For #weeklyfavorites, I‘m sharing the tagged book that I just finished reading. I liked it. It‘s a cozy, witchy book with the found family trope. I‘ve been in a funk since Hurricane Beryl hit me over here in SE TX last week. I‘m lucky I survived the hurricane because 11 people have died from it here. Maybe it‘s because God isn‘t finished with me yet but either way, I‘m grateful to be alive. I‘ve been thinking about that a lot.

Here‘s my progress on this book I started last week when I lost power during Hurricane Beryl. It‘s taken me all week just to get this far in the book. 3 people are waiting to read this book at my library but I‘m almost finished. I just feel bad that I‘m keeping other people waiting. After Hurricane Beryl happened last week, I‘ve been in a funk and my reading has slowed down but I‘m hoping that I won‘t be in a funk next month.

I almost forgot to post this. I started this book last week when I didn‘t have power. I tried to get on the internet last week but it was spotty so whenever I was able to get online, I downloaded this book on Libby. It works really well for a reading challenge that I‘m participating in. I like it. I hope to finish it soon. It feels like a very cozy book and I feel like cozy books are what I need right now.

Cute book! Characters were humorous and sweet, while the story was fun and quirky. What a great find!

Extra points for the #audiobook narrator who was super easy on the ears.

Overall, an interesting concept that I felt failed in execution. It's an easy read but the story and its characters are mostly forgettable.

I really enjoyed this. I didn't find any of the revolutions surprising but did have a warm cuddly feeling throughout. Thought there was a good balance what could have been a too sweet story has a couple scenes of spice and excitement. The actions of the characters throughout made a lot of sense and I enjoyed spending time with all the characters.

So cozy. Flying through this one. Book #9 this year.

A very soft pick for its cozy vibes. However, at places it was a little bland for me.

What a heartwarming book about coming into one's own and found family. The characters were absolutely enchanting (even grumpy Jamie). While the plot wasn't overly original, the book was well executed. Quite simply, it was a delightful read.

This cozy palate cleanser I picked up has me reminiscing about all my witchy reads growing up. I think my queerness ached to find others who felt different before I even knew what I was seeking myself.

The quote goes on, “To be at Nowhere House was to put herself in very real peril, so why then did she feel safer than she ever had before?”

I loved this book! Somehow very appropriate to read at Christmastime, this was a cozy story of found family, learning to trust yourself & others, and a great witchy magic system.
Samara MacLaren is a wonderful audio narrator, so I would recommend listening to it.
I‘d definitely read more from Mandanna in the future. Highly recommend!

Cute, fun read. Odd backstory on origins of witches and their families. Heartwarming coming together of people to make a nontraditional family. Bit of romance. Lacked depth for me but enjoyable.

I absolutely loved this one! I was looking for something light and romantic and got far more than I expected!
Beautiful story about found family and how the world can always change, even if it is little by little.

I did not see the major plot twist coming😄

This witchy book stole the show for the month! But I can't choose between it and A Restless Truth just yet so putting a hold on that decision until later...

Okay add me to the long list of people who rave about this book. It was SO SWEET. It is the definition of cozy. I loved the girls, I loved the magic, I loved the romance. The conflict was there, but just low stakes enough to not ping my anxiety.
Just read this, if you haven't already. I'm so glad I own this book, I can see it becoming an annual reread.
Also I want some of Mika's tea ☕✨

This is just a lovely little book, sweet and heartfelt and maybe just the right amount of silly. The perfect fall read, like a warm cup of tea on a chilly day.

This was cute. There was a plot point that irritated me, but by the end I didn't really care anymore. It's not the kind of book I feel like I should take too seriously, I guess? It was a sweet, quick read.

I get why everyone likes this book. It has a great cast of characters that are all well done, even the minor characters are thoughtful and fit with the story. The plot and prose are excellent. Even if you are not in to paranormal books you should read this book. 4.5 ⭐️

This felt like it was trying to be too many things at once. But I mostly enjoyed it despite this and its predictability. Will I remember it a year from now? Unlikely.

The House in the Cerulean Sea (to which this is often compared) is the better novel.

This was absolutely delightful! I‘d heard nothing but good things and I‘m so glad I decided to read it. A great story about witches for this time of year, but also a wonderful “found family” story.

Except for a completely unnecessary sex scene (I‘m not averse to them if they are well-integrated and necessary — this one is neither), I quite liked this story about a young witch, Mika Moon, who, after years of being alone and believing it always has to be that way, finally finds her place in the world. I started Finding Dorothy as my new walking book. #audiowalk

This was a cute story about found family. I never really understood James like at all. He would think one thing, go do the exact opposite and then think “why did I do that?” for the entire book. I think it would have been a much better book if the romance had been ditched entirely. 4⭐️

More walking today. Positive news about my brother, so that helped. When I go home next week, I won‘t feel the need to rush back so soon. This book is about so much more than witchcraft — it‘s also about loneliness and community. It fits my mood. #audiowalk
