The Sun Is Also a Star
The Sun Is Also a Star | Nicola Yoon
Be the first to read the dazzling new novel from Nicola Yoon, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Everything, EverythingNatasha: I’m a girl who believes in science and facts. Not fate. Not destiny. Or dreams that will never come true. I’m definitely not the kind of girl who meets a cute boy on a crowded New York City street and falls in love with him. Not when my family is twelve hours away from being deported to Jamaica. Falling in love with him won’t be my story.Daniel: I’ve always been the good son, the good student, living up to my parents’ high expectations. Never the poet. Or the dreamer. But when I see her, I forget about all that. Something about Natasha makes me think that fate has something much more extraordinary in store—for both of us.The Universe: Every moment in our lives has brought us to this single moment. A million futures lie before us. Which one will come true? Praise for Everything, Everything “[A] fresh, moving debut.” —Entertainment Weekly“Gorgeous and lyrical.” —The New York Times Book Review“Transcends the ordinary.” —Kirkus Reviews, Starred “Powerful, lovely, heart-wrenching.” —New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Niven “Extraordinary.” —#1 New York Times bestselling author Jodi Picoult“Everything, Everything is wonderful, wonderful.” —SLJ, Starred“Will give you butterflies.” —Seventeen “A do-not-miss for fans of John Green and Rainbow Rowell (aka everyone).” —Justine “YA book lovers, your newest obsession is here.”—MTV.com

Weight lost: Big fat zero

Moony Oh wow you're good! I also don't lost weight. Next week the fat will melt! 😎 3w
julesG Wow! Admirable stats! 3w
julesG @Moony It's not fat, it's new muscles. Muscle tissue weighs more than fat. My scales have shown the same weight for 3 weeks, but my trousers are loose, my shirts look better on me - my personal point of reference when I look into the mirror: my collarbones are more visible than 10 weeks ago. Also, I know I've gained strength and balance. 3w
See All 16 Comments
Moony @julesG yes that is true and congratulation! What did you do for it? I don't know if only walking more let my muscles get bigger. 😆 3w
julesG @Moony Light strength training and a bit of yoga, Pilates, cardio. Check darebee.com they have a lot of great training plans. 3w
britt_brooke Nicely done! That you didn‘t lose weight doesn‘t mean things didn‘t shift around. 😉 Keep it up. You‘re doing great!! 3w
wanderinglynn Great first week! 🙌🏻 If I might, I‘d recommend not having weight loss as a goal. There‘s a lot of factors that go into that number on the scale & the scale number going down does not automatically = healthy. I know from my personal experience that when I focused on the scale, I eventually got frustrated & gave up. Focusing on healthy habits is a better strategy. Just a suggestion to think about. 💜 3w
imabusybee @julesG so true 💜 3w
imabusybee @britt_brooke thats true Thanks for the reminder 💜🙌🏼 3w
imabusybee @wanderinglynn you might be right I did have a personal goal maybe I'll leave it behind and just focus on getting heathly💜 3w
imabusybee @julesG Thanks 💜😊 3w
Moony @julesG wow cool thank you :) 3w
wanderinglynn I think that‘s a good plan. Put the scale aside for now and then check at the end of the challenge. I bet you‘ll be amazed how far you go. 👍🏻👍🏻 3w
LibrarianJen I gained 5 pounds this week. If you are drinking extra water it could be water weight. When you are building muscles they retain water. Try concentrating more on how you feel than what the scale says. 3w
imabusybee @LibrarianJen another thing thats true I do feel goood and thats what I want. 💜 3w

It was beautifully tragic ... there was some confusion for me at the end, but still a good read for commuting on the train! I will be purchasing the movie on DVD ❤️

Great commuter book. I am falling in love with every page. It‘s is not serious read, but it‘s heart felt and full of teenage angst. Beautiful blending of worlds and even random small characters. Be prepared to feel ALL the feels when you read this book. There were so many times where I laughed, I cried, I was angry. Any emotion you can think of I felt in this story. The way Nicola Yoon crafts her writing is so sharp and creative. She really knows how to suck you into a story and make you want to keep on reading! Even if you are not a fan of YA or romance, you WILL fall in love with this book!

Even though I‘m sort of taking a break from YA, I‘ve had this on my Kindle for a while and it helps me almost finish #LitsyAtoZ! This is my #Y book. I did like this sweet romance, though a touch pretentious it still is a well written smart #YA. It is #romantsy but no graphic sex scenes.

Imagine meeting someone who could be the love of your life on the worst day of your life? Would you bother to get to know them? Natasha and Daniel have to navigate this precarious situation in this young romance novel. A whirlwind one-day romance that you hope will make it to the next day. I was devastated at the ending.

SW-T I was shook at the ending too. Glad I read the epilogue. 😅 2mo

I dunno man this ending was disappointing. The book kept my interest but the writing style was hard for me. I really liked it at first but then I got too distracted. Overall a good story through.

The one's alright - the story and the writing are pretty good, but I wouldn't say it was outstanding. However I absolutely LOVED it! It was obviously what I needed at the time. I laughed and I cried and I really felt things. I also loved the ending (not the epilogue); it felt real and appropriate. A different version of happily ever after. I know I'll read this again in the future.

Overall I think they did a good job adapting the book to movie. I just feel the book because of all the additional connecting second characters had more heart. I was sad there weren‘t more people in the theaters. I wish I had romantic movies like these growing up and hope they keep making films that represent all love stories❤️

Dragon There were maybe six other people in the Theatre when I saw it Tuesday. Everyone‘s seeing the big budget movies . 😀🐉 2mo
Avidreader25 I really liked the book and I think the movie looks excellent! I will miss the secondary character‘s POVs though. 2mo

This was fast but sweet read that felt timely given the current political climate. I appreciated the overall structure and how it read - specifically the change in perspectives and how everyone and everything seemed to be intertwined. I enjoyed following Natasha and Daniel and watching them grow, both as individuals and as a unit. I felt their inner struggles and was happy to see them resolved, even if not completely, by the end.

It took me a while to pick up 'Everything, Everything'. As a mom, that story made me angry with the mother, while also finding sympathy for her. In return for the emotional rollercoaster that book gave me, I held off reading this one as punishment LOL. I can get on a soapbox about kids and immigration law and just wasn't ready to dive into this one until now. Hallelujah for the epilogue. 3.5☆

I enjoyed the POV changes in this book, not only is the character development great but you also get to know how the main characters changed the lives of a few other characters. I love how their love hit them hard and fast like typical teenagers but had just a little different feel. Its a very sweet story. 4⭐/5

Not for me - too YA and too unbelievable. I couldn‘t invest in the cheesy-romancy story and the one day timeframe was too far-fetched. The multiple narrators were very good but unfortunately didn‘t salvage the book at all for me. Unpopular opinion but no, no, no.
