This one was much better than the first, in my opinion. On to book #3 (the original goal)

confession: book #3 is on a ready challenge list I saw and was hoping to do this year but golly this book was so long and drawn out with too many small side stories that did not add to the overall storyline. normally at this point I'd just move on but going to attempt #2. There is neurodivergent representation which is nice but with the opposite being a superiority complex I just didn't love it.

This is book #3 for me - 5/5.

This one probably isn‘t for everyone, but it definitely spoke to me. The author lost both of her sons by suicide. She wrote this book after her second son‘s death. Her comments and descriptions of her feelings resonate with me. She makes the statement that sometimes children die, and parents must go on living. Her thoughts are definitely powerful.

KT1432 Oh that is heartbreaking 💔 2d

December 2025 Book #3

Madeline is a survivor of a crime attempt but she can‘t remember anything. Someone is paying for that crime and now, years later request a review in his case. This famous writer find Madeline after she moved, and is offering her to reveal what real happened. A friend of Madeline disagree with this offer. Then the plot is how Madeline remembers what happened and an expected (obvious) romance rise. ⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) I found it slow and boring. The killer? It doesn‘t make sense to me why he did it, in some way because under the influence of drugs, anything is possible. But still🙄

My first novel by this author. I will read something else to see if I like it🤷🏽‍♀️3⭐️

November 2025 Book #3

I made an incorrect comment when I was reviewing The hacienda😳I already corrected it. I mentioned that there was an attempt of a forbidden romance, but is in this novel where that incident happens🤦🏽‍♀️Both novels have the same gothic atmosphere and tone. I liked this one too. This author was added my favorite author list. The story has a slow pace and it takes a couple of pages until I was immersed in the story⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) I also like her books covers😍Again, I read the physical book with audiobooks and really liked it, so much drama😂The “horror” part, it was okay. I found more interesting the drama🙄and she is so good describing a good gothic atmosphere. 4⭐️ 1w

October Book #3

In the past a seance was conducted and something went wrong, a real spirit was unleashed. Present day Julia accepts a job offer from a stranger to take care of an elderly woman. At her arrival, something is familiar to Julia. Mrs Sinclair is confusing her with another woman. Then, strange things happens and Julia feels that she is trapped in that house, in some way she feels knows the house and some objects seem familiar⬇️

Gissy (Cont) but how if she has never been in that house. A great secret is revealed and the novel wrntvdow. It was unrealistic for me that secret and the seance little bit dramatic. But what liked of this novel an author‘s writing style is how she create that ambience. It is like you are walking slowly, and you feel you are seeing through the eyes of the character. I will continue reading some other novels I own by this author. (edited) 1w

September 2025 Book #3

Another surprise. First book I read by this author and I really liked her style. Sage assists to a grief support center due to her mother‘s death. There, she share with Josef, an elderly man who everyone has sympathy. Josef has a secret that decides to reveal to Sage and ask her for an unusual favor. Then, Sage try to know why Josef asked her to do that task. This story was a roller coaster of secrets and emotions⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) I even search for some events that occurred in WWI. I was totally immersed in the story. That ending…😱hard. I can‘t say more without spoile the story. 4.5⭐️

August 2025 Books #3

A cozy mystery set in the 1930‘s where Clara inherited her uncle detective agency. I like Clara Vale character, well educated woman, likes fashion but down to earth. She has a dramatic mother who she ignores sometimes. The novel presents some issues women faced during that time which can be annoying today but we are still working in that equity. The story is funny, fast paced and the mystery is interesting. ⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) There are other interesting characters.

I read the first 2 books in the series first in order to read third one in the series which was part of #CBBC This series must be read in order. I will continue with this series. The fifth book will be release this month.
