I don‘t read as much during the summer as I hate the heat and just want to sleep or watch TV. I‘ve tried to select easy reads or leaving it open to whim
I‘ll still go for #bookspin #doublespin and #bookspinbingo @thearomaofbooks

July #roll100 sticking with the 3 rolls as that seems to be working
Going for a red/pinky theme this month with Cherry Crystal, Raspberry Smoothie and my Rainbow metal dice I never get to use because they dent my desk!
Roll 1 = 13
Roll 2 = 75
Roll 3 = 44
As always tag me @puddlejumper so I can snoop on what everyone is reading
Really great book for readers young and old. The action was fast paced with good character moments. I loved it! I hope there are more with these characters
I also appreciate that the teenage padawans acted like teenagers and had the character growth felt organic
#StarWarsBuddyRead @BookwormAHN
A fun YA sci fi book. It has quite a few YA tropes but I felt that they were handled well and added to the story rather than detracted from it
Looking forward to the rest of the series
I really wanted to like this but it fell flat for me. The character voices are all very similar which made it so confusing, the book is written in first person from different characters perspectives
The gaming world created was way more interesting and fleshed out than the actual plot
This is the weakest of the books so far. Setting it in London didn't work for me, it was more focused on the setting and less on the characters which I didn't enjoy
This is a heartbreakingly relatable book. It's both wonderful and tragic and makes me want to burn the world.
This is my first novel in the new Star Wars universe and it was a bloated nightmare of a book. There were too many characters, too many pov changes, half the time I wasn't sure who was who. It felt more like a jumping point for other books which would focus on the characters
I liked how different characters viewed the force, that was nice to see. Some of the characters were great and the plot was interesting, there was just too much
Wonderful book about identity and learning to love yourself
Sci Fi month! This is great, these books need to go back to the library soon so this is an incentive to read them
#bookspin Light of the Jedi
#doublespin Aurora Rising
@TheAromaofBooks
I really enjoyed this second volume. The transitions from character to character were sometimes a bit abrupt but it wasn't a big deal
Completed May #bookspinbingo @thearomaofbooks
I got 1 bingo and read my #bookspin and #doublespin Pretty happy with this month, I read some really great books ... and some not so great!
Another amazing book! I liked this one more than the first one, I felt that the pacing was better.
One of my library books for #BigJuneReadathon @Clwojick
This is not my kind of book. I didn't enjoy the writing style or the content but it is well written, well paced and if you like darker scandi crime books then you'll probably enjoy this.
Another random book I bought and forgot about. Glad I gave it a try
Parts of this book worked really well and other parts fell flat. The haikus written by the granddaughter character were lovely.
The main issue is the prose section set in 1945. It doesn't read authentic to the time period or the location. The romance was contrite and underwhelming.
I would not recommend this book.
First two books in the Thrawn Ascendancy series are 99p on the kindle
#starwars
Such a good book, I read it in one sitting because I didn't want to put it down
#BigJuneReadathon is a month long readathon run by @Clwojick
I'm going to keep it simple and aim to read the library books I have out. I've got 9 books out and would like to read 4 or 5
June #bookspinbingo
Mostly library books and recent TBR pile additions
Going to try for #bookspin and #doublespin again this month with the realistic expectation of maybe getting one!
@TheAromaofBooks
Absolutely loving this series, each book just gets better and better
Go on holiday and buy books (and games)!
These are books I've wanted for awhile but weren't at my local library and I could only buy them through Amazon which I'm reluctant to do
Found a lovely sci-fi/fantasy book shop in Edinburgh called Transreal Fiction. Well worth a visit, they had a great range of books
I read 3 library books and 1 book off my shelves
Also picked up some thin books to take on holiday with me. I'm pleased! 🤣
#marvellousmay @Andrew65
I'm not that into music but I really enjoyed this book, it was a combination of cute and sad. Looking forward to the rest of the series ... If my library gets them in! Had this on hold for nearly a year before it came in
This book sounds better than it is. There are no citations and no critical interrogation of the sources that they do mention.
I am being harsh because this isn't and doesn't claim to be an academic book but I still think you need to be mindful. It also covers the 'ancient world' which is Greece and Italy over several centuries and doesn't really place the jobs in a historical context beyond ancient world
I have mixed feelings about this. It was really well written and an intense read, very much a psychological thriller.
It was what it was, if that makes sense, there were no twists and no surprises and it was quite a tough book to get through
June #roll100 going up really early because I‘m travelling on and off the next few weeks
May rolls are still active!
I‘ve gone with an orange/golden theme with Athens, Muninn and my Caleb Widogast set
Roll 1 – 56
Roll 2 – 15
Roll 3 – 62
Let me know what you are reading by tagging me @puddlejumper
A police procedural set in modern China. The cultural and historical aspects of this book were really interesting but unfortunately the murder plot was rather dull
Arrived early to teach my class. Thankfully the venue let's me in and doesn't charge me so I'm going to have a good thirty minutes of reading time
Had the house to myself for like the first time in 3 years and I've binge watched so much tv, ate so much crap food, and went outside once. I have not read anything 😅
I'd like to read at least one book from my library haul for #MarvellousMay
@Andrew65
This book lost its way somewhere around the middle. There was a great premise, compelling characters and dynamics and then it just fizzled
This book would have been much better without the romance element. The insta love took away from interesting parts of the plot and nothing would have been lost if it was cut
I'm glad I read the two volumes back to back as they are a continuous story. Really enjoyed it!
Fantastic book! The story is sweet and a little sad and approaches cultural differences, prejudices, and expectations in a very gentle way
Would definitely recommend and I'm looking forward to the second volume which I also got out the library! 😄
Fluff. Stories were a bit too simplistic and lacking in depth.
The art work was nice and the stories enjoyable, very easy reading
My city had decided to close a few libraries despite the outage it caused. They've been doing an audit about possibly closing a few more
I have no shame about my #libraryhaul and using the inter library loan system. Several of the books I put on hold have been 'lost' since the other libraries have been closed which sucks
Doing the no buy 2022 has really shown me how great my local libraries are
This series has run it's course for me. I didn't enjoy this one as much as others, the mystery was a bit dull and Daisy was very annoying ... More annoying than usual
One of my #shelfofshame books because I swear I've read the first 3 chapters multiple times and then stopped reading
#draculadaily starts with Jonathan Harker wanting every recipe ever and criticizing the local women for being "clumsy about the waist"
I really want to know what that means! How do I know if I'm clumsy about the waist?
May #bookspinbingo
#bookspin is an impulse read and #doublespin is one of my #roll100 books
Pretty blank board this month as I've got some traveling and don't want to be carrying around big books
@TheAromaofBooks
An easy high school mystery book. It isn't as good as the first and the reveal was a bit lacking but it's a diverting read
Counting this towards my May stuff since I've already posted my April stuff 🤣🤣
Darius the Great is Not Okay was my pick for April. Really enjoyed the book.
Black Sun still wins out though. It was difficult to pick as they are different genres but I think Black Sun was much more impactful
#readingbracket2022
April #bookspinbingo
No bingos this month but I did finish my #doublespin and one of my #roll100 books
Probably one of my lighter reading months which I'm blaming on taxes because that stuff is hard when you're self employed! 😅
@TheAromaofBooks
Five minutes in and I already love it. Makes me want to read it from the beginning
Doing 2 rolls again for #roll100
Roll 1: Orgy Planner Wanted: Odd Jobs and Curious Callings in the Ancient World by Vicki Leon
Roll 2: Bloodline by Jordan L Hawk
May #roll100 is here with a green theme: Cthulu, Fossegrim and Canis Minor
Roll 1 = 54
Roll 2 = 85
Roll 3 = 96
We had 85 last month too so if you've read the book already then read 84 or 86
Sticking with 3 rolls this month. If anyone wants an extra roll let me know and I'll do another one
Tag me at @puddlejumper so I can be nosey
May #bookspinbingo
Bit of a weird month with traveling so didn't want to include any of my nice books because I ruin them in my bag 🤣
Its going to be a lot of library books, ebooks and hopefully catch up on some challenge books I haven't read
@TheAromaofBooks
This was such a boring slog of a read. There was no dramatic tension, there was no tension full stop. Things were introduced then immediately resolved.
Too much nothingness
