This was not for me. It‘s well written but I just didn‘t care enough about the MC, Johanna, and I never really got invested in her story. I did enjoy the 90s setting and music references, though! I would‘ve bailed but I was using this for #pop22 for a book with a misleading title, as this is indeed not a how-to manual about building a human female from scratch. 😂

Completely forgot to post #two4tuesday yesterday! 😱

1. The first one that comes to mind is Mrs. Bennet from Pride and Prejudice. She‘s so ridiculous! Although to be fair, most mothers in that time were probably very similar. Her general loudness just leaps off the page!
2. I love strong supporting characters! I‘ve been pleasantly surprised many times reading books and coming across great side characters!

Run, Rose, Run: A Novel | James Patterson, Dolly Parton
post image
Pickpick

This is light-handed on the thriller aspect. It‘s definitely more focused on the story of the up-and-coming country music star and the inner workings of the country music business. But I enjoyed it! I don‘t think I‘ve ever read James Patterson and I‘d check out some of his other books. I don‘t like country music but I ❤️ Dolly Parton so much that I listened to the accompanying album! And she‘s the reason I bought the book!

#bookspinbingo

ChaoticMissAdventures I think the thing to keep in mind if you go on to read more Patterson is that he doesn't actually write the books. He hasn't for decades. Instead he has a team of ghost writers and they write it and he slaps his name in it, because his name is a brand. 5d
OriginalCyn620 @ChaoticMissAdventures I did not know that! 🤔 5d

#two4tuesday

1. Voracious reader! 📚
2. A bibliophile collects books, not just keep books they love. They‘d collect first editions, for example. A bibliophile would also be very knowledgeable about books - different genres, authors, trivia, etc. A bibliophile may also even plan entire trips around books - visiting a classic author‘s home or the setting of a favorite book.

This took me a while to get through, not because it isn‘t good (it‘s excellent) but because I saw the series soon after it came out. Thank you, Chris Evans! 😛 Knowing what it was all about, I didn‘t feel the need to rush through it. There were some differences, but the adaptation was pretty close to the book. The big twist is truly awesome and one I don‘t think anyone could see coming!

Effie has fallen out with her father and his glamorous younger girlfriend. When her dad sells her childhood home, the girlfriend decides to throw a house cooling party (which I didn‘t know was a thing) but doesn‘t invite Effie. Effie is fine with that, but decides to crash in order to retrieve a treasured item left there by accident. But the night doesn‘t go down as planned! Many LOL moments!

LiteraryinLawrence Whoa, what is a house cooling party? That‘s new to me too. 2w
OriginalCyn620 @LiteraryinLawrence Well, it‘s the opposite of a housewarming party. You celebrate moving out of a house. It‘s a chance to say goodbye to your old place before moving on somewhere new. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I kinda get it but I also don‘t. 2w

I adored this book! Lucky, the biggest K-Pop star on the planet, sneaks out of her hotel room and happens to meet Jack, a tabloid photographer, though that fact is unbeknownst to Lucky. She decides to take a day off from her demanding schedule, and incognito, she and Jack wander through Hong Kong. You can guess what happens. This is a K-Pop version of Roman Holiday, and I was totally here for it!

I can‘t believe I‘m saying this about a dog story, but this just wasn‘t for me. It dragged on and took way too long to get to the romance.
