I‘m not sure who is doing this buddy read but tag people if you know. The Boston liberty tree was today‘s entry. I‘m just showing some pictures of the area (Liberty Tree District) today. It‘s part of the theater district. They have a monument for the tree. And some art on a building. ❤️Boston

I read about the Basque arborglyphs in #atreeaday and then, about the Pando aspen in Maggie, etc… (finished last night). Simply put: trees are amazing. #weirdwords #weirdwordwednesday

TheBookHippie How cool. 1mo
Deblovestoread Love this! Aspens are my favorite, their leaves make the best music in the wind. 1mo

Amiable This photo is gorgeous, too! 😍 1mo
SamAnne In the desert of SE Oregon, on Steens Mountain, one can find many carvings in the old aspen by Basque and other sheepherders from the early 1900s, maybe earlier. They are still there. Very cool, except for the disturbing carvings of female figures with antlers. Likely a little later by white dudes. 1mo
BookmarkTavern Oh wow! That‘s so cool! 1mo
lil1inblue @SamAnne How cool! That sounds absolutely breathtaking! 1mo
lil1inblue I love this! 😍 1mo
dabbe We just walked by some aspens on our walk with the pups. We're up north this week and are loving the weather and trees. L😍VE these new words. 🩵💙🩵 1mo
CBee @Deblovestoread we don‘t have them here - wrong kind of climate 😅 1mo
CBee @SamAnne hi!! So good to see you back on Litsy ♥️ Oof. So does it seem like someone came later and added the offensive carvings? That‘s awful. 1mo
CBee @dabbe sounds lovely! 1mo
dabbe @SamAnne 😱😳😤 1mo
SamAnne @CBee aw thank you. I‘ve missed the friendly lovely crew here. 1mo
CBee @SamAnne we‘ve missed you! Hope you‘ve been okay ♥️ 1mo
CatLass007 Some of the words you share with us, although absolutely marvelous, I wonder if I‘ll ever have the opportunity to use. Nevertheless keep sharing, and I will keep remembering and looking for those opportunities. 1mo
CBee @CatLass007 weird and not often used words is the goal ♥️ I‘ll keep sharing! 1mo
Sace Fascinating! 1mo
Daisey I‘ve come across some of these words in my reading, not only A Tree A Day, and always find the carvings a fascinating idea. Great words! 1mo

I completely missed posting my joys on Friday because it‘s been an incredibly busy week, and all the days have kind of blurred together. This morning, though, I had the chance to enjoy some quiet time out on the front porch with the dogs, an iced coffee, and a book before church. It was lovely.

Good morning! I did a little bit of catching up last night to finish the June pages of this book. We‘re halfway through and I continue to really enjoy these stories of various trees. Today we start July with this quote which I‘ve heard variations of throughout my life. It‘s a wonderful way to consider your impact on the future.

Wow, April already! 🌸🌞🌸

Are you still enjoying our daily arboreal treat? 🌳
Did you have a favourite passage from the March entries? I adored An Orchard in Spring by Isidore Verheyden (1897). Inosculation is quite cool, too.https://crowspath.org/love-trees/

kspenmoll I am enjoying this so much! Starts my day with music from Year of Wonder, an excerpt from The Book lover‘s Almanac, breakfast, & of. Course, coffee! Favorite tree posts: The Green Man & the coffee tree, of course!!!3/10, 3/21 5mo
Cuilin March 2, Ogham, my name cuilin/cuilinn/cuilean come from this old Celtic tree alphabet. March 31 Box Hill, I remembered it from Jane Austen‘s Emma and the fiasco of the picnic and of course March 10 coffee!! 5mo
Deblovestoread Such a peaceful few minutes I have daily with this book. March was filled with fascinating entries but I loved the two page entry with The Lone Tree of Wanaka for March 27. Beautiful, peaceful pic. Also the 29th Peasant‘s House at Éragny by Pissarro. ? 5mo
dabbe Such a nice respite every day with this book. I even have Matt reading it with me! 🤣 5mo
julieclair @Deblovestoread @dabbe Me three! Loved those two entries. 5mo

Thanks to the #atreeaday daily readings, which I‘m quite behind on, I discovered another new word! This is very science-y, friends. But very cool! Here‘s a link if interested: https://www.thoughtco.com/cladogram-definition-and-examples-4778452

Cuilin I love starting my day with this book. I love the Major Oak tree in Sherwood Forest and I also love the road of trees in Northern Ireland. 7mo
TheBookHippie Yes! I loved that Theresienstadt was in the book and everyday I‘m in awe. Such a perfect book for the year! 7mo

AllDebooks @Cuilin I loved the Major Oak too, visited it many times. It is a lovely book. 😍 7mo
AllDebooks @TheBookHippie glad you like it. I like the variety of posts, so interesting. 7mo
AllDebooks @CBee no rush, just enjoy. X 7mo
Read4life I‘m just enjoying this book. I start my day with it out on the hammock with my coffee. It‘s just a perfect start to each new day. 7mo
AnnCrystal 🌱💝💝💝. 7mo
Faranae 😂 I think I'm the only one who doesn't like the book. I thought I would, but it doesn't go deep enough at all, and some of the trees I already knew about, I got annoyed because of how she talked about them (for example, focusing on the death of Kiidk'yaas instead of its part in Haida life, the saplings created from cuttings, the use of the wood in Six String Nation, etc).

It did give me something to track daily for Storygraph though!
7mo
dabbe I'm loving it and even got Matt reading it with me. 🤩 The only parts that sadden me, though, are the trees that no longer exist. 🥺 7mo
TEArificbooks I‘m loving it. I thought it was going to highlight a tree species a day but I like the specific trees. I thought the 11 bonsai trees was a cute story. 7mo
Daisey I‘m thoroughly enjoying this book as well! I don‘t tend to read it every day but about every 3 days I read a few days. I‘m not sure it‘s quite what I was expecting, but it‘s fascinating. 7mo
Seabreeze_Reader I'm enjoying the daily essays, although I sometimes miss a few days and then read multiple entries to catch up. I think the reading is just the right length and if I'm curious about finding out more info, I can do more research on my on. The stories of destruction do make me sad. How could someone manage to run over a lone tree in the middle of the Sahara dessert? It just boggles my mind. So far, I still like the Emancipation Oak entry the best. 7mo
kspenmoll My favorite entry for January is 01/04-The willow tree-always loved the weeping willows. 7mo
kspenmoll @TheBookHippie Loved this info too- there is so much in this book-I adore it & its a lovely way to start my day. 7mo
AllDebooks I enjoy the variety of posts, not just actual trees but stories, art, sculpture, literary references, and history. 7mo
