The first one in the series was a bit too YA-ish for me. This one introduces some really interesting new characters and raises the stakes, so I‘ll probably pick up the third book soon.

So I‘m not much of a romance reader in general, but sometimes I just need something that gives me all the feelings. I loved Alexa as a main character, she reminded me a lot of my best friend. Although I wanted to smack Drew because of his “I don‘t do relationships” attitude, I enjoyed seeing them together. I read the whole thing in two sittings - and only because I badly needed sleep, I would have done so in one otherwise. 😊👍

A perfect read for a rainy evening. As always, Frey and McGray are highly entertaining. Although their cases are more on the grim and mysterious side of things, their banter eases things up with a lot of humor.

A solid four star read. It was interesting to see the friendship dynamics shift into something destructive. Although I must admit I skipped over some of the Shakespeare excerpts - I was not really in the right mood to wrap my head around them 🙈

That‘s about 10 hours done for #24b4monday. I won‘t reach 24, but my goal of 12 hours can be achieved easily.

So far I‘ve read for about six hours, mostly audiobooks. But now I‘m digging my way through this book. It does have some Secret History vibes, so I hope it does not disappoint.

I also realized that listening to playlists based on my current read helps me keep focused.

Also, seems like I picked a perfect time to jump back into Litsy, I‘ll give #24b4monday a try.

Not sure how I feel about the ending, but it was a really enjoyable read. Totally different from The Book Thief, but nonetheless a book well worth your time. I should get to Bridge of Clay soonish I guess - but there are so many other books to read....

Bridge of Clay has been sitting on my shelf unread since it‘s publication week, and it has been obviously more than a year. So I figured I should at least narrow my unread Zusaks down to one. So far, it‘s really heartwarming and funny.

VioletBramble I preordered Bridge of Clay and still haven‘t read it. If I don‘t get to it this year it will be the first book of 2020. 3w

So I‘ve been missing in action for about a year and it has been a bit of a rough one. I moved to a new place but only some months later had to end a relationship of five years - so I‘ll have to move again soon. My dad had a heart attack, followed by a difficult operation. Aaaand I tore both ligaments in my ankle.
But I‘m ready to dive into Litsy again and want to recommend this fabolous hippo western novella collection. 😉

Sadly this was only a so-so for me. I read the novella some time ago and it read like a trash horror movie. For this book, it felt a little like reading the same thing all over again. The revelation at the end didn‘t come as a surprise for me. But, I liked that she put more science background and character development into it. #freakyfriday

Julia is eleven years old when the earth‘s rotation begins to slow down. While this could be labeled as science fiction (and is on Goodreads) it‘s more about what happens to society and life in general when the days get longer and longer. Added to that are Julia‘s experiences growing up in those special circumstances. Once I got the sci-fi label out of my head, I really enjoyed it as a beautifully written coming of age novel. #mounttbrreadathon

stargazerblue49 I really enjoyed this one! I loved the coming of age in a world that‘s slowly falling apart. 2y
myers85 Very good review ? I think this is a good example of how science fiction isn't just spaceships and green men. Its the whole "what if?" question. Science fiction allows us to explore issues that other genres can't and in my opinion is the most human of all genres as it lets us truly explore what it means to be human. 2y
Maike @myers85 thanks 😊 you‘re completely right. I could not have said it in a better way. One of the best examples in my opinion are the books by Becky Chambers - yes they take place in space and they also feature aliens, but most importantly they show us a possibility of a welcoming, accepting society. 2y
