Paul says, “Will you give me a chance, Marguerite l?”
I feel the smile spreading over my face, lighting me up inside. “Yeah,” I whisper as I take his hand. “Oh, yeah.”

I reviewed the other books in this series without realizing that I hadn't said anything about this one!! I enjoyed this start to the Firebird Trilogy. There's a hint of a love triangle but it's not the same as other because of the multidimensional aspect of the story. The guys don't have a stupid rivalry over it. There's work to do and they realize that. Our protagonist loses sight of it a little though.... it's a fun trilogy for a little escape.

#7Days7Covers #CoverCrush - Honorable Mention

7 days, 7 covers you love. No explanation desired or required.

Except... this one *kinda* has to come with an explanation. You see, this cover doesn't actually exist out in the world... but it was a proposed (and ultimately scrapped) design for the book tagged above.

I find it just as gorgeous and imaginative as the final choice.

It just couldn't keep my attention for the first half. I'm usually interested in stories of infinite universes & traveling btwn them. But I was frustrated that Marguerite didn't think through anything she was told, & the "everything would be fixed faster if we all just spoke to each other" trope. Once revelations happened, things got more interesting. What I did like was that it wrapped up the whole story by the end, & left me feeling satisfied.

jmtrivera I do like this cover, which is what attracted me in the first place. It was my #JudgedbyitsCover for #HalfBloodBingo! 3y

This book got me out of my reading slump. I fell in love with the different dimensions the story jumps through and each time looked forward to what the new world brings. I liked the main characters and can't wait to see what's next for them. It is a quick fun read even though sometimes the science behind the travelling among the dimensions does not exactly make sense.

Argh oh my goodness, this book 🙀🙀🙀 this was one of the first audiobooks I ever listened to, but I got a third through and it returned to the library, and I never got around to going back to it until now. Wow, I loved it so much. Time/dimension travel, romance, mystery, suspense - so so good. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am usually a straight romance, needs a happy ending, sigh love story kind of girl but this girl Claudia Gray has got me hooked on sci-fi! SCI-FI!!!! I hadn‘t even contemplated the multi verse before this book. But really the underlying theme that struck me and hung on was the thousand pieces of a soul. Would you love all of me if you saw all the bits I hid? Love the book!

The balance needed more sci-fi, less romance, but it wasn't bad.

It was okay. I guessed the plot very early on and I just slogged through the rest of the story hoping it would pick up. Unfortunately, rather than focusing on the adventure of traveling inter-dimensionally, the main focus was the love story which just wasn‘t that interesting.

It‘s an okay read, but it‘s not going fast enough for me. The emotional descriptions are a bit much for my tastes and I don‘t really care about the characters. Don‘t know if I‘ll finish this one.

This book I think matches that perfectly. What she leaned by jumping through parallel universes in that in every world she is connected to the same people. I don‘t think I believe in fate but this book does.

Though I‘m not a fan of the concept of “true” love and “fate” this book had a great plot and super cool concept of traveling through multiple different dimensions! Beware YA love triangles *gag* but I‘ll admit I was intrigued! Gray‘s writing pulls you in!
I finished the book last night on my BART ride to Berkeley and I thought that was appropriate for the setting of the book! Isn‘t this Train so clean and shiny?! 🙄

Uuuugh this book. I‘m forcing myself to finish it just because the setting is interesting. But then there are two other books. 😩 terrible love triangle. Took too long in one dimension so that some of this conversation is just head to desk annoying. I may have enjoyed this book far better if there was the same action going on in the first dimension they visited. I‘ll have a full review once I finally get this done...

Just finished this one at work during my break. A good overall YA. I agree with other reviews that though it dealt with traveling through dimensions, the author didn't make it too complicated for readers to understand. Very interesting concept. Fast paced and easy to read. I liked seeing some of the other dimensions, too.

I plowed through the last third of this book last night. Was up way too late reading it, but I needed to see how it ended. This dimension-hopping novel is fast-paced with a fun concept for how it all works. My only gripe is the romantic triangle; just not a fan. I really liked the moral quandary created by this means of dimension travel, too. Gray handled that well. #YA #ClaudiaGray #scifi

Started this novel by Claudia Gray about two weeks ago, and I‘ve enjoyed it a lot. The pacing is great, but I noticed something odd during an important kissing scene. It seems strange how much detail a person being kissed manages to notice. So much description suggests the character isn‘t that caught up in the kiss. A really good kiss shouldn‘t involve that much thinking, but most authors drag it out anyway. Agree or disagree?

GypsyKat I don‘t think that the amount of description affects how much I feel the characters are invested in a kiss. Unless maybe it‘s first person and the description feels off, then I could see that not feeling genuine. 4y
BillBlume @GypsyKat this was a first person novel, and that‘s what made it stand out for me. It‘s not like I haven‘t read it before in other books, but this was the first time it registered for me. 4y
GypsyKat @BillBlume That makes sense then. First person is tricky for stuff like that. 4y

I really enjoyed this book. Interdimensional travel lends itself well to a plot with a lot of twists, and while I did anticipate a few reveals, I was still frequently surprised.

This is the second Claudia Gray book I've read, and I really enjoyed it. Luckily my library has the sequel on libby do I can start it right away!

I have to say I‘m quite proud of the amount of books I managed to read in June. 9 books total (three not pictured here). Though I didn‘t enjoy all of them (namely A Journey to the Center of the Earth, can‘t say I‘m much of Verne fan), some of them surprised me like A Thousand Pieces of You. I didn‘t think I‘d like it all that much, but it was a great read! 💕 Hopefully next month will be just as productive! 😁
