God of the Woods | Liz Moore
post image
Pickpick

This was a twisty story set in 1975.The back story and the story that Liz Moore builds in this thriller is built on the culture of that time period. The character development was deep and descriptive so that you weren‘t sure what you believed from one minute to the next well written with a very interesting ending

The Covenant of Water is a lusciously descriptive novel I was completely immersed in, the characters their interesting backstories, and interconnected lives. Verghese writes with such passion about relationships, history, and medical procedures. I loved the audio but the medical procedures were not my favorite.
Such wonderful symbolism throughout this novel

This Taste of Ginger, is a story about a young woman caught between cultures of her birth land India and America the place she grew up as a young child. There are themes of racism, casteism, first generational
immigration, and homophobia. I enjoyed the interwoven stories and how they reflected the issues but also was a journey of growth and the love of family.#ReadAway2024 book 20

This was a stirring emotional book of hurt and hopelessness but also love, and resilience. What I love about J.P books is that you are pulled in there is always something unexpected and she uses wonderful symbolism. I think Boylan also added so much. Probably a unpopular opinion but this story fell flat for me, four sisters close together in so many ways and yet they get pulled apart in a very family drama way. This was a wonderful historical fiction, set in the 1853 on the Oregon trail Naomi a recent young widow travels with her family to California to start a new life. John who is part Pawnee and part white called a two foot is a mule handler and decides to take this trip and the adventure begins. If anyone like 1883 the prequel to Yellowstone you would like this book. Also some of the characters are based on true people.I will read this author again
