I‘m going back to the book sale tomorrow- today I went to softcover fiction and romance. There‘s lots more to look at. Planning my attack with this handy map. What you can‘t see in the photo is upstairs are children and teen books while downstairs is self help
Part of my book sale haul. There‘s another bag in the car and of course this is just day 1 - one of the volunteers said this is the biggest book sale in North America. ( I‘m going again tomorrow 💃🕺)
New ebook from the Libby at. But no time for reading today. I‘m working on my book list for the Times Colonist Raise A Reader book sale. It‘s the first one since 2019. I‘m beyond excited! What should I look for? Here‘s a photo of all the books waiting to come home with me! 💚🐉🙌
#wondrouswednesday @Eggs thanks @Ddzmini 1. Watching movies 🍿 especially at the theatre 🎭. 2. I write reviews only on Litsy - it‘s a very safe place 3. I read anywhere but I especially like reading in bed. Tagging any Littens wanting to play 💚🐉
My hold for the audiobook came in and I have been happily listening to the Thursday Murder Club‘s antics. Elizabeth‘s ex-husband turns up and of course murder and mayhem follow. A very enjoyable second book of what I hope will be a long series. My favourite secondary character may have a crush - can‘t wait for developments in book 3 👍👍
I thoroughly enjoyed this mystery. I laughed and I cried- Molly the maid is so sincere and so naive. Most of the action takes place in a luxury hotel in an unnamed city. Maybe Toronto or New York. I lean towards Toronto. There‘s a murder and of course Molly finds the body - plot twists begin. A quick read that‘s almost a cozy with a narrator who sees things differently. 👍👍
Yay the audiobook I‘ve been waiting for came in tonight! Happy dance 💃- I know what I‘m listening to this weekend!
Vanessa is cursed - she predicts the future and blurts it out at inappropriate times to unsuspecting strangers and family members . Her Aunt is opening a tea shop in Paris and suggests Vanessa comes with her to take fortune 🔮 telling lessons. There‘s romance in the future. A so-so book - I can‘t recommend it.
Just finished my reread of this fun m/m romance. Suspend your disbelief and imagine an English prince and an American president‘s son having feelings. So funny , cute and hot 🔥 - Alex and his prince make for a great escape
So glad I got over my squeamishness and finished this ebook. On the surface it‘s a rip roaring tale of vengeance , two fathers determined to find their son‘s killer. But it‘s also the story of privilege, race , prejudice- there‘s a lot to think about. Trigger warning ⚠️ for extreme violence. This would make a very good Netflix movie 🎥- who would you cast for Ike? Buddy Lee ?
I‘m about 30% in to this ebook and I‘m not sure if I can go on. I‘m so worried about these men and their path of vengeance. I‘m terrified of the ending. I‘m pretty sure there‘s no HEA - this is not my usual genre but it‘s such a compelling read.
Look at this tempting wall of cookbooks at Indigo.
At the end of the tagged ebook there‘s a Christmas novella. It‘s a nice snapshot into the relationship of two favourite secondary characters. I
A very enjoyable entry in this fun series- Samantha (Sam) a werewolf has married her true love ,Clive, the master vampire 🧛♂️ of San Francisco- the story opens with their honeymoon in Paris - then the action moves to the UK 🇬🇧 and the hunt for their nemesis begins
Just finished this totally awesome m/m #romantsy rom-com. Dev is a producer on Ever After ( a tv show very reminiscent of The Bachelor) and Charles is the star for this season . Dev is tasked with turning Charles into Prince Charming so he can choose his future Princess. But Charles is so sweet and gawky and lovely…Dev just might be falling for him. This book is so sweet and so positive - all the feels !
Just finished this door stopper ebook , I admit I was sceptical about this series. I‘ve read and enjoyed the author‘s other series. I confess I thought this was just a murder mystery. I was wrong - it‘s so much more ! There‘s a ton of world 🌎 building - a new group of sassy characters- and some serious couple vibes ( I have a definite soft spot for #romantsy ) I immediately put a hold on book 2. 👍👍
Happy Earth 🌍 Day ! And TGIF. I was reading an article on books that are hidden gems. Books the author loves but not many people have read. This book was one of her recommendations. So thanks to Libby I was able to borrow the ebook. 💚🐉🌍
#woundrousWednesday thanks for the tag @Eggs 1. I am a big bailer and often do not finish books - so I tend to avoid buddy reads and book clubs.
2. I like romantsy and science fiction/fantasy themes. 3.the tagged book starting a new series Tagging everyone who would like to play 💚🐉
1. Yes I like Anti Hero books. 2 The Vampire 🧛♂️ Lestat was my first favourite Anti Hero thanks Anne Rice #two4tuesday@theSpineView thanks for the tag @WJCintron Tagging everyone who would like to play
Happy Easter 🐣 to everyone who celebrates. My Libby loan for the tagged book has come in today. Just started another ebook so this one will have to wait.
Adam Kay ‘s memoir is full of humour and pathos. His struggle to provide skilled patient care under increasingly difficult conditions is a reminder of how brutal government mandates can be. A quick read full of vignettes written as diary entries. A definite pick especially for health care providers.
Just started this ebook and it‘s hilarious and harrowing! Adam is a young doctor thrown into the murky waters of hospital medicine unprepared to face the reality of practice compared to the classroom. The things they don‘t tell you at university- been there 😂
I‘m totally in love with Peter Grant and the whole Rivers of London world. All the gang is back including, a surprise. Paranormal shenanigans ( and a couple of grisly murders) ensue. The actor who reads these stories is phenomenal. Not the best in the series but very enjoyable.
Thanks @slategreyskies for your posting on World Book Day - I‘ve downloaded 4 books onto my Kindle- so the offer extends to Canada 🇨🇦
Yay ! A new Rivers of London book ! My hold came in and I‘ve been happily listening to the audiobook- Peter Grant and his Folly friends are back at work. 💚🐉
Thanks @Christy2318 for your great review of Isabel Murray‘s book Not That Complicated. I couldn‘t resist downloading and reading this fun M/M RomCom. Ray is a thirty something graphic designer fighting his attraction to the totally gorgeous Adam while stumbling over unpleasant surprises under his floorboards.
Sometimes you want to escape from our troubled planet and enjoy a hot 🔥 tryst with a big blue alien. This series is funny and sexy. I enjoy the audiobook format but headphones are a must. Hoopla has most of the audiobooks and I‘m starting a relisten. This is book 2 . 💙
When work and life get complicated I like to spend some time before bed listening to a favourite audiobook book. Thanks to Libby I‘ve spent the last few weeks listening to this fun romantsy. My personal favourite of the series and I think North is my favourite character ( although Parth is a very close second)
Grace Burrowes is trying something new : she released a series of romantsy mysteries featuring Lady Violet. I just finished book 4 - Lady Violet Enjoys a Frolic . I didn‘t like the mystery in this one and I found the story very unbelievable. I do like Lady Violet‘s romantic adventures. I suspect a twist will happen at the end of the series. Because I‘m borrowing from Libby I‘ve read book 3 &4 and I think book 6 is available next. So far a so-so
Bought this purrfectly 🐱 lovely bag at Munro‘s Bookstore on Saturday - Bookish Cats 🐈
Couldn‘t find Seaside Walks in the data base. Went downtown for the first time since March 2020. Had to stop by Russell Books to buy a book and some cute cards. The Inner Harbour hasn‘t changed much and The Empress‘s magnolia is in bloom.
Happy April 1 - I can‘t wait for the tulips 🌷 to be out in force. Just in time to read post Bridgerton 2 is Eloisa James new romance- the beginning of a new series: I‘m about 2/3 through and enjoying every minute. There‘s lots of humour mixed in with the heat 🔥
Thanks for the tag @WJCintron Count your rainbows 🌈 not your thunderstorms. #thinkpositivebepositive @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
Spent yesterday binge watching Netflix Season 2 of Bridgerton. I‘m considering a re-read of book 2 as I‘m pretty sure there were changes. Here‘s a few screenshots of Anthony and Kate 💚🐉
I like to read a middling kind of book during my lunch break at work. A story that is interesting enough to draw me in but not enough that I can‘t keep an eye on the time. This mystery definitely qualifies- it‘s okay- I wouldn‘t recommend it and I‘m glad I got it at a used book sale.
Just finished listening to this audiobook on the Libby app. I‘ve lost track of how many times I‘ve listened to it - at least 3 or 4. It‘s quite short - about 6 hours and is a prequel to a series of historical romances. When life is stressful I find it relaxing to listen to a familiar story. It‘s fun to be there at the beginning of the relationship and experience some gentle bumps along the way - alway certain of a HEA.
If Miss Marple was alive in this century she would be a member of the Thursday Murder Club. A group of four seniors living in an upscale retirement community who enjoy solving cold cases. Imagine their excitement when a real murder lands in their laps. Full of twists and red herrings, this is a fun read. I started it yesterday and had to finish it before work. It kept me guessing till the end.
Happy first day of spring. Trying out a new strawberry 🍓 coconut drink and a new mystery novel. The drinks a so-so but the book is so good. I have abandoned all my Sunday plans and am fully immersed in The Thursday Murder Club. I‘m about a quarter in and I‘ve already laughed and got a bit misty. Thanks for this #blameitonLitsy
I read this book a few years ago so decided to listen to the audiobook on Hoopla. This was the last book I read in the series. It‘s during Winter Solstice- the war is over the gang is together again for the holidays. I didn‘t enjoy it as much as the earlier books, it feels like a placeholder. But the audiobook is well done and it was a good refresher as I bought the next book in the series. I wish there was something between a pick and so-so
Adam and Amelia are trying to save their marriage by spending a weekend at a remote Scottish home. The stage is set for a twisty thriller, I don‘t want to give anything away. I spent every free moment reading this ebook so I think it‘s a pick.
This is a charming Christmas novella , part of the Rogues to Riches series. Pietr Sorensen , the village vicar, meets his Joy but she‘s just passing through the village hoping to marry a rich Lord. I enjoyed this predictable story - it was just the HEA I needed. A pick for me.
A fun quick read, had a hard time putting it down . It‘s a mystery told through email, messenger and transcripts. Pet peeve - this is a North American ebook so the units of money and distance have been changed which bothers me. The story explores issues of class , privilege , charity- can‘t say more as don‘t want to spoil the story
Took my time reading this gem. This is a magical book with heart warming characters and a slow burn romance. Linus Baker is trapped in a government job with the Department in Charge of Magical Youth - he is sent to a mysterious island to evaluate an orphanage inhabited by six very special children and Arthur Parnasus, master of the orphanage. I hope there‘s a sequel so I can spend more time on the island
Invested in a stand called a Flippy to help me hold my kindle and iPad. So far it‘s been helpful. It‘s light weight and it is marketed by it‘s inventor. A husband and wife team according to the package.
#WonderousWednesday @Eggs thanks for the tag. The tagged book is probably a pan. I‘m grateful for another sunny day. Tagging all my Litsy friends 💚🐉
Rereading the first book of a fantasy romance series in hopes I will get inspired to restart: I‘ve got Burned in one of my book piles somewhere. Taking the ferry home
