Choosing this VERY fun memoir for #lettera in the #alphabetgame! If you like the princess bride and haven‘t read this yet, I highly recommend it.

As You Wish by Cary Elwes was absolutely fun! If you are a fan of The Princess Bride, make sure you read this book. Better yet, listen to the audio.
The photos were my favorite part.
I have had this book on my TBR for a while, and my #NewYearWhoDis list from @vonnie862 gave me the nudge I needed to bump it up a priority level. I'm so glad I did because this book was honestly delightful. Elwes is so warm and friendly throughout, with a very upbeat view of the making of The Princess Bride. I loved the additional memories from other members of the cast and crew throughout as well. If you are looking for some "dirt" you'll be ⬇️
When it comes to reading challenges @Clwojick and I are on the same page: Do ALL OF THEM!! 😂 This one isn't until May, but if you want to start planning, here is the info. Choosing a movie is going to be the tough part. I feel like The Princess Bride is my favorite, with Emperor's New Groove a close second... but I'm not sure I'll be able to find books with MCs named Buttercup or Kuzco 😆
#MayMovieMadness
I have been reading this book over the last few weeks since we read a The Princess Bride. Love hearing stories about how they made the movie.
This was such a fun listen -- definitely a must if you're a fan of The Princess Bride! I would definitely recommend the audiobook, especially since many of the actors from the movie voice their own sections.
Cary Elwes does more than reflect on his time making The Princess Bride; he also shares the thoughts of his fellow cast-mates & others who played a role in the making of the film. Hearing the stories of these actors, writers, & directors made me feel as if the experience making it was as magical for them as it was for me to see. I don't often get a lot out of audiobooks, but this one was so much fun & made me want to revisit the film immediately.
Overall pretty good, although I was surprised it was written with a ghost writer (/ghost co-writer) because the text isn't that high quality? Could have been funnier and stood out more, etc. As it is, a neat little book that is only interesting if you're really into The Princess Bride (but who isn't?), so explaining plot points was perhaps not the best choice. A weak pick.
enjoying this so far; the weirdest way I've found a book (in the comments section on jezebel)
19-22 Jun 2021 (audiobook)
Cary Elwes is exactly as you wish him to be - charming, affable and English. The perfect Westley.
I love both Goldman‘s book and Reiner‘s film. They are wholesome entertainment and have stood the test of time well. Cary‘s stories of making the film, with cameos from many others, are similarly heartwarming. He speaks highly of all involved and appreciates the opportunities and connections the film has given him. For fans.
I've been quiet for a bit, because life just seems weirdly busy. But I'm reading, and I finally got a #BookspinBingo! Even with doubles on the board it took almost all month! 😂
A light weekend read!
What a charming account of the making of the movie. I think I‘ll go watch it now. ❤️
Day 9 of #12booksof2020 @Andrew65
A bit lighter subject matter for today's book. Although I have this in print form as I found it on a bargain shelf, I listened on audio as I knew it would be so much better to hear all the different actors/etc. A welcome distraction from Covid-era lockdowns that were going on at the time. Lots of tidbits and things that I can 'hey, did you know?' to everyone now. Recommend to any fans of The Princess Bride
Absolutely loved this audiobook! Along with Cary Elwes' talent, you also get to hear everyone who was involved in making the film. It was so much fun to listening to this book!
#princessbride
Started listening to this today and am absolutely loving it! ❤️
Like many, this is my favorite movie, loved the book and it made me so happy to read all the bts stuff! I love knowing that all everyone involved really believed in this project and put in their all. Makes the movie that much more special to me.
During the Scallywagathon I am on the third prompt. That is Lost at Sea: A book you forgot you owned and I chose As You Wish. Started it last night and I couldn‘t help the happy tears! I was not expecting that at all haha! Just happy to be back in that world with those actors.

Princess Bride is my favorite movie and I love the book so I was excited about this book. There were good stories in here. I just wish there were more points of view from more actors but I understand that this is Elwes‘ story so I got my expectations wrong.
The Princess Bride is one of my all-time favorite movies, so I knew I'd throughly enjoy this look at the making of a classic. It was a bit fawning at times, but Elwes enthusiasm and love of the film and his fellow cast mates made that easy to swallow. 4 💥💥💥💥
Goal/Book 2 for #JoysofJune readathon.

Pretty. Dang. Hilarious. And interesting! Almost done with it and it‘s a fantastic and light read. Highly recommend for those who know and love this film. #asyouwish
Finished in exactly three hours! What are the odds? Inconceivable! #LitsyPartyOfOne @MrBook @Lynnsoprano @Alisnazzy
#LitsyPartyOfOne survival kit! Throw in some Stephen King in between each book (#chunksterchallenge2020) plus plenty of backups if I finish these. I‘m almost two hours in already! @MrBook @Lynnsoprano @Alisnazzy
When you come so often that if you switch your table, you confuse the lady bringing your food. #livingmybestlife
So lovely. A wonderful read for fans of The Princess Bride (not sure it would have much appeal outside of that).
If you read and loved this, I'd highly recommend William Goldman's books about his life and work in Hollywood (I'll tag in comments). Elwes mentions them both, and they are great reads and interesting views into movie making from an absolute legend.
#Booked2020 - #SetinHollywood @Cinfhen @4thhouseontheleft @BarbaraTheBibliophage
This one came in on OverDrive last night - I don't even remember putting it on hold 😂 But I'm super psyched because I LOVE The Princess Bride AND this satisfies a prompt for #Booked2020 - Set in Hollywood. So I'm ready to have fun storming the castle!
@Cinfhen @4thhouseontheleft @BarbaraTheBibliophage
😹 One of the funniest books I have ever read! A pure delight.
💫I was born to be a good friend and then I had a hysterectomy. 😳Hmm, didn't realize that having a uterus was required for friendship. 😂
🏄Summer all the way! Give me a pool or beach over a ski slope any day!
💖 The best thing about Litsy is all of the warm, kind, and supportive people I have gotten to know. 💜

This was a really enjoyable audio 🎧If you‘re participating in #Booked2020 it would be a fabulous choice for #Hollywood 🎬Thanks to @BarbaraTheBibliophage and @4thhouseontheleft for the recommendation 🥰 Even if you‘re not a super fan this book/audio was super fun ❤️👍🏽
One hour until I need to pick up my friend from the airport/ enjoying this audiobook but I‘m thinking it‘s really for Princess Bride diehards👑⚔️
Is this how you got ur name hun???? @AsYouWish
#audiobookedition #top10ofthedecade
I only started listening to 🎧 📚 in the last few years, so I didn‘t have as many to choose from. Yet I still have a fantastic group in my top 10! Two were books that I reread on audio (Becoming and Born A Crime).
I know Alice in Wonderland is an older book, but we listened to an audio edition on a road trip a few years back and it was so wonderfully done I had to include it!
My #nfNov wrap-up as I don‘t think I‘ll get another one finished before midnight.
Tagged book was my fave and I gave 5 others 4. By my calculations, I ended with 169 points.
Many thanks to @rsteve388 & @Clwojick for hosting this awesome challenge. I‘m a mood reader & tend to reach for fiction books, so this was a good way to remind myself that non-fiction can be just as fun.
Almost as delightful as the movie who's making of it recounts!
For any fans of the book or movie, you will love this book. 💚 I had such a fun time listening to members of the cast talk about what it was like making this iconic movie. #NFNov
#TIL that the actors did their own stunts. Cary was the one who suggested to Reiner that Wesley should leap into the quicksand to save Buttercup. Rob was worried it was too risky, but Cary convinced him and it turned out great.
5+3+1=9pts @rsteve388 @Clwojick
If you loved the movie, Cary Elwes‘s memoir is a must read. ❤️❤️❤️ All the stars! ⭐️🌟💫
#TIL when Count Rugen hits Westley with the butt of his sword to knock Westley out, Cary really was accidentally knocked out & woke up in the emergency room. So that shot is 100% real! 😂
#nfNov book 2 finished!
#TIL William Goldman, who not only wrote the book but also the screenplay for TPB, freaked out a few times during shooting, including the scene where Buttercup‘s dress catches fire during the fire swamp. Apparently, Bill missed the safety meeting & walked in at the wrong time. 😂
I‘m enjoying this book immensely. ❤️TPB❤️

While listening to the tagged book today, I leaned that A Princess Bride was a movie that almost didn't get made. Several people and studios tried to make the movie without much success, but when Rob Reiner came along he was determined to see one of his favorite books come alive on the big screen no matter what it took.
2 great reads so far for #NFNov and 2 spots marked off my bingo card. 💜 I'll be starting the tagged book later today as my audiobook while working. Happy Reading Everyone!
@rsteve388 @Clwojick
Princess Bride is one of my all-time favorite movies. The book has been on my bookshelf for many years.
As You Wish is a wonderful way of looking at the movie from the point of view of the people who lovingly made it 30+ years ago. I laughed, I cried, I now have to watch the movie for the thousandth time.
My best friend went to a screening of The Princess Bride with Cary Elwes a few years ago and brought me back an autographed copy. ♥️
For some reason, I wasn‘t very interested in this book until recently. I was reminded of it through Litsy, & I‘ve been searching for good audiobooks. This is a fun memoir & is great in audio format. Now, I‘m going to re-watch The Princess Bride. Inconceivable! @Clwojick #teamslaughter #scarathlon
It seems inconceivable (🤣 I crack myself up!)- given how much I love this movie- but I just cannot get into this book. I guess memoirs are officially not a genre I enjoy and I just have to stop trying. Back this goes to the library.
This doesn‘t fit our October theme, but i have been waiting on hold for a few weeks. With my new job, I‘m back to doing in-home work, which is how I started listening to audiobooks years ago. Cary elwes, Chris Sarandon, & Wallace Shawn will be at louisville, KY Galaxycon in nov. I‘ve met Wallace Shawn & seen Cary Elwes at other cons, but I‘m hoping they‘ll do a panel. @Clwojick #teamslaughter #scarathlon
A delightful 🎧 book that every Princess Bride fan needs to read. Most of the cast that is still alive make an appearance on the audiobook, which made it even better!
The Princess Bride has long been one of my favorite 🎥, it was so much fun to dive back into that world.
