This book is truly amazing, I love everything about it, the plot, the politics, the characters, and it comes with a beautiful space map at the front.

And I've been sucked in to another series. This started a little cliche for me but quickly turned from it. The action, political intrigue, and character development made for a page turning thrill ride. Humanity is threatened and it's up to an idealistic ship captain and his crew to bring the threat to an end. I agree with George R R Martin. This is interplanetary adventure as it should be written. 5🌟
Wasn‘t sure how I‘d like this book, as space sci-fi is iffy for me, but I can not put this book down. It hooked me from the first sentence. I hear the show is great. I‘ll have to check it out after reading this.

Gonna roll the dice. It's on my April #bookspin list. Maybe I'll get a head start if the right number is pulled.😁
Started the Expanse series today with Leviathan Wakes. So far so good.
Apparently, I've made a commitment to read and/or collect another series.
Definite pick. The authors state that they wanted to created a space opera that focused on what could happen in between now and when humans are truly roaming the galaxy. I like how this reflected in the technology. The characters were enjoyable and some of them grew on me as the book went on. There were many aspects of the plot that I was not expecting. I had a hard time after about 400 pages with finishing it just because it seemed a bit long.
After watching the final episode of The Expanse season 6, I felt compelled to reread the first book. It was interesting to spot the small differences between the book and the TV adaptation.
My dilemma: read the recently published book 9 to find out how the series ends or reread books 2 through 8 first?
Second book finished for #JoyousJanuary. @Andrew65

I had been on hold for this one forever, ever since binging The Expanse earlier in the year. Part detective story, part raggedy-crew-of-misfits-in-space, part interplanetary war. A great start to the series, and I will definitely keep reading.
OMG! So I made my cousin come with me to Barnes & Noble today because I had a few holiday gift cards to use! 😁 (I am especially thankful to you, Scott! THANK YOU! @vivastory ) It definitely would have made more sense to wait until after I got home so that my suitcase wouldn't be extra full...but I couldn't resist! 😂 B&N IS HAVING A 50% OFF SALE ON ALL HARDCOVERS! OMG! So most of these books I got for half off! 😲💕📚 #bookhaul

This took awhile to read but I really loved it! A wild ride. On to the next book
I got boosted and I feel crappy but happy to have protection. Taking tomorrow off to rest and hopefully I don‘t feel too crappy and I can read at least a little.
I have read mostly YA sci fi, so was really curious about this series. A lot denser to get into but really well done, it reminds me of the illuminae files (but I like those better, who knows, I must be YA at heart). I definitely enjoy a good spaceship/mystery virus/crazy corporation romp so I‘ll be continuing with this series, for sure. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
4✨ I‘ve seen bits and pieces of the show and realized it had been on my list for a long time. My husband loves this show so he bought me the entire series to officially watch it with him. I love the plot line. It took me a while to get into though. By the end I‘m glad I didn‘t watch too much to spoil it for myself.
Omg, I NEED it! It's so pretty. 🥺

At the end of day8 of #AwesomeAugust #readathon I only managed a few hours of Bk6, this chunkster of a SciFi novel, as I‘ve done my elbow again finishing my scarf so holding books is difficult. I‘m still pleased with my progress this ‘thon, I‘ve almost hit all my goals so🙌Still in lockdown here as cases skyrocket, now the whole state has joined us in Sydney. When is it gonna end? I‘m lucky I‘m a reader who also does craft, otherwise I‘d be 🤪!
This was a reread for me, but in audio format this time. I thought the narrator was quite good, he didn't do a lot of different voices but I found I liked the narration anyway 🤷♀️
Wow. An brisk read that manages to include everything from interplanetary politics, to vomit zombies, to space battles. I loved every second of it, and can‘t wait to read more of this series.
My husband has been watching the Prime Original Series (and recently finished season 5) of The Expanse. He found out I‘ve had the series on my TBR list since 2017 according to GoodReads and decided I needed the books so he can watch the series again as I finish the books. 🤣
The Scopuli had been taken eight days ago, and Julie Mao finally was ready to be shot.

Hello, my old friend. Rereading this series, because it‘s just that good.
#TBRPile 📚 Jim Holden is an officer on an ice miner that shuttles between the Rings of Saturn and the mining stations of the Asteroid Belt. When he and his crew discover an abandoned ship, they suddenly find themselves in possession of a deadly secret. A secret that someone is willing to kill for, and on an imaginable scale...
Really enjoyed this book, definitely think you should read it if you like sci-fi or if your looking for a book to get into sci-fi with. I watched the TV show first so that may be clouding my judgement but I think the show might be a little better than book, but if the later books are anything like the show I am excited to continue.
I love a good Sci-Fi adventure and this one delivers. Great plot and characters. The world building was brilliant. Very realistic portrayal of what a future among the stars might be like. The political climate and racial divide among the people born in various places in the solar system was hard edged and unromantic. I see why this book won so many awards. Thanks @wanderinglynn for this! 5⭐

"The Scopuli had been taken eight days ago, and Julie Mao was finally ready to be shot."
I've hit a reading wall the past couple of days. I just can't get interested in anything new. So...I'm going back to a favorite. I love these books so so much. I may just listen to the whole series before moving on to something else.
#JumpStart2021 #Day4 #FirstInASeries This is the first book in the SciFi series that the tv show The Expanse is based on. I really like the tv series but the books are so much better. It‘s about a future humanity that is divided between Earthers, Mars & the Belt, in a guerrilla war for years until an organism is unleashed on one of the habitat asteroids. 5⭐️
~A Year In Books - Favorites of 2020~
Day 4: Favorite Book of April:
Leviathan Wakes (The Expanse 1)
Of course, I never want to be disappointed in a book I‘ve chosen. Somehow, I feel especially disappointed when said book is from one of my favorite genres. This was exceedingly long in relation to the number of interesting things presented. I hope this was a daily deal (that I didn‘t spend an Audible credit on it). I won‘t continue with the series.
I *love* the TV series The Expanse and figured it was high time I read the books it was based on. This was the type of book that had me sitting at work, thinking about how much I wanted to go home and read it, despite the fact that I knew what was going to happen! Now I need to read the rest of the series to see whether other favorite characters are as fully developed in the books as they are on the show.
I typically read some of everything but lately I've been trying to decide which genre I prefer more. It might be a tie between fantasy and sci-fi. I knew the Priory book was long, 804 pages, but Leviathan is no slouch at 561 pages. I love the show Expanse, but wanted to see what the books brought to the table. Because we all know the books are usually better. Do you have a favorite genre?

Watching this series during the last weeks with my significant other does count as reading, doesn‘t it❓😉
We just finished season 3 and enjoy the story very much. The last episodes remind me a bit of “Metro 2033”. Anyone else with this association❓
Still uncertain if the books are for me but again I am pondering over buying the audiobooks.
@DaveGreen7777 did you already inhale all 8 books❓
My current time for the #24B4Monday #readathon after a day spent working in my garden. Audiobooks are a wonderful thing aren‘t they? You can still read while getting shit done. My garden was productive today, some very sweet carrots(a little bent but aren‘t we all) & some purple snow peas. One bed is now empty, dug over & topped up with new compost, ready for planting tomorrow hopefully. Time for corn, radish, cucumber, beans & capsicum🌽🥕🥬🍅🥒
Today‘s plans are #audiopainting my bedroom a new colour after replacing a wall due to mould🦠 It was a tomato red feature wall with dark cream on the rest, but a change is as good as a holiday so sky blue with white trim it is💠A lot brighter in here. Continuing my #SciFiSeptember theme for the #SuperSeptemberReadathon I‘ve read this previously but I‘m needing to refresh my memory before starting the 3rd book. What‘s your Saturday like?
#TBRPile Day 27 - I missed yesterday. I went to the pub instead. It had been that kind of day 📚 I really enjoyed The Expanse so hoping this is just as good! Political space opera is my jam
#Loki and I are finishing this big book this morning. #CatsOfLitsy
A perfect blending of story and hard sci-fi. For the full review, please visit http://benjamin-m-weilert.com/index.php/2020/07/15/book-leviathan-wakes-2011/

Book: Leviathan Wakes, James S. A. Corey
Author: Legrand, Claire
TV Show: Lost
Band: Lynyrd Skynyrd
Song: Look Through My Eyes - Phil Collins
“The Space Opera is a genre of science fiction with strongly action-oriented narratives”, Wikipedia says.
Well, so I‘m a weirdo but I didn‘t give a darn for the frame story. It was for the characters, world building and it‘s plausibility that I didn‘t bail. The interesting that hooked me was regularly followed by tedious fillers until the next milestone came.
I‘m curious for the screen adaptation now but I‘m _glad_ this is over. I need a pause.

Still unsure if I‘m fond of it or not. 🤷🏽♀️
But I checked for the other audiobooks of this series – just to be on the safe side. 😉 Don‘t know if I‘d enjoy the sequels in reading but in being read, I might.
But it‘s for sure: It‘s neither a short nor a cheap pleasure.
(If I go for a trial month I might be occupied with listening to the series 24/7, so it might be wise to combine it with being on vacation. 😄)
Thanks for the tag, @DaveGreen7777 😁
#Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView Inform the media, I‘m on time‼️😂
1️⃣ “The Hitchhiker‘s Guide to the Galaxy” – Ev‘vey. single. time. 😊
2️⃣ “Metro 2033” because of the ending I completely had forgotten about.
Rolling the 🎲: @Ruthiella @mhillis @ravenlee @RamsFan1963 @La_Cori – where‘s @Come-read-with-me ❓🤔 Does anybody know❓
😍 That scene where they all sit after having had dinner out of imitation ingredients and discuss that cheese conspiracy. 😍
It‘s those scenes I love this book for. I don‘t fall so much for the vomit 🤮 zombies 🧟♀️ – even if they get credits for originality – and the intrigue I at the moment know of, but for the descriptions of living conditions and their effects on the various “men kinds”.
I buy everything.
Well researched or well imagined.
