Bonhoeffer was someone I had heard about, but never realized how much he did, or attempted to do. I am excited to learn about this man.

Crazeedi He was a true hero 1w
Daisey I've read/listened to some shorter things about him, but someday I am going to listen to this one. Looking forward to seeing what you think. 1w
Laura317 @Crazeedi Yes he was! @Daisey I will let you know how it is. It‘s a looooong one! 7d
Libby1 I adore Bonhoeffer but I‘ve avoided this one as I‘m not a fan of Metaxas. Bonhoeffer was my wannabe boyfriend in college! 💔 2d
Laura317 @Libby1 I don‘t really know anything about Metaxas. I just heard this version is supposed to be translated from original German. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 2d

This was a very cute book. While it is probably aimed at a younger audience, I still immersed myself in an England full of vampires, werewolves, fly men, pickle men and general steampunk fun. I can‘t wait to read the rest of this series.

I love Joel Rosenberg‘s books! They are fast paced thrillers that - to paraphrase several reviews - seem to come right off the front pages of the newspapers. I can‘t wait to see what happens next.

This book was ok. The author‘s attempt at humor often fell flat for me. He seems like a grump. The descriptions of England were lovely, though, and made me wish I was able to visit again.

I should have learned from my first Bryson book that he is snarky and not really nice. No wonder we are considered “ugly Americans” when traveling. However, I love to read about England, so I continue on...

What an odd book. I‘m not really sure what was going on in Hill House, but it was a creepy tale. Not huge scares. It was more of a cold dread throughout. A definite pick.

Laura317 @IndyHannaJones That would be awesome! 1mo
Lizzybennetgirl I read that book in college! I remember thinking it was strange too, but it reflects on a lot of social issues in the 50‘s era. The horror genre is all about facing real fears in a safe place. 1mo
Laura317 @Lizzybennetgirl I have never thought of that genre in that light. It makes sense. 1mo
Lizzybennetgirl @Laura317 I had an entire course on it! It was definitely interesting, but the horror genre is not my cup of tea in general. 1mo

Cute mystery set in southern France. After living they an EMT attack, Jules has to learn how to live in a small village in France without knowing a lick of French. When a local is murdered, she decides to find the killer. First of a series. I liked it, but didn‘t love it.

Coco Chanel‘s humble and poor beginnings helped to define the woman she became. She was (and her house still is)an icon of fashion. The little black dress is because of her. While I didn‘t care much for the person portrayed in this book, I do admire her spunk and creativity. This is a good read.

I‘m interested to read this. I‘d read in another book that Coco Chanel may have been a Nazi sympathizer. I‘m hoping not, but we shall see. Her creative mind in couture is one of the finest.

thegirlwiththelibrarybag I‘ve read that too. It‘s not great - but a lot of people at that time were. We have the benefit of time and the fuller picture of what was going on. 3mo
Crazeedi This was a really good book. She was not really a sympathizer from my viewpoint, but she did what she had to for chanel to survive. I recommend this book 3mo
