Just finished listening to the audiobook of one of my favourite epistolary novels, I found myself laughing and crying as I listened, even though I think this is my third or fourth time through. My first audio version, the narrators were excellent, highly recommended 👍👍
This book started slow so made a good lunch time read. An epistolary novel , it was easy to read in 15-20 minute chunks. But things picked up and I ended up bringing it home to read. I just had to know what happened. Easy to read and gentle story bringing to life village life during the beginning of WWII ( around the time of Dunkirk ) I would love a post war sequel. 👍👍
Finished listening to my Cloudlibrary audiobook, I really enjoyed the narrator, she does very believable voices for the individual characters. The story is very familiar , a woman with a tragic past meets kind small town fellow- love happens - then nasty , violent events threaten the lovers . Saw the ending coming for miles. When you read Nora Roberts you know what to expect and she delivers.
#wondrousWednesday 1. The tagged book 2. A Discovery of Witches ( the whole trilogy) 3. It‘s too massive to count 4. Just posted a review of Hitching A Ride With Buddha ( so-so) . Tagging @rabbitprincess @Loric @LauraBeth if it‘s not too late in the day. Thanks @Eggs for the tag
Finished my lunch book. This one is written well before mobile phones and it seems like an almost historical work. The author decides to follow the cherry blossom blooms by hitchhiking the length of Japan. Some funny stories but he sometimes comes across as an “ugly” Canadian. It‘s okay but I would not recommend it.
This is one of Mary Balogh‘s older books , first copyright around thirty years ago , December 1989. I quite enjoyed it, but not my favourite. Alexandra has been brought up in a very strict and repressive home. One evening she is “accidentally kidnapped “ and must marry to save herself from “ruin” , pretty standard. What makes it a pick is the Raine family, two brothers and a sister at the heart ♥️ of this trilogy
Crazy Rich Asians meets Game of Thrones in a holiday rom-com that I‘m definitely watching this November. Emma Thompson is the writer and it‘s called Last Christmas.
I listened to the audiobook I borrowed from Cloudlibrary , unfortunately I had no access to the PDF file with recipes etc. So I felt like I was missing half the book. No photos either. I enjoyed Reese Witherspoon ‘s narration but I hope to find the actual book at my next book sale
Gotta love a long lazy Sunday, finished the last twenty minutes of this audiobook from Cloudlibrary. Elizabeth Gilbert has a great reading voice, I own the actual book but I just couldn‘t get into it. The audiobook is more accessible but I‘m not sure 🤔 I believe her theories about creativity. Maybe I‘m not the audience this book was written for. I wish there was a choice between Pick and So-so. Her voice was soothing and helped me fall asleep.
Started this one yesterday, finished this morning, a well written thriller about a mother and her 4 year old son trapped in a zoo with an active shooter. The bond between mother and son is so well developed, I‘m still tearing up. Trigger warning ⚠️ this is a pulled out of the current headlines story.
Stopped for some fish and chips. Still working my way through the Bridgerton series before the Netflix adaptation airs. Always a HEA 💜
Thanks @Eggs for #wonderouswednesday , my answers are 1. Fifty Shades of Grey , the first movie has a wicked soundtrack 2. Too many apps 3. Plants versus Zombies 🧟♂️ (my only game) 4. Litsy of course tagging ( if you‘re interested) @rather_be_reading @MellieAntoinette @sblbooks and anyone who‘s interested 😀🐉
Just finished another Bridgerton novel, Benedict may be my favourite Bridgerton brother. Two thumbs up for this Cinderella inspired historical #romantsy ! Awesome “meet cute “ , intrepid heroine and charming hero and enough sizzle to satisfy 🔥💕
In the middle of my next Bridgerton , this one is a fun take on Cinderella, complete with wicked step mother and meanish stepsisters and of course a very handsome “Prince “ Charming. #dinnerandabook
Trying to read the Bridgerton Series before the Netflix series airs. Finished the tagged book this morning thanks to my Cloudlibrary app. I don‘t like Francesca as much as the other Bridgertons , but I really liked Michael! This one has some very spicy 🌶🔥 scenes. I‘m torn between a pick and a so-so , but the second epilogue makes it a pick ( on to the next two )
Minerva is an amateur geologist intent on presenting her fossil findings at a symposium in Scotland, in order to travel there she pretends to elope with a local bad boy/ Viscount. Things go anything but smoothly! Tessa Dare is fabulously funny ! And there‘s plenty of heat 🔥🔥🔥 historical #romantsy 💕
Listened to this audiobook on my Cloudlibrary app. A very pleasant visit with the Wilde family. A fun historical #romantsy with a serious look at PTSD . 🔥🔥👍👍
Thanks to my library app I just finished this ebook. I can happily confirm this #romantsy definitely lived up to the hype. Loved the First Son falls for The British Prince story ! Plenty of fun and heat . 👍👍 thanks Littens for recommending this book 💕🤗
I‘m forever reading series in the wrong order 😂. Oops 🙊 I think this one may be the last rather than the first , reading another historical #romantsy . Salad rolls and a book 📚
The book I read has the same title as the tagged book but is written by Lynsay Sands. I enjoyed this light hearted historical #romantsy. Some fun hi jinks and plenty of heat 🔥. Read this for the romance not the historical accuracy
Couldn‘t resist buying a new historical #romantsy at my favourite indie bookstore. This one isn‘t in the database: Lady Maggie Wentworth is kidnapped by her late brother‘s friend who mistakenly believes he‘s saving her from life in a high class bordello. She was there as an investigative journalist, interviewing the ladies. Hi-jinks ensue . This author is new to me - cross fingers- that it‘s funny and hot 🐉
Finished this audiobook- a pleasant historical #romantsy thanks to the Cloudlibrary app and listening to my new library book while enjoying a burrito bowl
Just downloaded the ebook FREE on my Kindle and iPhone. I listened to the audiobook but can‘t resist a free copy. It‘s only on today according to my friend ‘s text
Oprah is an amazing human being. But I find myself wishing for a rating between a pick and a so-so. I listened to the audiobook and loved the format , Oprah read the main text and her guests read their quotes. But it really reminded me of the audiobook of The Secret, in fact a couple of voices were the same in both books. Overall a good message but nothing new. I respect and admire Oprah so I‘m going with pick.
Just finished listening to the audiobook on my Cloudlibrary app, such a great full cast reading. Well done and entertaining! This novel must have been inspired by Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks . A fun look back at those crazy seventies. 👍👍
I‘m buying a lottery ticket so I can buy a stone farm house in Provence. Penelope Kite has taken early retirement after a messy divorce , starting up her new life as a British Expat in France. Of course this is a murder mystery - dead bodies start turning up and Penny is entangled in the mystery. I enjoyed the characters in the little French village. The food! The scenery! 👍👍
Emmy wants to be a war correspondent and ends up as a junior typist at a failing women‘s magazine. The book is set in London during The Blitz. War time Britain 🇬🇧 is brought to life - the stiff upper lip - the carry on spirit. A quick read full of likeable characters, reminds me of a certain “ Potato Pie” novel. 👍👍
This is book three of The Shetland series, I missed book two, I quite often read series out of order. A solid mystery with lots of red herrings, I guessed wrong. Shetland is as much a character as the humans who live there, a look into island life a cross the pond.
The Cloudlibrary app is an excellent source for audiobooks, thanks Littens for introducing me to it. Finally finished listening to the final novel in this YA sci-fi trilogy. I really like the different voices and the sound effects. Let‘s just say space battles come to life and make you feel part of the action. Two thumbs up 👍
Back at work so have not had time to visit or post . Read all these fun historical #romantsy novels during my holidays. They are sweet and a touch naughty 🔥, definitely enjoyable vacation reads
My last week of holidays has definitely been full of fun #romantsy fiction thanks to #blameitonLitsy and the book sale ; Julia Quinn is a new favourite- her stories are funny , sweet and 🔥. Both these are great holiday reads especially if you want HEA 💕
Thanks @Joriebooks thanks for the link to this fun quiz. Of course I‘m Arthur Dent 😂. Now, where‘s my towel ! 🐟💫🚀🛰
