It took me months to finish this dense and complex story. I loved the intense moral dilemmas, the exploration of ‘other‘ (context: refugee crisis) and the dynamic between the central characters.
Prize worthy, indeed.

Just a quick note to say “Hello” and “I miss you”
It‘s been a whirlwind of a couple weeks: an engagement, a death, a hospitalization, a neighbourhood disaster, a promotion, a relationship bumpy patch, a new friendship. So, so, so crazy!
I‘ve officially been the worst #BuddyRead host EVER (Sorry #LiteraryCrew 😘 I love you girls).
I‘ll be back super soon. Really hoping to get caught up today. 🤞🏽
Well, it was our first #LiteraryCrew #BuddyRead of a #ShortStory collection and ... I found it just a little too easy to put down.
I did enjoy the ‘sample‘ of several authors‘ styles to consider for future TBR lists though.
It has been the BUSIEST couple weeks ... this is the longest time I‘ve ever spent away from Litsy since I joined a few years ago. 😱
So happy to be snuggled into new sheets with a book from my long-standing TBR.
🔶 New job! Starts in 3 weeks
🔶 Just one? I love a good Caribbean cruise
🔶 Apple pie
🔶 Baseball game tonight & theatre show with Grandpa tomorrow
Alright, friends, let‘s see your answers! TGIF
#Audiocommuting and contemplating life.
I‘m anxious for a career change that‘ll bring more balance into my world... but trying to focus on gratitude and mindfulness in the meanwhile.
Happy Monday, friends!

Who‘s in? 🙋🏽♀️
Just soaking in a few quiet moments before my plans begin: two interviews, a repairman service call and baseball game.
What are you up to today?
🚎 Probably... I can recall a funny time, when I was young, mispronouncing the name of our hotel (Ramada) in front of all the extended family.
🚎 Bumbershoot... if it‘s not a fake word, it sure sounds like one. Lol

Kinda creepy... the narrator sounds like an older guy and the text keeps describing these pretty teen girls in specific detail... and it‘s just not sitting right with me.
A light read (listen) about a group of childhood friends who reconnect in their 40s and discover that none of their lives are as they‘d expected.
I‘d say it was much more relatable than profound, but still satisfying to see each of the three girls figure out ‘What‘s next?‘
... and the jerk character gets firmly put in his place. 😂

Also, HAPPY CANADA DAY! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Tina, an underpaid 30-something assistant, makes an accidental expense report adjustment, which allows her to pay off her entire student loan. Before she knows it, she‘s at the forefront of a giant embezzlement scheme and .... a movement.
Fun and entertaining. A great summer vacation read.
🌱 I don‘t read, and have never finished any, book series
🌱 Emetophobia. Also not crazy about heights, creepy crawlies, superbug germs, etc.
It‘s been a crazy week: New niece, busy job, interviews, HVAC issues, hubby sick, etc.
I‘ve spent lots of time in the garden (silence!)
... but, also, with my #FallOPFiction #BuddyRead and ‘The Assistants‘ in print, and these two audio/ebooks.
How have you been doing? 😘😘
Yes please! 😃😃😃
Middle America in the 1820s.
A trapper, mauled in a bear attack and left for dead by his companions, comes crawling back through the harsh wilderness for revenge.
Visceral, compelling, intrepid.
