So I‘m cleaning and I‘m listening to this audiobook. My son decides to hide and jump out at me while I‘m carrying cleaning supplies and a bucket. I legit screamed out loud—not quietly either. If you haven‘t listened/read this, the kid is seriously psycho. So now I‘m peeking around corners. Maybe I‘ll listen to some music for awhile. 😬🙈🙈🙈🙉 #creepyAF

Schlinkles It‘s not only on Hoopla, the second volume collects the even numbered issues. I‘m guessing there were two storylines going on and they alternated issues, hence splitting them even and odd. 6y

This entire series was completely mind blowing. It took me a while to get through the third book just because of all the science and the math went into all the detail. The storyline diverts a bit then comes back around and the characters all connect to each other and the result is an epic speculative fiction extravaganza. All the stars for this series! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My morbid little mind went into this expecting more stories about death and the business of cleaning up after a death. Instead I was pleasantly surprised as it is an interesting look at the life of Sandra Pankhurst. Sandra is a survivor of the most unusual trauma and has rebuilt her life multiple times. She deals with her job as trauma cleaner with care and compassion. Read this!

Hi Bookish Peeps! It‘s my turn to pick our next book for book club and I want a thought provoking nonfiction book. I‘m looking for something true crime-ish. I‘m also open to memoirs, biographies or medical field-ish books. Your recommendations are greatly appreciated! 🤓👍

ReadingRover I recently read Missoula and it was amazing. So messed up how rape is handled in our culture especially with in a college town. I highly recommend it. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Well I don‘t do true crime, but I‘m currently reading When They Call You A Terrorist, about one of the founders of the Black Lives Movement and it‘s very good. (edited) 6y

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Otherwise I highly recommend The New Jim Crow to everyone since I read it.... it‘s definitely thought provoking and discussion starting, and very topical! (edited) 6y
Mdargusch Devil in the White City or In Cold Blood 6y
Weaponxgirl @Mdargusch these are excellent suggestions for true crime 6y
TiredLibrarian My group did this; it's a great book for discussion because it touches on so many issues. And it's a pageturner! 6y
TiredLibrarian Older but very timely; a developmentally disabled girl is raped by members of a HS football team; delves into the culture, trial, etc. 6y
Blaire This is memoir and medical...would be fun to discuss and is great on audio. My bookclub also all loved Henrietta lacks. 6y

keithmalek "The Birthday Party" by Stanley Alpert 6y
FantasyChick In Cold Blood by Trueman Capote, A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard, Hope:A Memoir of Survival by Amanda Berry, Breaking Free by Rachel Jeffs.....just to name a few. All excellent true crime stories. 6y

Reading the synopsis of the authors 17 brushes with death might make you a bit skeptical. Think about all your near misses, right place/wrong times. I had to shake my head at a few but they‘re believable even relatable. The story about her miscarriage really hit home. 💔 Also, I had very little knowledge about anaphylactic shock and the measures a parent must take to protect their child. All these stories were very well written.

Kate is prosecuting James, accused of raping a coworker/lover. His wife, Sophie, believes he is innocent. This flashbacks to the past when James and Sophie are at university, and also Kate, though she was someone different then. This was just ok for me. I really dislike that it is categorized as suspense/thriller on GoodReads when it was neither.
