Now this one had me hook, line, and sinker from the start. It was a little easy to predict but for me that didn‘t take away from the story. Man the storytelling was GOOD. I liked Alice right away and was rooting for her the whole way. The First Mistake was available to purchase starting yesterday, June 11, 2019!

Mehso-so

Also out June 11, 2019 was The Perfect Date by Evelyn Lozada. A cute, flirty, fun read with some tidbits of great information. It‘s not a book is necessarily recommend to EVERYONE but one thing I loved was the author‘s dedication to showcasing realities. The main character, Angel, and her son Jose are working their best to make a better life for themselves. Angel works multiple jobs and is putting herself through nursing school. ⬇️⬇️⬇️ cont‘d

Smangela Jose has asthma, a very real problem for many children of color and this prompted me to do some reading into this on my own time. I love that Lozada took her platform to shed light on an issue that could help people out! 5d

This book was on the shelves yesterday! Reminiscent of the movie Simply Irresistible or Chocolat, there is food & magic. It has some serious subjects but doesn‘t delve too deep, keeping it very surface-level and I doubt you‘d be very emotionally affected by this novel. Which isn‘t a bad thing, sometimes it‘s exhausted to be left so heartbroken by books. But it left me happy & intrigued. And wanting very much to visit Chinatown in SF.

Enjoy!

I need help sorting my thoughts on this.

Littens what‘s your take on this?

Soubhiville Huh. I wonder what his reasoning is for that. That‘s not something I look at when choosing what to read at all. Not even a consideration. 3w
DannyHattan Excuse my ignorance, but what‘s M/M? 3w
LibrarianRyan @DannyHattan male/male romance or erotica. 3w
See All 13 Comments
LibrarianRyan I bet some of the books by men are actually pen names for women. It happens in standard romance frequently. Men use female pen names to write romance. 3w
Smangela @LibrarianRyan interesting! I never thought of that before. 3w
DannyHattan Cheers at @LibrarianRyan while I respect other people‘s opinions ..... it‘s not a way I live, I mean who cares? Each to their own. Like you said I wonder if it goes the other way, my guess is not. 3w
LibrarianRyan @DannyHattan not to long ago (within 2 years) I read that more m/m erotica was purchased and read by women than by men. 3w
TrishB A well written book is a well written book....I don‘t care. 3w
LibrarianRyan @DannyHattan if your ever interested in trying out a book I can offer suggestions. I used to review erotica for LJ. 3w
Smangela @Soubhiville I was really surprised by it, I don‘t know maybe I have the idea that love is love is love is love? So if you‘ve experienced any romantic relationship it‘s kind of a shared experience? The comment made me feel confused lol I immediately felt like it was more a convenient excuse to not read female authors... but I recognize that may not be a fair impression either lol 3w
Smangela @DannyHattan that‘s where I went too, like are they that selective with all their reading? 3w
Smangela @LibrarianRyan interesting fact again! I‘m not really into erotica, but I love a good love story. 😍 3w
PerksOfBeingABookworm Is he a man who has been or is in a M/M relationship? Maybe he thinks that a woman could not accurately portray a M/M romance...? I could understand if he‘s in M/M relationships and is wary that a person who has never been in one could not write a novel that reflects those relationships. 3w

I was late to the Queer Eye game. It‘s on season three and I only just started binging it a week or so ago. As I was watching and falling in love with the cast I had a light bulb moment where I remembered seeing Tan France‘s gorgeous face on NetGalley. I basically halted all I was doing and got on to NetGalley. I wasn't disappointed in any way, shape, or form. This was just as charming, sassy, and witty as Tan on Queer Eye.

Smrloomis Thanks for posting this! I had no idea this was in the works 👍🏽😆 and it sounds great to me! 4w

Graciouswarriorprincess @Smangela Yes. I loved his honesty and he has a great sense of humor. It‘s nice getting to know the guys. I read Karamo‘s book. Now I just have to read Jonathan‘s book and get Antoni‘s cookbook. I wish that Bobby would write a book too. (edited) 4w
Smrloomis @Graciouswarriorprincess wait, the other guys have books out too? How did I not know this already???! 😆 4w
Graciouswarriorprincess @Smrloomis Only Karamo and Tan‘s books are out now. Jonathan and Antoni‘s books come out in the Fall. 4w

You‘ll want to read this book, you SHOULD read this book. People are all alike. Even if you aren‘t LGBTQ, you‘ve experienced a crush, a relationship, maybe you‘ve experienced love. And that is a shared experience we can all relate to. This is a book about self-discovery and acceptance and all the good things you want to see in a good book. You can get it yourself on May 14th, 2019. TODAY. PS GOT THIS IMAGE FROM GOODREADS because...

Reading The Woman Inside by E.G. Scott before it debuts on the 22nd - hailed as being twisty and thrilling (I‘m on a thriller binge right now it seems).

I‘m certainly intrigued at almost 100 pages in, but I also feel like I need to start taking notes. I don‘t know if it‘s the alternating narrators AND timelines or if it‘s an intentional confusion to mimic a drug addiction?

I don‘t know what the heck is going on here yet!

Also curious as to ⬇️

Smangela What two writers make up E. G. Scott - Im trying to figure out if my disconnect with Rebecca is just because of vastly different lives or if it‘s because it‘s a man writing a woman‘s POV? Anyone else reading? (edited) 5mo

So some people aren‘t fans of movie-tie in book covers, I‘m kind of neutral about it.

BUT WHAT DRIVES ME INSANE is when people post about the movies like there isn‘t a book.

Told my hubby I needed some alone time tonight for self care. The little one has started swimming lessons which he loves but I think may be triggering some separation anxiety, which can be a little tough. So I‘m hiding in our NEWLY finished 3-season room with a blanket and a cozy mystery ♥️

IamIamIam My kids have been swimming since they were 8 months and 4 months. They're now 9 and 6 and it was one of the best things we ever could have done for them! The separation anxiety will stop, I promise! It's always hardest at the beginning. 🤗🏊‍♀️ 10mo

ReadingEnvy So good to know you need it! My mom made me take swimming lessons my entire life because she is terrified of the water. I‘m glad she did. 10mo

At the start of Chapter 3 and this book is already more than I bargained for, with recountings of Elizabeth Bathory, Mary Ann Cotton, Agrippina the Younger. Although I can‘t read it right before bed, learned that lesson the hard way 😂
