I like the sense of humor with which Jenny Lawson talks about her struggles with illness. Some of these stories are absolutely hilarious!

“THE OTHER DAY I HAD INSOMNIA AND I MADE MY CATS A #WATER BED OUT OF A ZIPLOC BAG AND A SHOEBOX. THEY POPPED IT WITH THEIR CLAWS AND THEY ALMOST DROWNED. THEN I TRIED TO PUT BABY SOCKS AROUND THEIR FEET BUT THEY KEPT PULLING THEM OFF SO I TRIED WRAPPING RUBBER BANDS AROUND THE SOCK HEMS AND THEN MY HUSBAND WOKE UP...” #QuotsyMay19
Bit late but here goes...
1. Butter with a bit of sugar or salt. 2. Stealing Beauty 3. True Blood series 4. Red wine. 5. I had wine of course. A glass and a half on what was supposed to be an alcohol free day.
This definitely was a re-read, but I enjoyed it immensely again! Lawson‘s open, honest and very very funny style make this an easy read about a hard subject. I would definitely read more from her (I have read her first book too) as she‘s so engaging. And the kinds of tangents she goes off on are entirely relatable!
1. Furiously Happy is hilarious.
2. I got an offer for an in person interview for a full time job.
3. Tacos, lol.
4. I think 15. It‘s a lot..
5. Love to! Best part of the Litsy week! @howjessreads #friyayintro
I am almost entirely certain that I‘ve read this before, and I‘m not much of a re-reader (too many books waiting to be read - story of all our lives, I think!) but something made me pick this up and I‘m really glad I did. It‘s funny and engaging, so it‘ll be a worthwhile second visit!!
This book is amazing, but you do have to play close attention bc her stories are a bit tangential. But what I loved most about this book was that she explained mental illness with such elegant clumsiness, and decadent truth. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
So I am sitting in Central Park in a rock thinking about burial plots (no surprise from picture prompt) and remembered that there are only 2 available plots on the island of Manhattan. There were 3 but Ed Koch bought the one with the best location ;). I love how this book has lifted the ordinary to circus level fun
Day 1 vacation - I‘m basically mansplaining my coffee books and knitting on the much coveted open window ledge of cosmos laundry mat (fits one) and laughing out loud that maybe I am living out a would be passage of this book :)
I‘m only about 30% in but I‘m pretty sure that this books is 60-75 percent the unexpectedly entertaining ramblings is a mad woman.
Jenny Lawson is a treasure. I just can‘t stop smiling when I listen to her books. She tackles tough subjects with humor that allows you to see yourself in her struggles and think...it‘s not just me. I love how she normalizes struggles with mental health without trivializing it. She shows us this is life and it‘s hard, but we can still find ways to be furiously happy!
“The amount of money I would pay for people to stop fucking up grammar is only slightly lower than the amount I‘d give to ensure I never have grammatical errors in the statements I make calling others out on their grammatical errors.” #Grammar #QuotsyMar19
The tone of these pieces are darkly funny; Lawson is occasionally horrifying (her thing for taxidermied animals is just baffling to me) but always honest, and I laughed as much as I cringed. Now and then, I found her a Little Too Much, like when she name dropped being friends with Neil Gaiman or detailed her ridiculous behavior during an all-expenses-paid trip to Australia. (Privilege and obliviousness make me snippy.)
We should really think about the language we use...🤔😳🤔😳
"NEWBORN LLAMAS DIPPED IN GLITTER" - which by the way is a totally save and a bit disappointing thing to google...this was the best I could find. ???
Yes!!!! I also want to do this!!!!!! 😍😍😍😎😎😎
I am soooo going to enjoy this #blameitonlitsy book!!! I am on page 43 right now and already I spitted out my drink, laught out loud (various times) and audibly said "yes" a few times as well. ???
Do you ever watch a movie or read a book and ask...did that just happen??? I think I'm still trying to chew on the seriousness and profound hilarious way the author battles through life. My big take away was that some days there just aren't enough spoons...and that we all have those sort of days. Be kind!!!
We left at 5:30am EST this morning from DC heading west to Seattle.
Thank you everyone who gave me audiobook suggestions. I downloaded several from the library & am currently listening to the tagged audiobook. I have found that it‘s much easier to focus on them when driving. And, of course, zombie gallbladders also helps. 😂
This book is finally over!🎉🎉😳
Other than one or two essays, I was not a fan of Lawson‘s style. I usually don‘t like books by bloggers, and this definitely felt like a compilation of blog posts instead of a book. The rambling drove me nuts. But it was the only audiobook I had on hand, so I powered through.
Really happy with my walking mileage this week! Bike miles: 36.1 #LitsyWalkers #green

1️⃣Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson 2️⃣Galentines Day All the Way! 3️⃣Brown 4️⃣Clowdus Aubrey 5️⃣Will do!
I don't know how I feel about this book... It can definitely be classified as a collection of weird anecdotes. 😁 At times I laughed so hard I cried, but then some times it felt she was trying too hard to be funny.
However, the way she described how her mental illness feels and affects her was very honest and real. Chapters We Are Better ThanGalileo. Because He's Dead. and The Big Quiz, especially, really hit home for me.
Hey #LitsyWalkers! I‘m doing more riding this week but wanted to check in and say hi!! Most of my walking is just to/from Maya‘s school at the moment, but I have biked 16 miles so far this week on my Peloton!
Listening to my #audiobook during lunch instead. Today it was heuvos rancheros, with fruit and a dollop of plain yogurt for dessert.
It‘s taking forever to get through this book.
@vkois88 Thank you so much for this wonderful package. #xmasxstitch person may have disappeared, but you were a great host and a wonderful person 😊 I absolutely love everything and I am especially excited for the tagged book. I love the ornament you made and it will definitely be hung on my little tree next year. I feel so spoiled 💕
My Fitbit died right after I hit 10,000 steps. How‘s that for timing!
A 20 min spin ride + walking to/from school twice = an easy goal day. Well, maybe not easy....my butt is quite sore from readjusting to daily rides and my calves are making their presence known this afternoon!
The mileage doesn‘t include my bike ride, which is a bit annoying. I think I am going to start using The Strava app more for tracking.
There will be moments when you have to be a grown-up. Those moments are tricks. Do not fall for them.
My stress level was high this morning, so I took advantage of the beautiful weather to indulge in some self-care. Hubby and Maya dropped me off at one entrance to the trails, and I met them at the park at the opposite end. It turned into a beautiful family morning, and I also have two more greenways complete! #2019greenwaychallenge #LitsyWalkers
My mind wandered a lot, but this #audiobook seems to work well for that. I guess that‘s a good thing?
Hey #LitsyWalkers, I haven‘t had time to post the last few days, but I‘ve still been walking! Just not very much during the cold days this week. I am SO happy to see Carolina blue skies today. #nofilter
I often see - or hear - hawks in my neighborhood, but today one actually sat still long enough for me to take a pic!
Also included my January totals according to my FitBit: 125.58 miles! 🎉🎉🎉 #audiowalk
At this point, I'm just powering through this book. I probably should have read her blog a little before starting this as she's... Well, a little bit goes a long way.
