I don‘t know anything about this book except that it involves three favorite Litten authors, Jane Austen, Mrs. Gaskell, and Charlotte Brontë. And it‘s free for #Kindle today. #ebook #kindlefreebie

Happy National Pig Day! Here are a few books from my porcine collection. 🐷
I was gone all day yesterday and came home to find these lovely (and color-coordinated 😁) birthday gifts from @LeahBergen .
The Pangur Ban book is intriguing (the look on that cat‘s face!) And I‘ve been wanting the LMM Short stories for ages. What I love about both these books is that I can just dip in and out of them as the fancy strikes me. ⬇️
Here are my #ReadYourKindle books for February:
12 Selling Hope
14 Mrs. Narwhal‘s Diary
17 The Secret Keeper
18 When Franny Stands Up
I previously said I was going to read #12 first, but I‘ve decided to switch to #18 (the tagged book) instead, in an effort to kill two birds with one stone. 😄 #NetgalleyBacklog
#ReadYourEbooks #ReadYourNook
I don‘t know if I would have picked this book on my own, because the subject matter was so painful. But I absolutely raced through it, and would definitely try other books by this author.

I hate to admit defeat, but I‘m giving up on #thebros. Sorry, #PemberLittens, but it‘s just not for me.

My Miss Bianca library (thanks to @BookieMary who collects this series, and is kind enough to pass on her copies when she upgrades). Now that I‘ve reread the first book, I want to read all of them. 🐭 #childrensclassicread2024
I have mixed feelings about this book. The story was interesting, and I wanted to find out what happened, but it was also sometimes almost unbearably raw and painful. That‘s the reason I gave it a So-So, rather than a pick, because there were multiple times I almost bailed.
Here‘s a photo of what seems to be the “modified habit” mentioned in the book. I can see why it would have been both a shock and a relief to wear it.

As smart as Judy was, you‘d think she‘d have known better than to drink cocoa concocted by Clara. 😏

My 2024 reading planner. The B is supposed to stand for Bridgerton, but since I‘m only a casual fan, I‘ve decided the B stands for books. 😄

My #firstlast #lastfirst books for 2023. The tagged book was also one of my #CloakAndDaggerChristmas picks.
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate. And Happy Reading, which I know all Littens celebrate. 😄
What a lovely Christmas surprise from @LeahBergen !
You found me a book I‘ve never heard of, which I can‘t wait to read! And how did you know I‘ve been wanting to read The Armourer‘s House, and have been drooling over that Manderley Press edition? 😊 A bookmark, bookish card, and chocolate make for a perfect reading experience. Thank you so much!
P.S. I‘ll be saving that adorable kitty washi tape in my planner. 😸
Like others, I was reluctant to read this, but in spite of the constant feeling of dread, I couldn‘t put it down. I certainly can‘t understand the hold Patrick and Lewis held over women; they must have had some serious “rizz.” 🫤
Although not the Persephone cover, I found this one chilling.

I just finished watching this series for the first time (I know, I‘m late to the party). This cute little book perfectly captures the relationship between Lorelai and Rory, and the lovable quirkiness of Stars Hollow.

Here are my picks, both about children, in a barn or in the Blitz.

2. The Cat Who Caught a Killer - L T Shearer
3. Tied Up in Tinsel - Ngaio Marsh
4. Mistletoe Malice - Kathleen Farrell
5. Last Night at the Hollywood Canteen - Sarah James
6. The Dinner Lady Detectives - Hannah Henry
7. Malice - Keigo Higashino
8. The Cold Kid Case - Rosalind Barden
Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate! 🦃📚
We all know this would be the true horror for Littens!
This was my second reading, and I enjoyed it even more this time. It made me sad (and a bit annoyed) that Joan was never able to grow beyond Miss Gilbey‘s assessment of her.

I loved Scissors and Keith Prowse, but of course, Nicky and Sadie‘s favorite character was Penny. 😹
We all loathed Dulcie, though.

This book is almost like Barbra talking to you. I loved this description of movie candy.
Sadie wishes you all a very Happy Halloween. #catsoflitsy #didyoubringyourbroomstick #Halloween
My favorite fictional spirit is Captain Gregg from the tagged book. I don‘t picture him as depicted on this vintage dust jacket, though. Rex Harrison and Edward Mulhare are more my taste in sea captains. 😄
#SundayFunday
Happy Birthday @LeahBergen 🎂🎂🎂
Have a wonderful day, dear friend. 😘
Now that I‘ve seen Doris, I can‘t help picturing her as Stephanie. And Lorenzo looks pretty crabby about what‘s happening to his pictures.
I enjoyed this, but my favorite part was Sir Harry‘s well-deserved punishment—being married to bossy Beatrix.

I enjoyed this book (although it dragged a bit for me in spots). I found Joe very endearing, and was glad to see both him and Miss Carter move on to the next phases of their lives. (But what did she do with all the jewels?)
The photo is a glimpse of how Joe might have sometimes decorated Georgina‘s flat.

“ … I call it the Star Wars prayer. All that language referring to interstellar space and galaxies; you half expect Darth Vader to pop up.”
I enjoyed this book. I never thought Jane would actually decide to become a nun, but I think she was able to find a good balance in her secular and spiritual lives.
#NunLit #NunLitQuarterly
I enjoyed this, and I loved Birdie, but the disregard (and cruelty) towards animals was very jarring. I also found the ending rather abrupt; I wonder how long Mr. Slater‘s change of heart will last? 😏
#ChildrensClassicRead
The word I would choose to describe this book is “claustrophobic.” Ruth‘s marriage to the horrible Rex, being trapped with Miss de Beer, and the whole lifestyle of the Common. Very interesting, but I‘m glad Angela could escape and, although the writing is excellent, I‘m glad to escape as well.
Does anyone else think this Persephone endpaper gives off a Handmaid‘s Tale vibe?

@Tamra The book arrived today, in a lovely mailing envelope. Thank you so much! #persephoneclub #persephone
Also showing off my new sign (and life motto). 🤣
Before we leave Cranford, I had to share this picture of my favorite character, Miss Betsy Barker‘s Alderney.
I‘m wondering if the cow had anything to do with Captain Brown‘s tragic demise? After all, as well as suggesting the flannel ensemble, he also recommended Miss Betsy “kill the poor creature at once.” Was that Alderney anywhere near the railroad tracks? 🤔🐄🤣

Happy Birthday to two of my favorite authors, Maud Hart Lovelace and Elizabeth Goudge. ❤️🎂
Happy Easter to all who celebrate. And lots of books, reading time, and candy to all Littens! 🐣🐰🪺 🍫
Very sad news. 😢 #BookDepository

I enjoyed this once it got going, although I actually found Helen‘s story the dullest, with the Cobb family the most interesting. I wish Laura had gotten some gumption and re-joined the service. Peter Gurney could have used some gumption too.
The term “Civvy Street” was new to me.
