘t let me. 🫨 3mo
TheAromaofBooks For me personally, I stopped doing review copies a few years ago, and that really took pressure off of me. 10,000 books is quite a lot!!! Mine has never been that high, but it was almost 2000 a few years ago and I did a big purge. A friend of mine went through her list and just deleted any book that had lower than a 3.8* rating. I like having a TBR because I love having a pile of books (metaphorically) that I thought sounded interesting to choose⬇ 3mo
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) from whenever I am ready for my next read. I like to check out 10-15 from the library each month and if I don't get to them, I do kinda of flip through them and decide if they should stay on the TBR or not. 3mo
Q84 @TheAromaofBooks I don't struggle with feeling the need to read library books usually. I typically donthe same. Maybe I should follow suit and stop doing review sites. I also need to pair down my TBR, but I think a total purge is the only way. I also have a set of books I know I want to read when I think about it or see them, so that may be what I start fresh with. Thanks for sharing with me. I think it will be helpful in figuring out a solution. 3mo

My momma

I'm not sure. Maybe the 90s so I could spend my years with my momma again.

I say no, but really, I have a stash of pens, markers, pencils, tea, craft supplies, concert shirts, guitar picks, cups and mugs, ice and candy molds, planner stickers, greeting cards, card stock paper packs, candles, nail polish, blankets, sweaters, decor items, apps and photos. 🤔I think I may have a problem.

If I use the last fiction book I read(tagged), then the main character owns a cater and cooking school, so a chef, teacher, and business owner.

While it's just after midnight, I am still going to share this one.

1. I much prefer watching from home.
2. I still enjoy crafts and drawing sometimes.
3. I like the idea of eating out, but I am almost always disappointed and think it would have been smarter to stay home and cook for a much better price and taste. I end up feeling quilty for spending the money and not enjoying it because it wasn't worth the money spent.

September #ROLL100 is going to be the first month I will actually be trying to participate if I'm not mistaken.

#4 will be rereading The Secret Wife by Emily Shiner for NG review
#47 is another reread for a NG review of A Girl Called Rumi
#79 is a reread of The Shadows for NG review

The running them is that half the books on my NG need rereading because I forgot to write reviews when I first read them. 🤦‍♀️

Pickpick

This was a great #spookyvibe read. I picked it up because of Darling Desi on YT.
A small town that does halloween all year round because it uses a curse and all the spooks as its way to build revenue for the town. The new girl in town hates it. She doesn't believe any of it, and neither does her friends.
That is, until she does...

1. The Holiday, which is RomCom. There's just so many movies to love, and half of them are comedy of some sort.
2. Autumn in New York
3. I wish my husband would regain his grip strength in his hands.

I agree with @ozma.of.oz about my dream library. I love open windows for natural light and definitely need rolling 🪜. However, there are lots of twinkling lights for nighttime to curl up with an audiobook and listen to a great story or read an ebook in a cozy alcove with lot of cozy blankets and pillows and a window few of my beautiful gardens.

#SundayFunday

RedxoHearts I've always wanted a rolling ladder like in Beauty & The Beast too. Of course it's probably better that I don't 🤣 8mo

Started this one the other day. I am about halfway through. This is the second book of A Caribbean Kitchen Mystery series. I do not love it. I'm not wanting to pick it up. 😕 I am considering setting it aside to finish later. 🤔 I want to read something more engaging while I have the time. Something I can't put down.

Pickpick

This was a different cozy mystery than I usually read. I like the idea of it taking place around a vinyl shop. The mystery itself kept me guessing through the end. I will be picking up the next book in the series.

Mehso-so

I finished yesterday. There are a lot of names in these books, AOC, M. Obama.Environmental issues.Racism.This has an interesting murder mystery. However, Miriam being asked to help by a police officer is unrealistic and the sluething wasn't great. There is also lots of mother-in-law hating daughter-in-law.It wasn't as exciting as other series I've read.I'm still going to read the next two books. However, I hope it gets better or I won't continue.

I know I've been MIA for a while. I've been so busy. Please tell me how you stay active here when like it hectic. I have been doing school full time, working over 40hr a week, having extracurricular activities for my youngest, my husband having to get carpal tunnel surgery on both hands, dealing with my oldest trying to get diagnosed because she could barely walk. ⬇️

Q84 In the meantime, I have not been taking care of myself like I should. I have gained back 50lb, and the last 2 weeks had heat exhaustion. I was hoping to take a mini vacation this weekend, but due to my husband's job not allowing him to work after surgery, I know I can't spend the money to do so. I wish I could say I'm back. However, I don't know if I really have time to spend here regularly right now. I do miss being here on Litsy and all of you. 9mo

Gissy Wow many things happening but take time for yourself. I think that as a vacation you can go on picnic, , maybe a book club around or near your house. Maybe a barbecue but where everyone is bringing something so you don‘t have to do much work or go to one. Maybe go to the park. Sometimes little things are full of surprises. Receive a big hug. 9mo
Q84 @Librarybelle @bnp @AmyG @Tamra @Ruthiella @dabbe @Gissy Thank you for all your well wishes and suggestions. I am trying to focus a bit more on myself, at least this week. Today after work I am going to try to relax, get some rest, maybe a relaxing bath with a book. Tomorrow, I am planning to spend a few hours playing PG with my family and then spend some more time finding ways to relax. Thanks again. Y'all are the best.🫶 8mo
