Except comic books, I'm a slow reader unless a book demands otherwise. I don't order books by mail these days, only what I can find when out & about.

Thank you @Dabbe for creating this play~tag~share card.

1 - Dracula

2 - Dark Shadows' vampire, Barnabas Collins (from the original 1960s/70s TV show and the 1991 TV remake).

🤔 maybe I do have a thing for bats ☺️...

3 - Regina Mills (played by Lana Parrilla) from ABC TV show, Once Upon A Time.

dabbe 1&2: 🤩🤩
Never heard of #3;I'll have to check it out!

Thank you @TheSpineView for creating this play~tag~share card.

1- would it be strange to say, every meal? With all our allergies, we have to make everything...while it can become annoying sometimes (time consuming), it is a true artform.

2- Jughead Jones from Archie Comics! Always hungry with a fierce appetite that never fails to make me crave a sandwich! 🥪😉🤭. & Scooby Doo too!

AnnCrystal I have learned to tag😉☺️❕. 3d
Jari-chan I loved Scooby Doo as a kid! 🤩 3d
AnnCrystal @Jari-chan I know, right! I have always ❤️ Scooby 🐾 & “Shaggy“ 💝. I used to dream about getting my own VW van and starting my own ghost hunting team...😄 (edited) 3d

Definitely ❕ I have always been enticed by what a story promises to be about 💕📚, not the age range a story was written for...🌞😊.

Of course, I was a faster reader when I was younger. Could finish a book in eight to sixteen days (two to six days for a really good book). Still slow, yet now I'm just plain sluggish LOL 😉.

BookmarkTavern I‘ve slowed down too! 😅 Thanks for posting! 5d

Saw this post. Only a couple of days remaining, yet still wanted to share.

My mom went to Fairytale Town (Sacramento, CA) when she was a kid, and took my brother and I there when we were children. Wonderful place💕🥰.

Fairytale Town is a theme park.

The event posted above is for the Scholastic Book Fair.

Even while my family has moved away from Sacramento, CA, my mom follows Fairytale Town's news feed.

1- Catwoman (is she a heroine??)

2-Danica Shardae from Hawksong (Book number one in the Kiesha'ra Series) by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. Been years since I've read...loved, love the whole series.

3-Any “one“ of the leading girls from the Old Kingdom Series by Garth Nix. (Excluding the newest book... haven't read that yet. Can't believe there is a new book release for that series and I have yet to make the time to go to a bookstore!! Shame on me).

dabbe 1. Catwoman is on her own quest, so absolutely! One might even call her an anti-heroine because she goes against the grain so to speak.

I've put the other two on my TBR because I haven't read them! Thanks for playing! 🧡💜🧡

Somehow we nearly always miss the releases of Indigenous U.S. Postal Stamps. Today, my mom was thrilled when they had these in stock! How epic 😊.

Oh, a note of caution. While at the post office, an older gentleman informed my mom that thieves seem to be applying sticky residue on outdoor mailboxes. He claimed to have had some mail stolen because of this.

I've noticed many who mail a lot here on Litsy. Just wanted to let you all know.

1-Not a familiar? A Wolverine.

2-Ghosts, Graphic Novel by Raina Telgemeier. While not Halloween themed, it's an interesting read on All Hollows Eve for Day of the Dead.

3-A mysterious witch. Don't always. I like getting creative.

4-LOVE themed socks. Difficult to find in natural fabrics.

5-with Halloween as part of the storyline? Love Hocus Pocus...yet Lady in White 1988 competes as a favorite.

6-as a child, my brother and I loved Candy Corn.

AnnCrystal Wait, was this for a book swop group of some kind?? If so, let me know and I will delete. I am not a member. My apologies. 2w

Picking favorites is always difficult for me, I change my mind everY three seconds LOL ☺️.

1-2-3 the first three that come to me are:

CBS Ghost

Arsenic and Old Lace 1944

Mrs. Doubtfire 1993

dabbe I've never heard of CBS Ghost. I'll have to look into that! OMG: love Arsenic and Old Lace w/ Cary Grant! 🤩 And Mrs. Doubtfire ... one of Robin's best (DEAD POETS' SOCIETY is my fave of his). Thanks for playing! 🧡💜💛 2w
AnnCrystal @dabbe 👍🎬. I still need to catch the, Dead Poetry Society. Hope you like Ghost. It's a newish show from CBS. Based on the BBC version. Never seen the BBC Ghost... (edited) 2w

AnnCrystal @dabbe 🎉👍. It is really good. I hope you do like the show CBS Ghost. 1-It would definitely be my big brother, Uly Joey. Actually, can I upgrade this to a banquet? I have many on the other side who I'd like to catch up with.

2-I've made mistakes, I'd like the chance to change the worst of them. Maybe go back to when I was nine years old and rewrite it all...

3-Can anyone guess 🦇? ☺️😉...However, my favorite collection are typewriters. I only have a handful. One belonged to my maternal Aunt Linda (late aunt).

PageShifter Does that mean Batman or real bats? Might be a stupid question, but I wasn't sure 😁 Typewriters sound super cool 💜 (edited) 2w
AnnCrystal @PageShifter LOL... 💯% Batman.

Although, I do like the real bat too.

While off subject a bit...you may find the following interesting.

Not a drinker myself, yet was sad to hear that the blue agave plant (aka, the tequila plant although there are also other uses for/gifts from the blue agave plant) is in danger because a species of bat has become endangered, The Mexican long-nosed bat....

AnnCrystal @PageShifter P.S. I do love typewriters. I feel they were the last big step up in technology for the writer. Made simply for the written page, you know. Nothing more, nothing less. Lasts forever if we'll taken care of, can be repaired like new, no upgrades required...etc. 2w
PageShifter Oh yes, that's a good example of how everything is connected. It's not just one species of animals that has became endangered but there is other living things that suffers too with them. We who love words can't anything else than love typewriters. I loved to write with one when I was a child :D 2w

We've considered such things. The way we address this is to buy the closest to genuinely natural as possible, and be grateful that those options are available.

Not easy, true. It's a journey. We began years ago & continue to learn & apply.

My mom has become better at this, the minute I see one of my obsessions I am again lost to non-eco bric-a-brac.

Batman, Encanto, anything Christmassy, fantasy or ghostly, garden deco. Etc. Etc. I'm horrible!

AnnCrystal This would be funny if not so serious an issue... 3w
PageShifter I have this book in my TBR. But oh boy, yeah definitely serious. I have days when I hope to know less... 3w

#1- While my favorite character on Grimm (TV show 2011-2017) is Monroe, Nick and Juliette were my favorite pairing. Can't believe they split them up like that, they could have been such a power couple...(can't believe I missed my chance for the DVD collection).

#2 - Batman and Catwoman. I know, not a couple. Nonetheless, I love when these two come together.

#3 - Morgan and Hunter from The Sweep Series by Cate Tiernan.

AnnCrystal Ok, now I'm over considering...William Powell and Myrna Loy from the Thin Man movies and Jonmarc and Carina from the Chronicles of the Necromancer books by Gail Z. Martin are contenders...and this list goes on... (edited) 3w
dabbe 1. I've never seen that tv show. Can you still stream it somewhere?
2. There's definite chemistry between those two! 😍

AnnCrystal @dabbe I don't have streaming. I hope you find it. Grimm is one of my mom and my favorites. Too good. Way too addictive. Nick was terrible with Juliette...he should have never walked out on her that first night she told him the truth... that he made her a Hexenbiest (a type of witch on the show).

The sweep series is actually a book 📚 series (15 books). I should have mentioned that.

Found A Poster! Youthful Bruce Wayne with a tease of Batman in the background...an awesome bonus that came tucked into the back of the book!

One extra note, if I went into this believing there would be a Batman appearance at some point, I would have been disappointed and would not have appreciated this story. This truly is about Bruce Wayne before he becomes Batman. Yet, since Bruce is heroic, one could consider this as Batman in beta mode LOL.

Fast paced. A bit dark, yet, it's Gotham.

Managed not to get me down, like the latest Batman movie. Yet, it was less focused on crimes and chaos, and more on Bruce Wayne's reaction and response to these things.

Bruce Wayne's characteristics are genuine. Funny when Dianne describe Bruce as a knight, when we all know who Bruce will become.

Always liked seeing Batman and Catwoman together. Madeleine seems an interesting pairing with Bruce Wayne.

blurb
AnnCrystal
post image

Strange, while Batman is not officially part of the story, I can feel the character lurking throughout, between the pages.

I hadn't expected that.

Perhaps because I went into this story knowing there would be no Batman appearances, I am enjoying the subtle traits that makes Bruce Wayne, Batman.

blurb
AnnCrystal
post image

OK. This has become a whole lot darker than I expected.

It's not terribly gruesome, just...I don't know, I guess the way reality is right now makes Gotham City all the more unsettling. Dreadful.

On the upside, I feel like I'm getting to know Bruce Wayne for the first time. His personal life is something I don't believe I ever read about (in depth) before. I always kinda ignored Bruce Wayne and focused on Batman...I'm a terrible fan.

blurb
AnnCrystal
post image

This nearly lost me at the mention of Arkham Asylum. Always pass on prison, asylum, and hospital stories. Yet, this is Gotham.

I continued.

It's interesting and sad to see Bruce Wayne's relationship with Harvey Dent (who will one day become Two-Face).

The last Batman film had gotten my spirits down about my favorite hero (not necessarily about Batman, more about Gotham vs. reality). Nice to be excited again about Batman.

blurb
AnnCrystal
post image

This may not have magic in its storyline, yet it has a magical way of pulling me right into the pages. Very, unexpectedly, immersive.

The foundation of Bruce Wayne's character: the childhood fear of bats, the trauma he experienced, the need to better his birth city.

This is like a bridge, giving a glimpse of Bruce Wayne between the boy and the man. Like I noted, Batman wouldn't be who is without Bruce.

blurb
AnnCrystal
post image

Time for some Bruce Wayne!

I'm not sure about this. Not really into Gotham City right now...with the real world being so very much like Gotham. Just, seemingly, without the promise of a devoted real life Batman.

Haven't read a book in awhile that doesn't have some form of magical elements...

I guess, time will tell.

Young adult Bruce Wayne?

I hadn't read what it was about.

I like Batman for, well, Batman. I can't say I would like Batman without Bruce Wayne. Batman wouldn't be who is without Bruce.

Nonetheless, it sat on my shelf until the other day. It toppled from its place. I snatched it midair, only the dust jacket slipped off.

I'd never given the book a good look over...how elegant. Rarely can I resist that symbol.

This and book three truly are the best in this series.

Tris managed to save my opinion of him.

The human character, Jonmarc remains my favorite. Not the Necromancer, but the human. I'd say Jonmarc is towards the top of my favorite characters list, right after Batman and Zorro.

Yeah, I really need to find some magical men to add to that list.

Oh, an absolutely wonderful ending. So very stressful to reach the wonderful, yet grand nonetheless.

Kiara and Carroway fearing that they will have to prove their loyalty is driving me crazy, because Tris seems to be jumping right into believing it a possibility.

If Tris's reaction to the allegations had been:

“I don't believe it for one moment. I will investigate, for my own peace of mind, for our unborn child, and for my people as their king. But until it is proven, I don't believe it true.“

then it would have made sense to me.

While I continue to wish there were more scenes with Jonmarc, Carina, and the characters at Dark Haven, the story really does need all the characters to tell the story. Chapter 22 was excellent! Like a magical duet between Tris and Carina. Very well done. I still could do with less war scenes.

Clipping of the Winter Kingdoms map.

Tris just managed to annoy me. How could he believe, even for a second, that Kiara would betray him? The only thing that letter should have told him was that Kiara and Carroway were in danger.

Wish for more time spent in and around Dark Haven.

It does a good job of jumping between characters to advance the storyline. While interesting, I find myself rushing through them to return to Dark Haven ;-D.

This does a pretty good job of explaining the Injustice storyline.

I've never really like seeing Batman and Superman together. Could never understand Clark Kent's issues with Bruce Wayne. Yet, I'm really not sure about a world with a crazy Superman.

Batman is still a good guy, so I'm good.

The card says that in the Injustice world, Batman's identity is known?? While I prefer my superheroes with hidden identities, I wonder how this works?

This series has all my favorite magics and magical beings: necromancy (of course), and healers, musicians/storytellers and the power of music, shape-shifters, vampires, seers...etc. I mean, this story really seems to have it all.

Ok, time to dust off book four of this series...

Brilliant.

When I first began this series, reality seemed more sane. Returning to this book now (during this crazy reality the whole world is going through), it seemed more scary. Darker. The threats that should be long, long past seem far too real.
