Help: A One-act Play | David G. Grote

I know we had a recent update on Litsy. I‘m wondering if anyone is having the problems that I am. I can no longer get Litsy on my iPad...It comes up completely blank. I tried removing, and then adding, the Litsy app, and now it won‘t even let me in. It keeps saying my password is incorrect. When I try to change it to get in, it just goes to a webpage. I‘m using my phone right now, but I can‘t see very well with it, so it‘s very difficult.

gradcat I don‘t even know who to contact about this. If anyone can help me, please let me know! This is very sad for me, esp. at this time, as I‘m really having Meniere‘s problems at the moment, thus it‘s so hard to read small print. Thanks everybody❤️ 5y

But I‘ve had to uninstall & reinstall twice now, because if I get off...when I come back on, it will not move off the Litsy intro page. In other words, every time I get off, I end up having to uninstall & reinstall again...in a word, ugh—pain in the you know what. Maybe I just have to leave the app open forever! 😱 5y

Yeah_I_Read If you like YA at all The Daughter of Smoke and Bone Saga (1-3) were awesome on audio. Also Shadowshapers. It was narrated by Anika Noni Rose the girl who did the voice for Tiana in Princess and the Frog. I find that I enjoy listening to YA books bc they aren't usually too heavy and I can use the other half of my concentration for something else 7y

Hellhound on His Trail by Hampton Sides was really good, I listened to that a few years ago. I've liked every Agatha Christie I've heard, all the narrators are great. And The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley was great too. Will keep thinking!

BooksAtNight I second @Redwritinghood in recommending Neil Gaiman - that man's voice is liquid gold. I listened to the Cormoran Strike series on audio; if you are okay with swear words, the narrator is exactly how I'd imagine Cormoran. American Fire was also excellent on audio. And anything with a full cast is great; I just got through The Golden Compass. 7y

BkClubCare Stephen King novels always seem to be exceptional well done. I have some fave narrators, Simon Vance and Juliet Stevenson come top of mind. My fave audio EVER is King's IT. I always rec Beautiful Ruins and Heft for a good listen experience. I sample a LOT because narrators are important. Oh! Have you tried H is for Hawk? V. Good 7y

DocBrown Agree with all the kudos for David Sedaris. And Ready Player One is the only book that kept me going for 16 miles. Toni Morrison narrates all her own, as does my all-time personal favorite, Nora Ephron. I'm a sucker for authors who do their own narration. Long books that are worth the time include The Goldfinch, The Blazing World, Middlesex, and A Little Life. NOT worth the investment, IMHO, is

DGRachel Yes, Born A Crime was incredible. If you can do fiction, The Girl with all the Gifts was amazing on audio and right now I'm listening to a full cast production of Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book, which may just be my favorite audiobook of all time. It's fantastic! 7y

Merethebookgal For memoirs, I've listened to Bossypants, Yes Please, Furiously Happy, The Clancys of Queens, Year of Yes, and As You Wish. Some were better than others, but they were all good on audio. 7y

BooksAtNight I found it easier to get into audiobook fiction by listening to children's fiction. Full cast productions are also amazing if you can find them. The two I listened to most recently are The Princess Academy and The Golden Compass. Also basically anything Neil Gaiman narrates. 7y

Merethebookgal I also have been sticking mostly to non-fiction audiobooks, but some fiction that has worked for me via audio are Agatha Christie's mysteries. 7y

Suzze I get overwhelmed sometimes when picking a book (I have 800+ unread). I use Goodreads on my computer to help. I have them all on a shelf called "own". Goodreads numbers them on their web site. Then I have a random number generator pick one for me. Always a fun surprise. 7y

Alright Litsy I need your help.

I've been muddling in and out of depression lately and need a damn good book. I've been reading a lot of duds. It's not that I haven't enjoyed the books I've read at all, but reading has been feeling like a chore. I need something riveting. I want something that will suck me in for a while, and I haven't been having much luck. Doesn't need to be lighthearted, happy, or fluffy. I would love your suggestions!

Adventures-of-a-French-Reader My favorite book of all time has been recently translated again into English. It's The Mysteries of Paris by Eugene Sue. The main character, Rodolphe, will bring you in the bad neighborhoods of Paris in the 19th century. It's more than 1000 pages long, but gosh it's worth the journey ;) (PS: I read it in French) 7y

kgriffith Awesome! Feel free to hit me up re Lackey, I've read most of her Valdemar books. The Vanyel trilogy is my favorite by far, but I can't read it when I'm in a bleak place. Arrows of the Queen was my entry point, and the book that started my love of Fantasy novels. 💜 7y

Chachic My favorite series is the Queen's Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner so I always recommend it whenever I get the chance. You seem to enjoy fantasy so it might work. The first book is more MG but the rest are YA, and they have political intrigue and strong female characters.💖 7y

GlitteryOtters Oh no!! Best of luck!! Take lots of the yummiest liquids and snacks (thing I learned from my cross country road trip this spring: we packed too much water & not enough delicious beverages) and lots of tissues. Try to rest as much as you can (hard to do, I know!). I hope the cold leaves quickly & you will be able to enjoy the trip, not just survive it. Hang in there and I hope you feel better soon! 8y

I did an Amazon promotion thingy a while ago where I got three months of free Audible - and it's expiring tomorrow (and I'm too supremely cheap to pay for it when my library has Axis 360 and Overdrive). I have three credits burning a hole in my virtual pocket! The titles above are things I'm interested in that my library doesn't have - anyone know if these are good on audio? I'm also open to great audio suggestions! TIA. 😘

BookishFeminist Robin Miles is the narrator for The Good House and she's a great narrator - I've heard great things about the book too & love Tananarive Due. It's on my audible wish list. You really won't regret How to Make White People Laugh, especially if your library doesn't have it. A trove of us on here think it's the funniest thing we've ever listened to & it's super educational too. 8y
