This book of five short stories set in the Sookie Stackhouse universe was actually enjoyable. With this author less is definitely more.

You could have knocked me over with a feather when it was revealed who the killer was. This is the fourth and final book in the Harper Connelly series. I enjoyed this series more than her Sookie Stackhouse series. There just were too many Sookie books and they were mediocre at best. I know that‘s an #unpopularopinion but it‘s mine and I‘m stickin‘ with it. (cont)⬇️
I‘ve been calling this series a “cozy” urban fantasy, and I stand by that description for the first two books. There is nothing cozy about this book. The violence is more graphic and there is a sexual relationship between two consenting adults. That said, I definitely think this a good continuation of the series and I would recommend it to anyone who is not too squeamish.
https://www.upworthy.com/amp/wil-wheaton-shares-how-to-separate-art-from-problem... This is a link to an Upworthy article discussing Wil Wheaton‘s response to a question on Tumblr about separating the artist and their art. I can think of at least four creative people to whom this applies: JK Rowling, Joss Whedon, Kevin Spacey, and Bill Cosby. Food for thought…
I bought this audiobook when it was first released in 2020. I was experiencing a lot of loss and upheaval at the time so I didn‘t actually start listening to it until Act II was released in 2021. I didn‘t get very far. I felt that the music and sound effects were too distracting. I was disappointed because I‘m a huge Neil Gaiman fan. But I wasn‘t completely surprised because it was based on a comic book series. (cont)
I read this book when it first came out. A friend of mine who is Black sent me his copy. He said that he thought the author was racist against Black people and wanted my opinion. I‘m not exactly the best person to ask about that since I‘m white, but he trusted my judgment. I remember thinking that Verghese seemed to dislike his own brown skin. At the time he wrote this book he was living in the same town in which I now live. (cont)⬇️
This is the second book in the Harper Connelly series. I enjoyed this one as much as the first. It was what I‘m starting to think of as a “cozy” urban fantasy. Not too dark or heavy, it suits my need for something entertaining.
I think today is a day for another #unpopularopinion I read The Handmaid‘s Tale when it was first published. Actually, I only tried to read it. If I had known what #DNF meant back then that‘s what I did. It seems like everyone thinks this is one of the greatest books ever written. I understand that it was groundbreaking. It seems more prescient now than ever. But I just didn‘t like the book. I‘ve never read another #MargaretAtwood book. (cont)⬇️
I‘ve had this in my Audible library for a few years. I finished it yesterday and I‘m sorry it took me so long. I enjoyed it, and I‘ve already started the second book in the series. I was a little hesitant about it after so long because in an #unpopularopinion I thought the Sookie Stackhouse series was mediocre. I‘ve only seen the first episode of #TrueBlood, or maybe only part of it. It‘s been a while. I actually listened to the entire (cont)⬇️
Okay, Litsy, now I remember how addictive you are! And you keep showing me books that I keep adding to my wishlist. I listen to Audible almost exclusively. The fact that my Audible wishlist has over 5,000 books on it is a perfect example of #BlameItOnLitsy
It‘s an excellent book but it‘s horrific the way Black people were and still are treated in this country. I also find it disturbing that there are still only guidelines but not laws governing the use of people‘s genetic material.
Tried listening to this book last year but for whatever reason I couldn‘t get into it. So I marked it as DNF and moved on to my next book. At the beginning of April, I gave it another shot. I found myself intrigued as I listened to the beginning for the second time, and listening to it was not the chore that it was the first time. Neil Gaiman has moved back to the top of my list of favorite authors. I‘m glad I tried this book again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I just finished the first book in the Wrexford and Sloane Historical Mystery series and I promptly began the second book.
I confess to having read this book about five years ago and as I listened to the audiobook, I realized I didn‘t remember any of it. This time around, I promise to remember it. It was quite enjoyable. I‘ve been listening to a number of historical novels that are mysteries. This Regency Era mystery is first in a series and I intend to read more of them.
I read this book five years ago as part of #whodunitthesequel. I‘m listening almost exclusively to audiobooks now and the first and second books of the series currently are free with membership on Audible. When I decided to listen to listen to this book, I couldn‘t remember a thing I‘d read, which is pretty unusual for me. I found my Litsy post from five years ago and I liked the book. I just couldn‘t remember it. …continued…
OK, this is not really a quote, it‘s a paraphrase. And I need help figuring out what the exact quote is and who said it. I don‘t even know if it‘s a real quote or if it‘s something I imagined. “Man plans, God laughs.” I know that you, all my Litsy friends, must know the origin of this. I believe there‘s another similar quote, “Man proposes, God disposes.” I may have imagined both of these quotes. Or, I‘m really off-base in my paraphrase.
I recently saw on Facebook a list of banned books. I do not know the source of this list, but I‘m posting. Is anyone organizing a banned book group or club or whatever? It doesn‘t have to be from this list. I live in East Tennessee, probably the most backward place in the country. In Middle Tennessee there‘s big hullabaloo about banning, even burning, books. The school board pulled MAUS by Art Spiegelman from the middle school curriculum.
I have not been active in Litsy for some time. I‘m going to try to remedy that. I signed up for two buddy reads four-ish years ago. I bought a lot of hardcover and softcover books by Stephen King for the #losersclub. I also signed up for the Terry Pratchett read along. I‘m not sure why, but I quickly lost interest in the Pratchett books. Around the same time, we had a couple of deaths in the family, both of my parents passed. Continued…
@Mollyanna I have to quarantine for two weeks so I haven‘t made it to the post office yet and won‘t until week after next. I do have your book it‘s right where I can see it and I will get it to you. My apologies.
Thank you, @ErinSueMreads for the postcard. It cheered up my day on Sunday when I got home and checked my mail from the previous few days. Don‘t apologize for being terrible about writing; I‘m sure I have been worse this year. 😽😽😽#jb
This is a reread of a charming book. It is based on a true story but many of the characters are fictionalized. Some of these characters have become famous, the Lady Chablis, being the most familiar to many. I give this five out of five stars. Definitely a pick.
Apparently, I read this a few years ago because audible says I finished it. I remember nothing about it except for midway through there was a murder that seems vaguely familiar. I needed a break from everything, though, and I thought I‘d reread it because I love the title. It was just the right break from the lousy things that have happened in the last week. Things have improved this week, fortunately. And I finished the book. Again.
The second of Robert Galbraith‘s Cormoran Strike series is a bit slow in the middle but overall I give it a pick because of the surprise ending.
I just received a housewarming present from the lovely @Mynameisacolour ! Thank you, Miss Heather! #JB #JustBecause
This is a non-book-related posts but it‘s sort of book-related. I am now a homeowner!! This means I can unpack my library, among other things!
Much dark humor in this audiobook narrated by the author.
I do so solemnly swear that I will not start any more books before I finish the 19 books I already have started. The books I currently am reading are listed in this app under my name.
@Schlinkles I received the book and notebook today as evidenced by the photograph. Thank you so much. #WhoDunitTheSequel

I want to thank my Litten family for always being there. Happy Thanksgiving!!🦃🍁🍽
I want to thank all you wonderful Littens for being so supportive when Mom died October 16, 2018. Today would have been her 90th birthday. Happy birthday in heaven, mom.
@Mollyanna For some reason I didn‘t get this book out early, as I thought I would. But I did mail it out on time today.
I have met the author of this book and I really want to read it! Has anyone out there read it?
This was my first Agatha Christie, but I don‘t intend for it to be my last. I thoroughly enjoyed this entry into #whodunitthesequel ! Excellent choice, and thank you for the wonderful introduction to Dame Agatha. @Mollyanna I hope to get this selection out early to you for a change.
First of all, I don‘t recommend listening to the audiobook, as the narrator is terrible. However, I was able to make my way through the book and, for the most part, enjoyed it. I had expected this to be a bit of a “Dexter Junior,” and it did start out that way. But 1/3 to 1/2 way through the book, it became a horror novel. The difference was jarring. I wish it had been one way or the other. 3 1/2 out of five stars.
#whodunitthesequel
@Schlinkles I received the latest book in #whodunitthesequel today, along with the adorable Curious George card. Thank you so much!!
@Librarybelle
This book was written by a friend of mine. I ordered it from Amazon and it will arrive on Friday. Check it out!
Listening to this series has been so enjoyable! This ninth of ten books was action-packed, serious, funny, and romantic. 5/5 stars.
It started off light and silly, which I quite enjoyed. It got a little more serious toward the middle and the end. I did find it difficult to identify with most of the Crazy Rich Asians, but some of them were delightful. Four out of five stars.
I can‘t keep all the characters straight! And I‘m only a little over an hour into my audiobook. Help me! Ha ha Ha ha ha
This book is four Novelas by four different authors. All are light on plot and heavy on sex. If that‘s all you want, and who doesn‘t sometimes, then this book is for you.
A quite enjoyable book. I know this was a novella but it still wasn‘t long enough. I hope they‘ll expand the relationship between Derek and Kate‘s daughter.
This series started out slow for me but it has constantly improved and I give this five of five stars.
