I randomly came across this graphic novel/comic series and the illustration style drew me in immediately. Cute story so far. I will definitely be getting ahold of the other two volumes soon.

So far I'd say it is a pretty middle of the road cozy paranormal mystery series. Not saying that as a bad thing it's an easy enjoyable series. I like the many different characters that make up the melting pot of Spellbound where they are all trapped. My one "complaint" is how quickly Emma accepts she's just trapped forever and oh by the way you're a magical being.

The June Boys is one of the best YA mystery books I've read so far. I just happened upon it while browsing and gave it a shot. I have to admit I thought I knew who did it but I was wrong. I really like the mysteries like that. I'm glad I listened to the author's notes on this book afterwards. I was confused why Aulus called his letters The Elizabeth Letters. I had just assumed they were for his cousin Thea.

Grier and Linus should have known it couldn't be a real honeymoon if they didn't manage to find trouble. I loved these shorter stories to show their lives after the series ended.

I love the friendship that Grier and Lethe have developed over the time from the last book to this first book of the epilogues. Though definitely the weirdest idea for a bachelorette party I've read. Some how though it sounds perfectly in line with the characters

I'm a bit sad that I'm reaching the end of the series and the Grier/Linus story. This has made it to my list of favorite series. Grier really steps it up into her own woman and taking on a lot more responsibility. I did have a small thing I found weird but I don't want to spoil anything. Overall though this series really built a fun world and characters. Some series start to drop off after a book or two but I didn't feel that way with this series.

First read of the month was this paranormal cozy mystery. It wasn't a new favorite but it was alright. I do see room for potential as the storyline develops more and the characters are more fleshed out. I'm hoping that's the case because I find the premise and cast of characters interesting. I will at least read the next one and see.

I've become pretty fond of Grier and her crew. I do admit part of this one irritated me and made me want to slap one or two of them. 😒 Poor Grier though they really are attacking her at all angles now. Her lessons with Linus are really helping her start to find herself and her confidence.

These books have been good easy reads and sometimes that's exactly what you need. I've been listening to the audiobooks and I enjoy the narrator too. Grier has become the official Dame Woolworth while also working her ghost tours. She goes hunting for a magical creature that's killing others and has to be stopped.

I completely forgot to review these. I'm now on book 4 of the series so I love them. This is the first book of the Beginner's Guide to Necromancy by Hailey Edwards. If you like these type of books I definitely recommend this series! Without spoiling too the series starts out with Grier is adjusting to life back home after being in a prison. She returns home to her magical sentient house Wooly and has a zombie parakeet.

What. 😱 The whole thing is just too much for one book. I found most of it too slow and not interesting until about 3/4 the way through. Then suddenly here comes the twists making it better. By the end though it was overwhelming in the story. Some things just didnt make sense. Without spoiling too much I feel bad for Bob being the only sane being in the whole book and he's a dog.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Awww man!! I was hoping this one was going to be good! 2mo

Of course the dachshund on the cover of a mystery caught my attention and I'm glad it did! It was an enjoyable cozy mystery with a lot of heart. Reading all about the whole family and close knit community made you want to go have a potluck with the characters. Of course...be careful what you eat. I also appreciate the author including a glossary for all of the words and phrases.

Loved this one! It's hard to describe. It feels like a part historical/wild west, part sci-fi and part dystopian world where the Welcome Houses (brothels) where they take mostly the lower class girls that have been sold off. The book follows a group of the “Good Luck Girls“ on the run of their lifetime.

These few sentences reminded me of my little sausage dog. ?
"We both had stubby legs and were out of shape, so she made the perfect running buddy. I guess I underestimated how out of shape we both were because a mile out, just as we were about to reach the riverwalk, she splayed out on the pavement and refused to take another step. The lazy little sausage made me pick her up and walk back."

To be honest this was a quick mostly irritating read for me. If you're anything like me half the read you keep saying "what the heck is wrong with yall??!?" and wanting to chunk the book. JJ really wasn't that likeable. I kept feeling bad for Phillip but he kept going along with stuff. I was sure I wasn't going to read anymore of the series until the last parts of the book. They are older now though maybe the story can redeem itself.

I really enjoyed Silence for the Dead by Simone St. James. I still have a few questions i wished were answered but for the most part it tied up nicely. Set in WWI at a recovery home for soldiers that were considered unwell after the war. Kitty has come there pretending to be a nurse to escape her past and quickly learns all is not as it seems. There is a little bit of everything in this book mystery, ghosts and even a little romance along the way.
