This book has me all in my feels and it‘s only the fifth chapter and I‘m on my lunch break… every time Backman… every time!

I‘ve read a few Backman books over the years. He‘s a great writer, but this one is special. I laughed, I cried, I cheered them all on. I loved how he had the characters of today telling the stories of their time together 25 years ago. It has all the feels in all the right ways. 14/15 is such a unique age/time and the friendship he captured is truly one of a kind. This one stole my heart. My last read of 2025 was by far my favorite read of 2025 ❤️

My #Litsypenpal @Beck9lol has done it again! These bookish exchanges make the holidays happy since I don‘t have much family left to celebrate with. I‘ve learned to embrace wonderful friendships and all the great memories they can bring. Three of these books are new to me authors and can‘t wait to dive into them. I love it all and thanks, Becky, for making birthdays, Halloween and Christmas special. Happy Holidays to you all! 🎄❤️

The audio version was fantastic. Art, crime, trains, and amazing characters that my own friends could never live up to 😉. What more could one ask for.
Backman‘s writing can be so in your face at times that it takes you by surprise. Everything would be going smooth and suddenly he will show a very different and dark aspects of his characters!!!

My Friends is one of those rare books I‘ll actually keep and share. I loved the characters and felt like I truly knew them by the end.The story is filled with meaningful life lessons and captures the beauty and complexity of friendships that last from childhood into adulthood. It can be a bit slow at times, but that pace makes it feel all the more real—true to life in the best way. A heartfelt, thoughtful read that lingers long after the last page

Starting today for our book club! It gets me a bingo!

I know I say this all the time, but the book was too long. It was a good story, with a flat ending and the middle part just dragged a bit. A low pick.
I can safely say that Backman is now on the list of my favourite writers after reading this one, loads of things going through my mind after reading this, it‘s highly recommended, please oh please add it to your TBR, you will not regret it!!!

At the end of his life he only wished for what almost all of us wish for: to have our childhood summers back ☀️
How many damn books have you actually read?
Not nearly enough.
📖📚

I kind of disagree here, the part about failure but as a new parent this is a scary thought!!!

Just a few pages and I can sense that this will make cry!!! The sadness and tragedy are so palpable in only the first few chapters😢😢

My Friends is another warm and thoughtful story from Fredrik Backman. I really enjoyed the way he brings out the beauty in everyday life and makes ordinary characters feel so real and relatable. The book is touching, funny in places, and deeply moving at others. Even when the pacing slows down, it feels intentional—like you‘re meant to pause and reflect along with the characters. I had to pause and let it all sink in at the end!
Started reading this today and I can't believe how have I not a Fredrik Backman until now. Has a good start and here's hoping that it ends well too and I end up loving it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

I almost skipped this month but decided on the literary fiction and added the Backman. #BOTM

Another beloved read by Backman. Much more melancholy than others of his I‘ve read, but so beautiful nonetheless.
“I love you and I believe in you.” 💚 #readyourkindle

This book, and Backman‘s writing, is everything I love about reading.

I finished listening to this book this afternoon, and it has all the emotions. There‘s so much humor mixed with so much frustration, anger, and sadness for these characters. I thought Backman did an amazing job of weaving together the past and present stories.

What beautiful, funny book about friendship and art. I did the audio but I think I will get the physical copy for the quotes, my only complaint it was a little too long

Fabulous. This book gave me all the feels - laughter, joy, inspiration, sadness, anger- and reminded me about the joys and hardships of being young.
Louisa is grieving the loss of her human, fish when she literally stumbles straight into her lifelong icon, artist C Jatz. He bequeaths his most valuable painting to her. his human, Ted finds Louisa to gift it to her. She latches onto him for a train ride that will turn into one of the greatest tales she‘s ever heard - what C jat really stands for and how they all wound up together. Heart wrenching, beautiful but a bit redundant throughout

@TheLudicReader - thank you for the beautiful #fallcardswap card. It was a stressful day and this was a wonderful surprise. @TheBookHippie

@TheBookHippie - #fallcardswap going in the mail. My mom, daughter and I spent a lovely afternoon together making the cards.
I am listening to this on audio and am very moved by the characters. However I know I am going to go back to my print edition I got on pre-order last spring. There are just so many beautiful and profound lines in this book. I need to mark them. Lines that sum@up life or emotion as stand alone thoughts.

Another great one from Backman! Great characters and all the feelings here!

so good! 5/5. top read of the year so far in that is makes me feel things. sad things, happy things and profound things…. Backman is a top tier modern author who reveals the reality of life around us and within us.

I really loved this! What a great author His characters are wonderful. His books always make me laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time His writing is uplifting despite the serious topics he touches on. I was chuffed to read the passage about ‘his brain being like classmates doing a group assignment‘ This is a reference to a very funny speech Backman made on procrastination at a conference. It‘s on YouTube. Look it up. You won‘t be disappointed

I read this right when it came out and man, I just love Backman‘s writing style. I really connected with the friend group and appreciated hearing about their lives as teens and as adults. The focus on art was great, though I love his books even when they‘re about hockey (which I don‘t care about at all), so I guess the topic doesn‘t really matter. 🤷🏻♀️ Also, the more interviews I read/watch with this author, the more respect I gain for him.

“…. a really good summer vacation should only really have two days: the first, and the last. All the ones in between should be nameless, it shouldn‘t matter if it‘s Tuesday or Sunday. In a good summer, everything is all just bicycles and comic books and salt water, time being wasted with the sun on your face.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

sigh. perfection. again. circle stories aren't as prevalent in adult titles as they are in children's stories and this one was done beautifully. I also felt some ties to The Princess Bride (found family, other words for love, etc) and I appreciated it even more having just read The Art Thief because owning art, and appreciating art in a shared space is expressed at length and it gave me a great readers perspective while enjoying this book as well.
