I loved the strong sense of time and place in this novel - small town Maine in the late 1700s. The main character is a midwife - a strong woman with influence in her community, which she uses for good. Based on a real midwife, Martha Ballard, who kept a diary that has survived. Superb storytelling!

I had two hours to read in between my daughter‘s games today but forgot my Kindle. Luckily I had an emergency book in my car. And I might have taken a nap. But when I got home I started Our Lady of the Nile. It‘s engrossing so far and hopefully I‘ll get another hour in before I fall asleep. No plans and no commitments tomorrow. Stuart Woods passed away in 2022 & Battles has done a great job taking over the two series.

Just finished two creative writing teachers‘ books. Taija is the leading teacher in the whole country, and she‘s really good. Haven‘t taken any Pauliina‘s classes. Started a new book which was published yesterday. A Science Fiction book about Time Travel and the first book in the Madders of Time Series.
