A really fascinating true story of two women, one Jewish the other not, who quietly but passionately defied the Nazi‘s by both creating & distributing anti-Nazi leaflets and by living their lives as step-sisters but in truth were lovers. I found the writing a little dry, but Suzanne Malherbe & Lucy Schwab were completely compelling. Moving from Paris to Jersey hoping to avoid the German occupation, Suzanne & Lucy soon find the Germans 👇🏼

Cinfhen arriving in Jersey. The book contains dozens of photos of both the women & their avant-garde works, which I really enjoyed. Thanks for gifting @trishb 15h
Megabooks Sounds really interesting! 15h
Cinfhen @TrishB also sent me the fictionalized version of Suzanne & Lucy @Megabooks which Trish said is even better 14h

#NewIn2022 #Pop22 #Booked2022 #NetGalley #AudioARC Last year I read and really enjoyed the Disappearance of Agatha Christie. This is a fictionalized story focusing on the same 11 days, but through the eyes of Nan O‘Dea, the mistress of Agatha‘s husband Archie. Loving the narration so far.

Cinfhen And the cover art is STUNNING 🤩 20h
jenniferw88 I'm using this one too! 17h
Cinfhen It‘s really good @jenniferw88 🥰 16h
emmaturi I really for to read it. The Waterstones edition also looks fab! 14h
Cinfhen Im halfway through @emmaturi and it‘s very good. Mixed in with the disappearance of Agatha Christie is the backstory of Nan O‘Dea. Im sure MOST of this book is fictionalized but it‘s really done well. Audio is wonderful ❤️ 12h

The Four Winds: A Novel | Kristin Hannah

Mehso-so

This was PURE #MiseryPorn 🥺Just relentless nonstop trauma after trauma. I did learn a lot about early US Western history. Julia Whelan, while a stellar reader, has a very distinct tone and sadly all her books/characters sound exactly the same. So while she‘s Elsa in this book, I was still hearing the voices of Poppy & Alex from People We Meet on Vacation. The author‘s note was interesting, comparing Dust Bowl to Covid & idea of resilience.

TrishB I gave up on Hannah books a while ago. Realised they weren‘t for me. 20h
Cinfhen Agreed @TrishB this was my last one - it was soooo emotionally manipulative #OverIt 20h
TrishB I just read your other thread! Lol 😆 20h

squirrelbrain I didn‘t love this one either. 18h
Laughterhp Oh man, I just got this one from BOTM! 17h
Cinfhen I know @Laughterhp it‘s not a bad book: I was really invested in the story….it‘s just SO RELENTLESS in its misery - 16h
Cinfhen It felt similar in nature to her previous book, which also was SO MELODRAMATIC @squirrelbrain 16h
squirrelbrain I liked The Great Alone, albeit it a bit unbelievable, but this one really seemed to drag. 15h
Cinfhen Funny how we all approach books differently @squirrelbrain I remember @Reviewsbylola LOVING The Great Alone and I was SO DISAPPOINTED 😔 Hey, Steph… where are you??? Miss you xxx 14h

Super fascinating true story of two spirited rebels who defied the Nazi‘s with their quiet resistance. Thanks for sharing @TrishB #Pop22 #SapphicBook #NF22 #ImARuleBreaker Halfway point. Writing is a little dry but the story is too interesting to be boring.

TrishB This one can be quite dry. The fiction one puts the emotion into the story ❤️ 2d

Geez, this book is GRIM!!!! I was having #FoMo but now I know Kristen Hannah isn‘t the author for me.
I don‘t dislike this book as much as The Great Alone but I feel like the author is intentionally manipulating me.
I get the Dust Bowl was a terrible tragic time in US History and I actually appreciate the insight and descriptions Hannah provides but there‘s zero redemption. And I still have another 4 hours.

Caroline2 Yeah I‘m not keen on Kristin Hannah either. Bit too melodramatic. 2d
Cinfhen Yessss, that‘s exactly it @Caroline2 2d
BudgetingBookwormBabe Thank you for saying that... I've been wanting to say it myself! @Caroline2 I just didn't love it as much as everyone the did, just wasn't for me. 2d

Cinfhen I often find it‘s hard to admit to not liking a book that everyone else seems to love @BudgetingBookwormBabe I also feel like it will seem I‘m judging others taste, when it simply isn‘t true. I can appreciate how others might LOVE this book & author. 2d
BkClubCare I swear I am allergic to KH‘s writing. I won‘t read her anymore. The Nightingale sealed that for me (and I see that gave it 3 stars 🤣 I must‘ve been feeling generous.) 2d
Crazeedi @Cinfhen I liked her early books, and they've gotten not as good for me too, and yes grim is the word. 2d
Cinfhen I actually liked The Nightingale but again, I felt manipulated but I could not stand TGA @BkClubCare @Crazeedi I‘m happy this one is a #BorrowNotBuy 2d
PatriciaU I feel the same way about this author. Not for me… 2d
Cinfhen Woohoo 🙌🏻 I love when others validate my feelings xx Thanks @PatriciaU 2d
janeycanuck I hated The Great Alone and have been hesitant to pick anything else up by Hannah (though I have the Nightingale somewhere…) but have also been enticed by the buzz on this one. I think you‘ve confirmed for me that I should steer clear. 2d
BarbaraBB I just read my first book by her and thought it way too chick-lit #booksnob 2d
BookBosomed1 Im listening to this book; I agree it is grim. I‘d appreciate some levity here & there. The book seems like a good example for an overuse of pathos. 2d
Cinfhen Oh my!!! I‘m in such GREAT company/ thanks for letting me know I‘m not alone in the #UnPopularOpinion corner @BookBosomed1 @BarbaraBB @janeycanuck 2d
Lcsmcat @Crazeedi I agree that she‘s gotten much more emotionally manipulative in her later books. I hate when authors do that. 2d
LeahBergen I‘ve always sensed she‘s not for me, either! 😬 1d
Megabooks I‘m not a fan of hers. 🤷🏻‍♀️ good luck finishing! 1d

I know, I‘m all over the place this week!! As it gets closer to the end of the month, I need to hit some deadlines. I‘m SUPER behind on my #NetGalley reviews so that‘s a priority plus I have 5 audiobooks from OverDrive that all came in at once and will all disappear at once.

shawnmooney As my mom would say, it never rains but it pours! 😂😂💕💕. Trish totally sold me on Paper Bullets when she came on my Bite-sized Book Chats. Can‘t wait to hear how you get along with it! 2d

I had a GREAT reading week!!! Two books from my #NYWD list and all 5 books worked for multiple reading challenges💚
The clear cut winner was To Paradise. I‘m dying to discuss this book with all my Litsy friends!!!! My poor hubby got an earful last night until he had to say “ Please, stop.”

Soubhiville My hubby can relate to yours. Not for this book yet, but probably to all the others ever, lol! 🤣 3d
Booksarelifeaddict @Cinfhen how did you like people we meet on vacation? Thinking about reading it 3d
Cinfhen Sometimes he‘ll humor me @Soubhiville and ask questions but after about 5 minutes of my trying to explain To Paradise, he simply ran out of patience. To his credit, it‘s a tough book to follow. 😁 I liked People on Vacation @Booksarelifeaddict but, I was hoping for a bit more substance. After awhile it felt redundant and overly wrought for really no reason. I liked the audio narration and the writing was witty and sharp. Good banter. 3d

TrishB @squirrelbrain @Cinfhen 150 pages to go, I‘m trying to ignore everything else! 3d
Bookzombie My hubby can also relate to @Soubhiville and yours! 😂 I read your comment to him and he laughed. 2d
squirrelbrain I‘m not doing very well with ignoring everything else @TrishB - I‘m not even halfway yet…. 2d
Soubhiville @Cinfhen @squirrelbrain @TrishB I hope to start To Paradise tomorrow or Monday, hopefully I‘ll join your conversation about it next weekend if you don‘t mind 😁 2d
Cinfhen Yesssss @Soubhiville I would love that!!! As would my hubby 😉 2d
Cinfhen I think it comes with the territory of living with a #BookWorm @Bookzombie tell your hubby he‘s in good company 😆 2d
Megabooks Gonna start when the mail carrier finally arrives!! so much anticipation!! Mom and I do that back and forth to each other about our books but rarely do we like the same ones so we just get frustrated telling each other. 🙄😂 2d

At first I thought I wasn‘t going to like this book, but the more I listened the more invested I became. Dual narration, two timelines; Viv a night clerk in 1982, Carly her niece in 2017. Viv disappears one night never to be seen or heard from again, Carly reruns to her place of employment to search for missing clues. The right blend of believability & creepiness.

This slim novella packs a full weighty punch. Written in 1929, Larsen deftly pens a dark story of two childhood friends who re-connect after a 12 year absence. It was completely gripping and tinged with genuine tension. I can‘t wait to watch the Netflix adaptation. Great suggestion from @MallenNC #NYWD list and my #Booked2022 #SmallScreenAdaptation

Megabooks I just finished it too. Not ready to write a review yet, but 💯 agree with your assessment. Guess we did do a buddy read! 😂 are you going to use it for pop22 as well? 3d

MallenNC I‘m glad you liked it! So much in such a short novella. I haven‘t watched the film yet but I‘m curious about how they present the ending. 3d
monalyisha OOooO intriguing! 3d
Cinfhen Me too @MallenNC im hoping it stays true to the book - also do you think her husband was having an affair with Clare??? 3d
Cinfhen I‘m loving my match @monalyisha well done 👍🏽 ♥️ 3d
MallenNC @Cinfhen I thought she was so paranoid about Clare that she was imagining the affair. 3d
Cinfhen It‘s just that Clare was definitely sly and I wouldn‘t put it pass her but I agree, it seemed more imagined on Irene‘s behalf. And do you think she was pushed? Fell? Was it purely accidental @MallenNC 3d
MallenNC @Cinfhen Agree about Clare — I think she would have had an affair with Irene‘s husband. And I think she was pushed but I feel uncertain. Of course I think it was written to make the reader go back and forth on what happened. That‘s what I‘m most curious about with the movie bc it‘s hard to present uncertainty visually. 3d
BarbaraBB So good! And so much better than 2d
BarbaraTheBibliophage This was a hidden gem and I‘m so glad it‘s come out into the light with the adaptation!! 1d

This book redeemed itself, not because the gaps were filled but because my heart was. You‘ll recognize NY, but not NY, you‘ll recognize America but not America, you‘ll recognize A Little Life, but not ALL. There‘s SO MUCH to unwind, and I‘m eager to discuss To Paradise with all of you. Book Three makes up 50% of the book and it almost works as a standalone novel. I‘m finding it very satisfying, if not SUPER GRIM. I can‘t wait to discuss this book with others. In the end, I‘m glad I chose audio. The multicast narration is fantastic and their reading is adding to the intensity of the prose. About 2 1/2 hours left🤓

Cinfhen I can tell, It‘s DEFINITELY I book you want to hold @squirrelbrain @AmyG but I was TOO IMPATIENT to wait to have it delivered to Israel. 6d
Cinfhen I hope the hype doesn‘t ruin everyone‘s expectations @DrexEdit but right now I‘m really enjoying the beginning chapters 6d
TrishB @squirrelbrain I ordered Waterstones special edition, but not sure if signed. Like you I‘m not sure when I‘ll start, not on a working day ☹️ 6d
sarahbarnes I read both her other books and am very intrigued by this. 6d
Megabooks I‘ve missed reading her other books but am very curious about this one. 6d
RaeLovesToRead My copy should hopefully arrive soon.... 😁 6d
AmyG Ha…I started it. How could I not? Screw all my other reads. 🤣 (edited) 6d
Cortg A Little Life destroyed me but it‘s an all time favorite. I have a library hold on this one so it may be a bit before I get it. I‘m excited and nervous about reading it! I put a hold on a print copy because I can‘t imagine listening to A Little Life so I‘m going with that. Fingers crossed it‘s awesome. I haven‘t read The People in the Trees. Can‘t wait to hear what you think if it when you finish! 6d
Cinfhen I think print is the way to go @Cortg keep me updated @AmyG it‘s definitely a book you want to discuss xxxx 6d

Cute but I guess I was hoping for a little bit more substance a little less fluff. I really enjoyed the sharp, witty dialogue and I like Julia Whelan‘s narration but the character of Poppy started to grate on my nerves. Friends who meet every #summer to travel together, begin to develop feelings for each other but neither one is willing to risk ruining their friendship. #Pop22 #SetDuringYourFavoriteSeason

Cinfhen I think I‘ll still read that one @GondorGirl ❤️😁this was fun but it lacked that extra special something ( for me) 6d
Cortg I put the Vacationers on my challenge but I think I‘m going to switch it for this one or Beach Read because I read Modern Lovers and wasn‘t really a fan. Maybe I‘ll go with Beach Read. Such decisions! 6d
Cinfhen I liked the Vacationers more than this one @Cortg but if you want super lite this was fine. I was looking at Beach Read too!! I know #RealLifeDilemmas 6d

This just came in from my #LibraryHold list 💓❣️💓 After a heavier read, I‘m ready for something light-ish
Using for #pop22 #TakesPlaceOnAHoliday 🌴☀️👙
Also on @Jas16 #Top21of21 list 🧡

KarenUK I‘m going to do this one for that prompt too! I enjoyed Beach Read, so hope this one is good 🧠🍭too. 💕 1w
Cinfhen I haven‘t read Beach Read @KarenUK but so far this one is delightful- I like listening to Julia Whelan 1w

Laughterhp Oh interesting. I thought this prompt meant it took place on Christmas, Halloween, Easter, etc. Not a vacation. 7d
Cinfhen I was being creative and using the British term holiday as vacation @Laughterhp however, the more I listen to the book, the more I believe it works better for #TakesPlaceDuringYourFavoriteSeason ( which is summertime for me) 7d

I‘m so thankful to #ReadingAfrica22 &
#Booked2022 for giving me the extra push to finally pick up this book. In the vein of what Khaled Hosseini did for Afghan women, Abi Dare does the same for Nigerian girls in this heartbreaking yet hopeful novel. Adunni the 14yr old MC has experienced more trauma and sorrow in her young life, yet her optimism and joyful spirit is infectious. I‘m so glad I added audio narration to my Kindle purchase, 👇🏽

Cinfhen because hearing the Nigerian dialect & authentic pronunciation of the Igbo & Yoruba added so much richness to the story. So grateful for my #LoudBuddyRead friends for sharing their thoughts. 1w
RaeLovesToRead I'm only a fifth of the way in but I also was taken back to A Thousand Splendid Suns reading this far. Both books making me so so angry and conjuring the stifling and horrific realities of forced marriage. Which prompt are you using it for in #pop22? 1w

Kdgordon88 I loved Adunni! The author used a deft hand in showing the horrors of being a poor female in Nigeria while keeping her dream of having and using her voice alive. It would be hard to stay hopeful with such daily abuse. 1w
Cinfhen Adunni was the right blend of heart, humor & spunk. A great character @Kdgordon88 Im eager to continue #ReadingAfrica to discover experiences for others in different African countries 7d

RaeLovesToRead Gah, I'm so intrigued..... must... not... click... spoiler tags.... 1w
squirrelbrain I‘m trying not to either! @RaeLovesToRead 1w
TrishB Tia 💔😡 I can‘t believe this is 2014!!! If I was reading this about the Middle Ages I‘d still think it was brutal. Why did no one help? Finding hard to believe that this was acceptable. 1w
RaeLovesToRead I didn't expect the flogging. When I saw this post I wondered if they had taken Adunni back to Ikati and so I stayed up to make sure she was OK... then I was nearly at the end so I stayed up longer to finish it. I'm glad it had a happy-ish ending. You know you've read a good book when you think to yourself - "I wonder how things turned out for Adunni.. it's 2022 now" before you realise she is a creation. A remarkable character & a moving story. 6d

squirrelbrain Haven‘t even started yet! I‘m resisting looking under the spoiler tag….which isn‘t like me! 🤣 1w
Mynameisacolour The men are all absolutely awful! There was no way that I would have trusted my dad if I were Adunni. I felt nervous for her running away but she definitely didn't have much of a choice in the matter, I think the villagers would have killed her otherwise. 1w
Cinfhen I know @Mynameisacolour poor thing but now I‘m worried for her again….I think she might be sent to a brothel (edited) 1w
TrishB She just doesn‘t have a chance does she? Female lives are so cheap. Makes my blood boil. I think running gives her a choice where she obviously knows she isn‘t going to get one otherwise. 1w
Mynameisacolour @Cinfhen That was my first thought too especially when medical papers were mentioned. I couldn't put this one down! I wish I would have bought the physical copy to loan out to friends. 1w

I was immediately swept up in this slim but gripping story of an unnamed interpreter who takes a job at The Hague. This book was good. If you‘re going to compare to Falling, both involve a hijacked plane with a flight attendant‘s family being held as collateral, this one was definitely better, however audio narration was HORRIBLE. I did switch to print for some of it, but I was too engrossed in the story to stop, so I went back to audio while I was busy doing chores. Parts were hard to believe & the hijacker‘s motives were a bit extreme but…👇🏽

Cinfhen there was at least one plot twist I absolutely did not see coming!!!! And that made this book a winner!!!! I definitely would recommend PRINT!!! Another book from @MallenNC #NYWD list and works for #PoP22 #SetOnPlaneTrainOrCruiseShip
2w
MallenNC I read this one in print so I didn‘t know about the narrator. I agree with your review. Didn‘t see the last twist coming at all. 2w
MallenNC Also I haven‘t read Falling but I‘m curious about it. I enjoy Clare MacIntosh so I knew hers would be good. 2w
See All 11 Comments
Cinfhen The narrator did nothing to change her tone @MallenNC so it was difficult to know who‘s POV I was listening to as there was Mina, Adam, and the passengers!! I think 11 different pov‘s and just one lousy reader. This needed to be a multi cast narration!!!! But the story was SUPER fun even if some parts were implausible. And yes, I adored the ending 2w
Cinfhen My FAVORITE thriller is still this one by Clare Macintosh @MallenNC 2w
MallenNC @Cinfhen I love that one! 2w
Cinfhen It‘s THE BEST @MallenNC 2w
Laughterhp Yes, I really enjoyed this one. The twist at the end was good. And yes, the hijackers reasoning was a bit silly. 2w
monalyisha Ha! Too funny. A narrator can really make or break and audiobook. 2w
Cinfhen This was the first time I was really disappointed by an awful narration @monalyisha usually they add to the story not distract 😖 2w

I‘m not sure what I was expecting but this memoir was full of surprises. Omar Sharif Jr reflects on growing up as the grandson of iconic Egyptian film star Omar Sharif while also being raised by his maternal Jewish grandparents, both of whom were Holocaust survivors. Raised in Montreal, Sharif (half Muslim) attended Jewish Day school, had a Bar Mitzvah, affectionately called his grandparents Bubbi & Zaide and hid from EVERYONE that he was gay.👇🏼

Cinfhen This is his coming out story, as well as a love letter to Egypt, where he is no longer allowed to visit for fear of retribution for his homosexuality. Sharif lays bare some terrifying situations he found himself in, his road to becoming an activist, the backlash he received from both the gay & straight communities and how he found his personal freedom. 2w

Cortg Ooh! I put this on my TBR recently. Love a good memoir story. 2w
Cinfhen It was just okay @Megabooks I found it very interesting that he was raised in an Orthodox religious community given his other family background. You can wait for a rainy day to pick this up. It was short though and there was some really crazzzy stuff that happens to him. He becomes a personal assistant to a Saudi sheik and that part was pretty lascivious 2w
Cinfhen It‘s just a very unusual set of identities that OSJ deals with @Cortg and that does make for a good story 2w

Apples Never Fall | Liane Moriarty

My final #12BooksOf2021 was this family saga from Liane Moriarty @Andrew65 🎧❤️The audio was simply delightful and kept me engaged as I baked, cooked, cleaned and ran errands during December. This was the right blend of lightheartedness, drama, family dynamics and mystery.

Cathythoughts Nice review 👏 It is a good blend and I enjoyed it too 2w
Andrew65 Great choice. 2w

Really fascinating!!! This book delves into the ethics, science, and host of unexpected outcomes one might not think about when they open Pandora‘s box (kit) of DNA home testing. I would love to discuss this with a bookclub. I appreciated that the author included personal narratives. I found Alice‘s story particularly compelling. Second book from @MallenNC #NYWD list 💖 Will use for #Booked2022 #WrittenByAJournalist and #NF22 #OutOfLeftField

squirrelbrain Sounds fab - stacked! 2w
keepingupwiththepenguins Oooh, this sounds fascinating!! 2w

Cinfhen I really think your scientific brain will like this one @squirrelbrain it‘s BEYOND fascinating @keepingupwiththepenguins SO MUCH to think about 🤓 2w
4thhouseontheleft Oooh, stacking! This sounds like a book I would really enjoy discussing. I still sometimes can‘t believe that a little DNA test solved so many mysteries for me, even though that was the whole point of me taking a 🧬 test! 2w
monalyisha Thinking about using an Audible credit for this. It does sound interesting! How was the reader? 2w
Cortg I‘m adding this to my TBR! Genetics is interesting and I want to learn more. My youngest wants to do genetic research when she finishes her schooling, more like studying blood disorders, but genetics in general is fascinating. Thanks! 2w
Cortg A friend found out she had a half brother and nephews after taking a test and said there‘s no denying him, he‘s a spitting image of her dad who had passed. Her mom remembers his mom from a relationship before he joined the military and deployed. So interesting. 2w
jlhammar Totally agree. So fascinating! 2w
Cinfhen It‘s free on #AudiblePlus @monalyisha and the reader was very pleasant/ easy to follow (edited) 2w
Cinfhen I didn‘t realize that‘s how you found your sister @4thhouseontheleft I think you‘d find this book interesting as someone who went through the process. The author does a really good job describing the 3 types of seekers. The serious family historian, who‘s looking for family roots, the person who has gaps in their personal history ( ie adopted) and is seeking medical or identity answers and then the causal seeker who thinks, why not spit & see 2w
Cinfhen That‘s crazy @Cortg did the family embrace the discovery or did it throw their lives into turmoil?? This book covers lots of different reactions and ways different families and family members handled the discoveries they weren‘t actually anticipating 2w
Cinfhen It‘s a lot to consider @jlhammar because by sharing your DNA you are effectively sharing other family members DNA as well without their knowledge or consent (edited) 2w
Cortg @Cinfhen They accepted him. He lives in Florida, they‘re in Pa/Ct. When her dad left and they broken up, she found she was pregnant and just never told him. He met their mom and had their little family, no one knowing until she got a call from him after they had both done the DNA kit. Kinda crazy but kinda cool as well. 2w
Cinfhen Nice that they had a happy ending @Cortg unfortunately not every story ends that way💔 2w
MallenNC I‘m so glad you enjoyed this one. I listened to it too, and really liked the narrator. I enjoyed the personal stories most but the science and the legal issues were also very interesting. 2w
Cinfhen Definitely @MallenNC so much to consider/ I loved the ethics component 2w
BarbaraTheBibliophage I didn‘t know this was in Audible Plus. Just downloaded! I have the Kindle but just haven‘t gotten to it. We found a new cousin on my mom‘s side through DNA tests. I met her in October for the first time and we had so much fun! 2w
Cinfhen So nice that you discovered a cousin @BarbaraTheBibliophage 💖 2w

#AudioFolding Super fascinating look at the massively popular home DNA testing kits. This would make for a great bookclub choice. I‘m enjoying the personal stories more than the scientific jargon, although Copeland is doing a good job of keeping the information simple enough. Another book I own but needed the push from my #NYWD partner @MallenNC to finally pick it up.

monalyisha This looks great! And I love your tag. 😅 2w
Cinfhen It‘s kind of nuts what people discover from a simple spit inside a tube @monalyisha 2w
MallenNC This was so fascinating. I have talked about it so much since I read it. 2w

Rizzio: A Novella | Denise Mina

Pickpick

Dark & Delicious and expertly narrated. On March 9, 1566 David Rizzio, personal secretary and friend of Mary,Queen of Scots is brutally murdered in a coup. This short novella puts you inside the royal palace as the crime unfolds. Using this for #Booked22 #AboutRoyalFamily would also work for #AboutReligion and #pop22 #OneSeatingRead Special shoutout to @TheKidUpstairs for putting this on my #ReadersRadar #Hoopla

TheKidUpstairs So glad you enjoyed! 2w
TrishB I love a bit of Mary! She led a very full and scandalous life 😁 2w
Cinfhen I think you‘d like this one @TrishB even if it‘s short 😉😘 2w

Cinfhen The audio narration was fabulous @TheKidUpstairs - I heard this is going to be part of a series of Scottish authors writing HF about Scotland‘s darker history 2w
TheKidUpstairs @Cinfhen ooh, I love the idea of this being a series. If other authors bring the same short, hyper-focused, intense "moment in time" feel. 2w
Cortg Fantastic! I haven‘t even started my #pop22 challenge yet 😂 2w

A slim but thoughtful read. Very evocative with powerful prose. A simple man feels called to action on Christmas Eve. Using for #Pop22 #OneSittingRead would also work for #FavoriteSeason if you prefer #Winter Thanks to @TrishB and @Kdgordon88 for putting this on my #ReadersRadar - it was also on Erik Karl Anderson‘s #BestOf2021 #Scribd 🎧

Megabooks 👍🏻👍🏻 2w
TrishB I don‘t think I‘d call it my best read 🤷‍♀️ but I like more meaty books. Like at least a couple of hundred pages!! 2w

Cinfhen It‘s a 3 star read for now but I might bump it up @TrishB @Megabooks I prefer these shorter but powerful reads as opposed to long drawn out meatier tomes 2w
TrishB That‘s why there‘s books for all us I guess ❤️ 2w
Cortg I like the big, meaty chunksters but enjoy shorter books in between! Nice job with the challenges! 2w
Cinfhen I‘m starting to really appreciate these slim but succinct books @Cortg they manage to pack a punch in a short amount of space 2w
Cathythoughts I‘m looking forward to this one 2w
Cinfhen I think you‘ll appreciate this little gem @Cathythoughts it‘s a really quick read but it leaves a long impression 2w

Another favorite audio of 2021 🙌🏻 I debated between this audio and Will by Will Smith for my favorite of November but the Grohl was just slightly better for me. A delightful listen 🎧

#NewYearSpecial #20In4 @Andrew65
I quickly realized I HATE reading with a stopwatch ⏱ 😖so after day two, I just read without keeping time 😜
I found all 12 words and completed 5 books, so I‘m calling this readathon a success 🥳
Thanks for being such a fabulous host, Andrew.

AmyG I also hate the stopwatch as I start it and forget to stop it. 🤣 2w
TheSpineView Great job! I am still missing a couple of words. 2w

Cinfhen Yeah, the stopwatch felt like it was an assignment- just didn‘t work for me @AmyG 2w
Hooked_on_books I so agree on the stopwatch thing! I like to contribute to my library‘s summer reading challenge, but they count minutes read, so I just estimate. I try to estimate low to be fair, but I quickly opted out of using the stopwatch after trying it. 2w
mhillis Me too! I don‘t like timing my reading. 2w
Megabooks Way to go!! 🎉🎉 I‘m not good with a stopwatch either! 2w
Cinfhen Yay!!! Im in GREAT company @Hooked_on_books @mhillis @Megabooks reading should be fun not timed 😁 2w
