Pickpick

Having yet another health crisis the past few days, I‘m highly sick of being sick. My GP has an idea it‘s all stemming from an autoimmune problem, so it‘s off to more specialists. Yay. At least I felt well enough to finish Six Of Crows. I very much enjoyed it, it‘s like a fantasy Oceans 11 with magic, prisons & lots of killing. 5⭐️ #MountTBR2019 #Bk20

Tonight‘s reading. I‘m over halfway through another Bardugo book, I have had multiple copies of this for over a year(this one, the Collectors Edition released last year & the duology boxset with the ref&black sprayed edges)but I‘ve never gotten past pg115 till tonight! So glad I finally did & that I have Crooked Kingdom ready to go next & King Of Scars after that.🦅 #NoMournersNoFunerals #TeamDregs

#BookMail Pt8 Bk3 in the Stillhouse Lake series, I loved the first two so we‘ll see if it continues. Gwen Proctors serial killer husband is now dead. But his internet fanatics are still stalking her & her children, but Gwen‘s determined to make a new life for her family. When she gets contacted by another threatened woman, she feels compelled to help but Marlene is murdered before she gets there & her daughter arrested for the crime.

#BookMail Pt7 This is the new graphic novel from the writer of The Tea Dragon Society, which was the cutest & sweetest comic I‘ve ever read. While that one was full of the most adorable tiny dragons this has magical seahorse-unicorns. Could they be any more wonderful! Lana & her father return to their seaside home after a storm to find a colony of aquicorns needing help.🦄

#BookMail Pt6 Yet Another @SavidgeReads recommendation, this is s short story collection all about love, conception, gestation & birth. All are touched with a bit of strange, such as Atria in which a pregnant teenager believes she will give birth to animals instead of a baby & Tributaries where people grow a new arm every time they fall in love. Funny, sad & all beautiful.

What a perfect end to one of the best fantasy trilogies I‘ve read in awhile. The fates of The Darkling, The Sun Summoner & her Tracker were so bittersweet, I don‘t think I could‘ve written a better finale. Poor Nikolai. I‘m trying really hard to avoid spoilers, but I love that she gave The Darkling a bit of humanity at the end, it was one of my favourite scenes. Highly recommend. 5⭐️ #MountTBR2019 #Bk19 #Pop19 #BookThatIncludesAWedding

#BookMail Pt3 I‘m s huge sucker for ghost stories, especially English Victorian ones. One of the first books I was given as a child was an anthology of English Tales of the Supernatural so it‘s been pretty much a lifelong obsession. This is the story that the movie is based on plus some other short stories from the same author. All I need now is a thunderstorm, an open fire & some hot chocolate⛈🌬🔥☕️

#BookMail Pt2 This one was another recommendation from @SavidgeReads booktube channel. It‘s a fact based fiction about a period in author Patricia Highsmiths life where she retreated to a cottage in Suffolk under the guise of concentrating on her writing but she also has another motive-a married lover. Enter Ginny, a journalist there for an interview and things take a dark turn.

I‘m loving this series! Set directly after Shadow and Bone, Alina & Mal are on the run from the Darkling & his rebel Grisha. Taking ship to the west, they‘re discovered & brought back to Ravka, but things don‘t go according to the Darklings plan. GatheringBooks yeyyyy!! my favourite character only appears in book 2. you will immediately recognize him the second he appears. 2w

Lizpixie @GatheringBooks exactly! Why did every powerful woman have to be either a hard bitch(Olenna & Sansa)or crazy & psychotic(Cersei & Dany)In the books Cersei is ruthless yes, but she‘s shown a bit more sympathetically, same with Daenerys. 2w

#BookMail Pt1 Kicking off this weeks.mail with a physical copy of a book I‘ve already read through audiobook. The audio version is very good, the narrator is excellent, but the story is so convoluted that I found myself getting lost at times with all the people & facts involved. A brilliant non fiction about a Silicon Valley bio startup whose founder pulled the wool over investors eyes & has been charged with fraud. Great book!

WhatWouldJaneDo I'm listening to this on audio right now and I agree - there are soooo many people I've given up on exactly keeping track (especially since so the company was such a revolving door anyway). I watched the documentary The Inventor about this which is helping some, especially now that I'm getting into the later years of the story. I'm a little obsessed with this trainwreck right now! 2w

#ShelfLove This is the top two tiers of my double stuffed #MountTBRShelvesOfDoom There‘s a lot of bookish goodness here too, though I sometimes forget what I have behind the first layer & have on one or two occasions bought a book I already had🤦🏻‍♀️I‘ve also had books go missing because it‘s so disorganised: case in point, I just found an hour ago my signed Ist Trade Edition Aus Cover Of Nevernight by Jay Kristoff which I‘ve been searching for!

Lizpixie Lucky coz that particular edition you can‘t find anywhere anymore, plus it‘s signed! So now, once Darkdawn is released, I‘ll have a full signed trilogy in those editions, a full signed trilogy of US hardcovers & a full signed set of UK hardcovers. I‘m a little bit Mia obsessed🗡🎭 3w

#ShelfLove The right hand stack of my #MountTBRStacksOfDoom though there‘s about half that‘s cut off. I really need to get started on organisation of my overflow of books. The OCD in me is slowly losing her mind! See anything you‘re looking forward to reading?

Avanders I‘m really excited about 3w

#ShelfLove This is the left hand stack in my #MountTBRStacksOfDoom Yhis one has a few 1st or 2nd books in a series like Red Rising, Nevermoor, Muse Of Nightmares & A Bad Deal For The Whole Galaxy. The two at the bottom that‘s difficult to see are A Is For Arsenic-Kathryn Harkup & That Inevitable Victorian Thing-EK Johnston. Which ones have you 1. Read 2. Currently reading or 3. Plan on reading?🤓

WhatWouldJaneDo I loved Night Film! 3w
Lizpixie @WhatWouldJaneDo I loved her Neverworld Wake so I thought I‘d try her back catalogue 3w
WhatWouldJaneDo @Lizpixie I've read all of her books; Night Film was the first one I read and still my favorite. Hope you enjoy it if it gets chosen from the stack! 3w

#ShelfLove The top of the front of my #MountTBRStacksOfDoom There‘s a mix of new books & some that I‘ve had on my TBR for a long time,as well as special editions & signed books. I can‘t wait to get my new bookcase, it‘s driving me nuts seeing this mess every night. I also have plans to buy a book cart from Ikea to make organisation & moving books around a lot easier. Do you see anything you‘ve either 1. Just read 2. Are reading or 3. Want to read?

toofondofbooks Devil in the White City is really good 3w

Some more #shelflove from my library, this time it‘s part of the front of my #MountTBRStacksOfDoom Since my health crashed awhile ago, it‘s been hard to keep my library organised. Our last child moved out almost 2 months ago so I‘m currently working on the hubby to let me put a corner bookcase in her old room for my TBR Overflow. The rate I read usually, I should have about 3yrs worth of books to get through, my problem is letting them go after!

Lynnsoprano I need to show this to my hubby, that my book hoarding isn‘t anything unusual 😂 3w

Been in a small slump the past few days so no reading posts & it‘s been awhile since I‘ve shown some #shelflove so I thought I‘d share a small part of my double-stuffed #MountTBRShelvesOfDoom There‘s a lot of goodness on these shelves & it‘s just a small part of my #bookhoarding Which book on here are you most looking forward to reading?

MicheleinPhilly AGH! I hate that we can‘t zoom in! My eyes aren‘t what they used to be. I should probably get glasses. 3w
Lizpixie @Cathythoughts I actually picked up that 1st edition at a junkyard. They had an old demountable that is filled with 2ndhand books, it was fabulous! @MicheleinPhilly magnifying glasses are a must with Litsy. I can‘t wait till they add a zoom🕵🏻‍♀️🔭 3w
