I‘m on page 76. I‘m bored to tears. Book club is tonight. 😒

I may not get any reading done before the end of the year. This little thing came home today! #dogsoflitsy
I have a dream of running away to the woods. I‘m way too much of a delicate flower to ever actually do it.
So I thought this would be interesting but I liked it a lot more than I expected to!
I loved this!! This book is so relevant and timely. Very well written, interesting and thoughtful. Lots of statistics but easily accessible.
I got this from the Libby app but I will need to own a paper copy for reference. I know I will go back to this one. I find this happens when I listen to really good non-fiction. Does anyone else do this? #nonfictionnovember
***PROFANITY WARNING!!! IF YOU ARE BOTHERED BY SWEARING PLEASE KEEP SCROLLING!!!***
1. Saw it on Instagram and thought it was HILARIOUS! Anyone who is needs this- it‘s from Fleurty Girl in New Orleans. 😜
2. Everyone loves the curry I make, taught to me by someone in a store who felt the need to teach me how.
3. SWEET FUCK ALL!!!! And I can‘t wait!
4. 🤷🏻♀️ changes all the time
5. 🍁 sweaters and snuggles but Fall makes me 😢
I‘ve been resisting Kate Morton for a while. I‘m not totally sure why but maybe it‘s these covers.🤷🏻♀️ Anyway I put her on my summer reading list and this will not be my last! I really enjoyed this one. I went book shopping yesterday and already got another one. 😄
At 13% on the audio and I feel like I‘m not connecting with this one. Why is she talking about SCRABBLE?? Am I missing something? Is this called bad feminist because feminism is not really what this book is about? Am I being too quick to judge?
Part one of this book was fast paced and compelling. Part two was....... repulsive. I hated it and couldn‘t wait for it to be over but I was so far in that I felt I had to find out what happens. Clare Mackintosh writes unlikeable characters very well so I‘m giving it a so-so but honestly if I had known where this was going I wouldn‘t have picked it up in the first place. Another #unpopularopinion. I think that‘s the theme to my reading year!
What the....?? How did this happen? Anyone have any recs for a good audiobook?
Audible daily deal. Worth it? I‘ve read reviews saying creepy and good and some saying not. I was creeped out by The Bear and a little bit by The Lost Girls of Camp Forevermore so I‘m thinking I might be overly creeped out.
I am giving this a “pick” because it was very compelling but it could have been a lot better. I know some people don‘t like the non-linear structure but I liked that. I just think the author could have delved deeper into each character and the ending was very abrupt. It felt unfinished to me. I still enjoyed it more than a so-so. #summerreading
1. It‘s supposed to rain all weekend so reading is the plan. I have a couple of dinners to go to otherwise. It‘s a long weekend in Canada this weekend!!!
2. I will finish The Dry tomorrow and that will make 5.
3. Summer because Canada 🇨🇦
4. I‘ve been to a lot of great concerts! My favourites have been Trombone Shorty, Prince and all time fav Paul McCartney.
Happy Friday Everyone!!!!
Don‘t get me wrong, Joe Hill is an exceptional writer. This book however, is waaaay too long and far more graphic than it needed to be. I liked a lot about it but those two major issues mean that I‘ll have to give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️. Kate Mulgrew‘s narration of the audiobook is fantastic, just like Nos4a2.
I actually listened to all of The Seven Wives of Evelyn Hugo (I usually abandon stuff I don‘t like) and I rolled my eyes so hard and so often I thought they were going to stay that way! I also really didn‘t like Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah but it gets great reviews. One more: I can‘t understand why I don‘t love The Night Circus but I just can‘t finish it. #unpopularopinions @Libby1
Someone recently posted a question about a character you‘ve wanted to slap and at the time I couldn‘t think of anyone. Yesterday I started listening to The Fireman and I basically want to punch everyone, except Harper. I‘ve literally told a few characters to eff off in the car. Out loud to myself so no editing.
Sooo good!!! I had been putting this one off because I thought it would too sad. It is absolutely heartbreaking but I can‘t stop and I‘m glad I started it. I love books about families throughout generations and this is very ambitious to tell the stories of two half sisters in Ghana and the generations that come after them. I can‘t believe this is Yaa Gyasi‘s first novel.
I‘m trying to get out of a slump and @TheBookHippie recommended I try a well loved middle grade. Well I can‘t remember if I read this in 4th or 6th grade but now I remember where I got the dream of running away and living in the woods. Haven‘t lost that! Between this and a Greg Iles on audio I‘m feeling better about reading life!
Last year I read 14 5 star books. This year so far I have read 2. I admit I‘m stingy with my stars but lately I haven‘t read anything that I‘ve really loved. The last few books I‘ve read have high rating on Litsy and on goodreads but I didn‘t enjoy any of them! 😞 I don‘t know what to do! Reread something I love? I‘m getting frustrated!!
I had a busy day yesterday but I had a few minutes to run to the bookstore. They had a promotion where if you bought a card you had a chance to get 5-100% off. I got 100!!!! I got four books and the card for FREE!!! 😄💃🏻📚
I‘m outside!!!! It‘s a beautiful day! I needed this rather badly after this wicked winter! Happy Saturday!!
Wow! This is such a short book that packs a powerful punch. The audio is great. I unintentionally listened to most of it at 1.5 speed and I should have slowed it down sooner because the pace of the verse is perfect at regular speed. Sometimes authors shouldn‘t read their own work but this is not one of those times. Jason Reynolds is great!
Brand new copy of Forever... I haven‘t read it yet. I had to go get a copy to do the #buddyread because I couldn‘t get it on Libby.
I feel like I have been reading this FOREVER!!! 😫😫
It‘s this month‘s irl book club choice and guess who suggested it? That‘s right, it was me. I am usually an unapologetic bailer but since I have to lead the discussion I‘m forcing myself to finish. I have until Tuesday to finish but I‘m only half way through.
I‘m just happy to be finished this! I bought it on sale on Audible even though my first instinct was that I probably wouldn‘t like it but I‘d heard and seen lots of positive reviews so I went for it. A lot of my dislike for this book could be the narrator who just did not resonate with me but also I can‘t stand a break and get back together then break up again tale! I wonder if it‘d be different on the page. #unpopularopinion #audiblesalefail
When your Libby holds come in earlier than expected!! Yay!! After listening to when they call you a terrorist on the way to work this morning I‘m sure I‘ll need to interchange these two because it‘s definitely emotional. Honestly I don‘t know if I‘m strong enough to listen to the whole thing. I was near tears right at the beginning. “We have to hope.”
I can‘t remember the last time I read YA non-fiction. Not sure I ever have. 🤔 Anyway this is super interesting. The writing is very straightforward. It‘s almost like reporting. The chapters are very short. However, there are so many interesting issues to be discussed. Also I think that I am very opened minded and accepting and I found the “they” pronoun difficult to get used to. That surprised me. Overall though an excellent book.
@jesshowbooks #friyayintro 1. There is nothing I want to do less than watch Tom Brady for hours. But we are going to a party so....
2. High of -16C but wind chill of -34. It‘s really cold.
3. Just started Beartown.
5. Will do ✋🏼
And apparently it feels like -39. I'm not exactly looking forward to going to work today. 😕
This happened so my plans to people are off. While I am sort of disappointed it means I get to #litsypartyofone and I'm here for it!! 🎉🎉
One of the libraries in the city I live near is being renovated and they found this in the stacks as they were clearing out the shelves. So cute!!! Future Litten! 😄❤️📚 #librarylove
HELP ME!!!! We just got a last minute invite to a cabin for the weekend. I started Every Heart a Doorway yesterday but I'll probably finish it by the time we get to the lake. I've narrowed down my choices to these but I CANNOT make a decision!!! I realize this is a nice problem to have but I need help!! #tbr #toomanytochoosefrom
I devoured this. I can't say what I was expecting but it wasn't this. It is outstanding. I'll be returning to this I'm sure and I am not usually a rereader. Donna Tartt's narration is fabulous also.
