Finally posting about my #newyearwhodis list from @CharityBlee I haven‘t read any of these and it‘s tough to pick a starting point because I‘m a big mood reader but I‘m leaning towards Carry On because I loved Fangirl. Thanks for including me @monalyisha

Scochrane26 I love the Carry On series, although I haven‘t read the 3rd yet. I wasn‘t sure about it until about halfway through Carry On, then it gets good. 2w

First nook finished for #24in4 Readathon. 2nd in series of hockey romances. I seriously loved this one between Bishop, who is a grumpy gives no clucks forward and RJ‘s little siste, Stevie. RJ and Bishop also don‘t like each other and there were issues between Stevie and Bishop in the beginning. I don‘t want to give any spoilers away but it all turns out great in the end! @Andrew65

First book done for #20in4Readathon I actually finished it last night before I went to bed so today will be spent either with the Bridgertons, or Obama. Unless I decide to read something totally different. It happens because I‘m all about the mood! ##saveahorse this wasn‘t a bad read, I gave it a pick although there were a few things that bothered me. Still I liked it enough to continue.

Andrew65 Great 👏👏👏 4mo

I treated myself to the Parker‘s bring on the heat big box snd it arrived Wednesday of last week. Such a long week so I loved seeing it on my doorstep. There are a lot of summer goodies in it but also 10 signed books (4 from Weston, 4 from Ali, and 2 from C. Morgan). So happy I splurged on the big size. I don‘t think I‘ll get all these read anytime soon but I‘ll probably start one this weekend. #20in4readathon @Andrew65

Made some muffins and eggs with my fancy new stove this morning. So refreshing to have a working oven and burners I do t have to light myself again. Now I‘m ready to settle into some #20in4readathon time! Started Stolen Prey by John Samdford (because the man doesn‘t write anything bad and I‘m a Lucas girl). Bought a fancy new stove today. For no more than I actually cook, I maybe could have gone more basic but I was seduced by the bells and whistles. Plus, it was only $100 more than the basic one I was looking at. It doesn‘t come until Friday and I‘m working 10 that day so I won‘t really get to mess with it until Saturday but it‘ll be refreshing to have a functioning oven and burners I do t have to manually light.

I‘ve done it. I‘ve fallen down the reverse harem rabbit hole thanks to #NewYearWhoDis and @BayouGirl85 . #FabulousFebruary I can‘t believe I waited so long to finish this trilogy! Separate from her LOKI MC series, yet still connected, this was a fun trip back to my 80s high school days as we see how Chaser and Mallory meet and fall in love. Tied to LOKI through Chasers MC background but he‘s an aspiring rock star, Mallory‘s an aspiring actress from a mob family. Sure, it might be a little over the top but that was the 80s. @Andrew65

The cover was definitely better than the book. I‘m into the overarching storyline enough to eventually read the next book in the series but the heroine in this one annoyed me to no end. Now, I‘ve not been in her shoes, but I‘d like to think that if I was fleeing from my abusive, drug dealing ex boyfriend and I go home where my brother and his friend run a PI business out of their body shop, I would trust them to take care of me.

CocoReads But she does none of that. I think if the book had been a bit longer and the characters more developed, I‘d have liked it better. The storyline itself is good though as there‘s a bigger bad guy out there, so eventually I‘ll read the next one, but I‘m not in a hurry to do so. 10mo

#notbookrelated as most of you know, I‘ve been getting my vaccine for Covid. I received my second dose last night and although I feel ok, I definitely feel worse than after the first one. This time in addition to my arm being sore, I woke up with a headache and upset stomach, and my joints were a little achy. Honestly I cannot say that‘s all vaccine related but I can‘t say it‘s not either. 👇

CocoReads I am prone to headaches and my stomach always gets queasy when my sinuses are draining. I‘m going to guess it‘s a mild reaction to the vaccine or maybe a combo of the two. The headache and stomach ache were gone by lunch though. I‘m still a little achy though but if that‘s the worst, I‘ll take it. I did pregame with 1000 mg of Tylenol though. It may not have helped, but it definitely didn‘t hurt. 11mo
CocoReads One of my coworkers however, did have a more significant reaction and called off. All the same symptoms as me plus a fever. I texted her at lunchtime and the fever was down but she was still feeling pretty icky. 11mo

CocoReads @AmyG I‘ve heard that too. I‘m feeling lucky that I only feel a little bit off, and hoping it‘s no worse than that. 11mo
vivastory I've heard that if you get the vaccine in your dominant arm that helps with the pain. I received the first dose of the Moderna vaccine last Thr & didn't have any issues with it. I know a couple of people in the vaccine clinic I was assisting with last Thr & Fri had minor side effects, but these issues passed within 10-15 minutes. 11mo
AmyG @vivastory I was told that, too. I got mine 12/30. My arm was a little bit sore. I had the Moderna vaccine and had one day of being very tired. (edited) 11mo
CocoReads @vivastory excellent. I did my non dominant arm (which is my right one), that‘s where I always get my flu shot too. Most I know aren‘t having too many issues either so I think it‘ll all be fine. Glad you had a good experience! (edited) 11mo

Scochrane26 I just had a friend tell me that the 2nd dose made him sick for about a day. He didn‘t have a problem w/ the first, so now I‘m expecting to be sick for my next one. 11mo
CocoReads @Scochrane26 I definitely expected so@e side effects from this second one, the only problem I had with the first was a sore arm. I‘m hoping to see my friend Justin because I think he got his second one last week but he said the first one made him sick too. So I wonder how the second made him feel. 11mo
Scochrane26 @CocoReads my friend & I got ours the same day. She got a little sick, but I was fine. I‘m interested to see how we both react to the 2nd dose. 11mo
Elizabeth2 Glad you‘ve gotten the second dose! A friend of mine was told when she scheduled her second dose to make sure she takes off work the following day and to expect to not feel well. My brother has had the first dose and had no issues other than a sore arm. He has his appointment for the second dose and was not told to take off the day after - they didn‘t mention anything like that to him. 11mo
The_Penniless_Author Thanks for sharing! This tracks with my friend's experience as well - first shot, nothing but a sore arm, but after the second shot he got a really nasty headache, like migraine-level bad, along with an upset stomach. Then after a few hours it just went away, all of a sudden. 11mo

CoverToCoverGirl I‘ve been following the news and it is very distressing.... so much going on but after next week I‘m sure better days are ahead. I‘m sure you brightened her day. Hugs from Canada! 🇨🇦 (edited) 11mo

I was determined to finish this today and I did! Overall I really liked it. Parts of it made me mad (as racism tends to do) but I was fascinated by the pack horse librarians and I had to google the blue skinned people and methemogloinemia. I didn‘t realize they used methylene blue to treat it or that it came in pills (we carry the injectable at work but not for that). #AnyWayYouReadathin is underway!

Bailedbailed

Bailing on my first book of 2021. At almost 40 % in, I still feel no chemistry between the main characters. I know it‘s an enemies to lovers, which I normally like, but I don‘t like either character and so I‘m just calling it quits. Luckily it was a KU book, so I‘m not out any money, just time. Maybe I‘ll try again someday, but probably I won‘t, there‘s just too many other books on my TBR.

Crazeedi I've been there, but a bummer it's your first book of year 11mo
CocoReads I worded that wrong. It‘s the first book I‘ve bailed on this year. But yeah, I‘ve only finished 1 or 2 so far. It‘s been a rough start. 11mo

@sebrittainclark OMG, this tea smells amazing! I came home “not” sick from work (I feel fine but I have a pulled muscle in my back) and decided to finally dig out my Manatea and try this tea while I try to madly finish my book group book (although we‘re meeting via Facebook these days so no rush).

tracey38 I am so sorry about your back. I have been home all week from work with a strained muscle and possible pinched nerve in my back. Back pain is awful. Hoping you feel better soon. ❤ 11mo
tracey38 Also, your manatee tea steamer is adorable! 11mo
CocoReads @tracey38 it‘s feeling much better. Down to where it only hurts if I twist a certain way. I‘m glad it was today, while everyone was there instead of tomorrow or Friday, when we‘re down a couple of people. 11mo

CocoReads Manny (my manatea) says thanks! I was shopping for more and saw a baby Nessie that might have to come live here. 11mo
MaleficentBookDragon I LOVE this book so much. 11mo
CocoReads @MaleficentBookDragon it‘s so good but it‘s taking me a long time to read because I‘m savoring every word! 11mo
sebrittainclark I love this tea. It just feels so warm and cozy. 11mo
tracey38 @CocoReads yeah, I have a hard time when I move a certain way, too. Glad it's feeling better! 11mo

#WinterGames2020 final check in for #TeamReadNosedReindeer I only impulsively read 2 books this last week for 2 readathons. Marrying His Best Friend by Jennifer Gracen and Beyond Control by Kat Martin. I netted 110 points for each so I guess 220 points @StayCurious #ReadYourWay @TheSpineView #ShutdownReadathon @Squidget I‘m reading the tagged book as my first 2021 read.

DieAReader Great job!👏🏻🥳🎉 11mo

Estimated time of power restoration is Monday by 3 pm. In the meantime I‘ll be hanging at my mom and dads.

BookishMarginalia That sucks! I‘m glad you have refuge nearby! Stay safe and warm 💜 11mo
CocoReads Luckily for me my parents never lost theirs. I‘m betting because it‘s the one house in our family that‘s got a whole house generator. If we had been prepared, we probably would have been fine. 🤣🤣 11mo
CoverToCoverGirl Yikes! You‘ll have time to play cards! We‘re getting this throughout today and overnight. Our first major snowfall of the season. 11mo
See All 6 Comments
CocoReads @CoverToCoverGirl we had a foot of snow on Christmas Eve then it melted and then it rained. Yesterday the freezing rain came, then the snow. At one point we had 32k without power. It‘s down to about 24k now. 11mo
CoverToCoverGirl Wow! Just what you all needed.. not! Hope power is restored ASAP.. what a miserable mess.. be safe, if you need to get out to work drive safe. I hope we‘re not in for the same mess, it‘s coming pretty hard right now but no freezing rain yet. 11mo
CocoReads I don‘t work til Monday so I‘m in good shape. Oldest has to work tomorrow but it warmed up just enough that we‘re slush 11mo

My current look. Not pictured: my feet in both socks snd slippers under the blanket. 🤣🤣

Susanita This looks like me the winter I spent at my mom‘s in Oklahoma. The wind really does come sweeping down the plain, right into my bedroom, despite my stepfather‘s valiant attempts at mitigation. 11mo
CocoReads @Susanita it‘s unpleasant. I‘ll be heading to my parents around lunchtime because they still have power plus a whole house generator if they lose power. Plus they have actual food-I had peanut butter for breakfast. Because I haven‘t been to the store yet. As it turns out, that‘s probably a good thing. 11mo
Riveted_Reader_Melissa I hate it when the power goes out! Head to your parents early if you can. 11mo
CocoReads @RivetedReaderMelissa I‘m getting ready to head over now. 11mo

Using my new mug from @sebrittainclark and the #Bestof2020 swap! I haven‘t tried the tea yet because we lost power last night and I didn‘t want to fumble in the dark for my infuser. We also don‘t have running water when the powers out. Luckily we have a gas stove so we manually lit it and boiled enough water for tea and cocoa. No word when we might be powered back up so I guess I‘ll be huddled under the blankets reading if anyone needs me.

Thank you so much @sebrittainclark ! Everything is perfect! In fact I‘m wearing the fuzzy socks right now and my feet are toasty warm! I love all the books snd have definitely had my eye on Mexican Gothic and The Right Swipe for some time. Everything looks so good, I‘m not sure where to start! And the mug is perfect! And the tea smells so good, I‘ll be trying it out tomorrow morning. #Bestof2020 @candority

sebrittainclark I'm so glad. That tea is my favorite right now! 11mo

This will be my last finished read for 2020! I enjoyed this one-plenty of suspense and I like how even though the mc‘s were immediately attracted to each other, they didn‘t just instantly fall into bed together. They each have threats to their lives that have to be dealt with. He‘s a former Marine sniper with PTSD and she‘s on the run from an abusive ex boyfriend. Lots going on, but it‘s well written snd had me turning the pages.

@sebrittainclark I‘ve got my #Bestof2020 gifts all ready to unwrap. Not sure when I‘ll get to them tomorrow—I‘m working during the day but I might be able to unwrap before I go in since I‘m sure I‘ll be awake annoyingly early. I find it unlikely I‘ll make it to midnight to unwrap as soon as it‘s 2021. Cute wrapping paper! @candority

candority I love that wrapping paper! Can't wait to see what you get when you have a chance to open everything! 11mo

I‘m back from the first dose! Didn‘t even feel it, they make you stay 15 minutes afterwards and the room was way overheated and we are having a lot of snow coming down right now so it was a cold snd white knuckle drive to snd from the hospital. I can hardly wait for the freezing rain to arrive to make tomorrow mornings drive a skating g rink. But so far so good! I‘ll keep you all posted.

#NewYearWhoDis out of the 10 books listed these are what I‘m starting with. I did read Where The Lost Wander last year and so will not reread it (although it was really good) but I‘m going to start with these 6 and if I have time read the other 3. Thanks for the list @BayouGirl85 and for organizing a great challenge! @monalyisha

BayouGirl85 😁 11mo
monalyisha Exciting! I‘ll be reading the Matt Haig, too. 😊 11mo
CocoReads I received it in a Once Upon a book club box, maybe November‘s? Shipping this year has been wonky and I can‘t keep track. At any rate, I get books faster than I can read them and one of my goals for 2021 is to catch up on subscription boxes so that‘ll be one down! 11mo
