Hangin‘ out with the fur friends. #BFCr3 stats this week: 11.12 hours reading time! Finished The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen in record time - it‘s for book club on September 30! I also managed to get 28,472 steps in. I could do better, but I‘m happy.

Just finished this book - I listened to the audiobook. I gave it 4 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ because even though it was compelling, I got confused as to which woman was narrating. I had to actually open the book and figure it out. I didn‘t think the twist was surprising enough. Perhaps the epilogue was meant to be a shocker, but I wasn‘t surprised. It certainly gave me lots of hours of reading time this week! Going to exceed my hours for #BFCr3 ! Yay!

#BFCr3 - 36,065 steps! Yay me! Read every day and finished “The Black Tulip” by Alexandre Dumas, Sr. Also still reading “The Summer Country” by Lauren Willig, “The French War Bride” by Robin Wells, “This is Our Fight” by Elizabeth Warren, and “The Wife Between Us” by Greer Hendrickson and Sarah Pekkanen. I discovered 1.25 speed on audiobooks! It becomes normal speed very quickly.

It‘s September! In August, I read 5 books 📚- that was my goal for six weeks and I did it in 1 month! Such an eclectic collection of books: Home by Julie Andrews, The Time of the Doves by Merce Rodoreda, Groot - Guardians of the Galaxy, The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo and Midnight at the Electric by Jodi Lynn Anderson. I‘m giving credit to the #BFC Book Fitness Challenge because it made me accountable. Granted, I did do the reading! Yay!

We went to our little local zoo yesterday and met this guy! I got the rest of my steps in for #BFCr3 - 38,454! Started going back to the pool for water aerobics, too. I retired from playing keyboard for the school choir, so my weekdays are free unless there‘s a funeral. More time to read!

wanderinglynn Way to go! 🙌🏻 And what a cutie! I love giraffes. ❤️ 🦒 3w

Finished this book this week and turned in my Library‘s Summer Reading Book Bingo! I had 3 possible bingos! It‘s the first time in my recollection that our library has done a summer reading activity for adults. For #BFCr3, I met my step goal with 37,254 steps and read 6.35 hours. Anyone else have a problem with the timelines in Anderson‘s book? BTW I‘m not left-handed but my husband is.

This is a picture of a section of my daughter‘s bookcase. She asked me to take it and send it because she was book shopping and didn‘t want to accidentally buy a book she already had. For #BFCr3 this week, I did around 30,000 steps (I think I need a new Fitbit) and 7.8 hours of reading! I can‘t read the numbers on my Fitbit anymore, but I think it‘s still tracking - except for that one day I took it off and forgot to put it back on...

wanderinglynn Way to go! 🙌🏻 But sorry you‘re Fitbit is dying. 1mo

My daughter, the children‘s Librarian, brought these graphic novels home for me because she knew I would love them. And she was right! There are 6 in all in the series. Groot! This is the last thing he says,

“Life is not about the shadow you cast on your enemies... but the shade you provide to your friends.” ❤️❤️❤️

Sorry I‘m late with my #BFCr3 check-in. I had a procedure done last week that kind of knocked me out - but everything is okay, so no worries. I just couldn‘t walk much or read much because I was sleeping! Anyway, I did manage to get in 33,669 steps, 6 hours of reading time and I finished listening to “Home” by Julie Andrews. She narrated it and it was very good. She gave me an insight into the life of a Broadway/stage actor that was interesting.

wanderinglynn Way to go! 🙌🏻 A solid week despite being out for your procedure. I hope everything is better. 1mo

I put my Wish on the Wishing Tree in Dublin, OH this weekend, but I won‘t tell you what I wished! Today, I‘m wishing to finish the #BFCr3 by racking up at least 35K steps per week (hopefully more) and reading at least 1 hour everyday! Let‘s go! ☘️☘️☘️📚📚📚

britt_brooke I hope your wish comes true! 🤞🏻 1mo

Hurray! I met my #BFCr2 goals: I walked at least 32,000 steps per week and I read 5 books! I‘m almost done with “Home” by Julie Andrews and I would have finished it today, but we were driving to Columbus, OH. Tomorrow we are attending the Irish Festival in Dublin, OH and I can‘t wait. Thank you #wanderinglynn for supporting me in this challenge. It wasn‘t a goal for the #BFCr2, but another goal of mine of losing 15 lbs. since March. I did it!!!

wanderinglynn Way to go! 🙌 A fantastic week! 🎉 And congrats!!! Keep up the great progress! 2mo

I finished “Manhattan Beach” today. I read the last half of the book in 2 days partly because I wanted to finish it before Sunday when I start the #buddyread of “The Summer Country” and partly because I wanted to see how things worked out. This book haunted me until I bought it and then from my bookshelf until I started reading it. It didn‘t drag for me as others have said. It was a good story - a little mystery, a twist and a satisfying ending.

I had a bad week this week - only 31,400 steps. I went to the doctor and did great, but I felt kind of let down after working so hard since March. I did make progress on my 3 books! I should have at least one done by next week, then I will be back on track. #BFCr2

wanderinglynn I'm going to delete the “only“ and make it “I walked 31+K steps this week!“ It's good to strive for more, but take time to appreciate what you did accomplish. 🎉 We all have down weeks. Take a deep breath and remember that you're making great progress, and more importantly, you haven't quit. You got this! Hang in there! 💜 2mo

My husband and I attended a local greenhouse garden party and he won a hydrangea bush that we included in our ongoing garden project. It‘s looking better - photos don‘t do it justice. Anyway, for #BFCr2 I nearly made my 40K step goal - 39,246, and I finished another book which makes 3! My A1C is below the goal my doctor set for me and I‘ve lost 13 lbs. since March, so I‘m doing okay.

I audio-crocheted to this book today. It‘s lovely. Her words are beautiful and, of course, her voice is like no other. #BFC2 Couldn‘t get the picture quite right.

Making ice cream today - yes, it‘s electric, not crank - hope it‘s good! #BFC2 update for this week: 39,740 steps - Yay! - I finished a little book, “Pisces” and made progress on 3 others. Yes, I‘m one of those that reads more than one book at a time. Happy Canada Day this week and Happy 4th of July to those that celebrate it!

Constellations: The Stars and Stories | Chris Sasaki, Joe Boddy

I‘m studying the constellations! “Pisces” by Lorraine Harrison is a children‘s book because it is my astrological sign and my daughter, the librarian, said I should read it. “Constellations” by Chris Sasaki gives each constellation, where and when to find it, and the story behind it. I am interested because when I take our dog out at 11 PM, there are so many stars in the sky and I want to learn about them. #BFC2

wanderinglynn That sounds like a fascinating book! 👍🏻👍🏻 2mo
Allylu The Constellations is really good. It tells how to look for the constellations, how to stand and where, and how to cover your flashlight so it doesn‘t interfere with finding the Stars. It also tells the stories of each constellation. I like it! 2mo

Enjoyed real Italian hot chocolate with my husband and daughters - it‘s like fudgy chocolate pudding! I need to adjust my step goal for #BFC2 because I‘m at 44,020 as of 6/28. I think I will make my goal 40,000 per week and see what happens. I also finished one book. Off to a wedding today!

wanderinglynn Great first week! 🙌 And definitely adapt your goals as needed. Sometimes it takes a week to see what works for us. (Also please remember to tag me on check-ins so you get participation credit since that's how we're doing prizes this time.) 3mo

Day 1 of #BFC2 was a success step-wise! My goal is 8,000 steps at least 4 days of the week. I‘m also reading 3 books: Manhattan Beach by Jennifer Egan, The Diabetes Code by Dr. Jason Fung and An Illustrated Treasury of Hans Christian Andersen‘s Fairy Tales.

Our Classics Book club met this week and shared our thoughts on Hans Christian Anderson‘s Fairy Tales. Each of us had a different collection - mine was the illustrated one, another was a children‘s collection from 1959 and another had his entire unabridged collection! We noticed that there isn‘t a lot of magic in his tales, but lots of “appreciate what you have” stories, the religion influences and the “riches won‘t buy you happiness” themes.

This is our Greenville Area Public Library Book club selection for May. Our Classics Book Club and our Friends of the Library Book Club are reading the same book. I‘m not sure how the “Friends” will like it, but as a classic from another culture, it gave me insight to how different the mindsets of these two cultures is. Ali and Nino try to bridge those differences with love, but the culture is so engrained, it is hard for them to ignore it.

Being a woman who sews and embroiders, not with the talent of these women, this book interested me a lot. It makes me sad to think that the women who did actually sew and embroider Queen Elizabeth‘s wedding gown didn‘t get more credit it for it. The stories of these two women‘s lives are quite interesting. I liked this book very much.
