Linsy So sorry to hear about your Crohn's! It's something I deal with too -- autoimmune stuff is the worst!! I have the hardest time explaining to people why I can't do things and even end up gaslighting myself sometimes. Sending you love! 💕 2d
Andrew65 @Linsy Thanks Linsy. 💕 People who don‘t suffer wouldn‘t understand the debilitating effect this can have and most of it is invisible. Hope you are okay at the moment, sending positive thoughts. 2d

Joining this a bit late but I could use a #readathon to help me out of this reading slump I've been in! 😞 I've started so many books but can't seem to finish any lately.
I have no less than SIX physical books that are due back at the library within the next week that I'd like to finish. I always gravitate to my kindle so I'd like to focus on those instead this week.
Thanks @Andrew65 for hosting! #MarvellousMay

Hi everyone👋I‘m gonna once again attempt to actually finish a book during a readathon. Went to the docs today & officially have post-covid syndrome, so no guarantees on completing goals, but I‘m gonna give it a red hot go! My goals are:
📚Read a damn book!😠
⏱Read for more than 15minutes🙄
🫥Get my reading mojo back before my mind packs it in. Please?🙏
Good luck everyone!

Lizpixie @Andrew65 Thanks lovely. It‘s bloody awful isn‘t it? I‘m really struggling with memory & concentration problems on top of the pain & fatigue. Not sure which is worse honestly. My 32yr old daughter has had covid 3 times & just had a minor heart attack due to Myocarditis due to this horrible disease plus they found a bleed in her brain. It‘s the gift that keeps on giving. Hope you & your wife start feeling better soon🤞 1w

See All 10 Comments
Andrew65 @EadieB Yes we came away on Tuesday for four weeks, had planned longer but my wife needs a follow up blood test following some anomalous readings on the last blood test for kidney function. Had appointment at the clinic on Monday where confirmed it is Crohn‘s disease from the biopsies, so blood tests to assess whether I can be given the drug for Crohn‘s. Still having pains in bowels and 5 weeks into the steroids programme (7 more to go). (edited) 3w
Andrew65 My wife has a telephone appointment next Friday re Kidney results, not exactly rushing it so hoping nothing major. Had a second booster last week due to my more vulnerable COvID status due to medication. Chose perfect time to leave the school environment. 3w
Andrew65 @EadieB How are you and your husband? 3w
EadieB @Andrew65 We are doing fine! Are you still getting the headaches? 3w
Andrew65 @EadieB No thankfully they have passed, but my wife still getting over a sinus infection, which I am putting my headaches down to. 3w

Friday sees the start of the May Day Special #20in4 Readathon.

What better way to round off April‘s reading & make a great start on May‘s reading. Either aim to read 20 chapters, 20 hours or any other number you want to set yourself, or even set your own goal which fits in with your plans over this weekend.

Hope May will herald a better month than April for me and everyone else. April has been ‘interesting‘ and struggled to read consistently.

See All 60 Comments
MaGoose I'll join in. I haven't read consistently during April, either. I need to get back into it during May. I have a stack of books that's about to topple over that I promised to read and review on my blog. I'll be starting out with Solomon's Concubine by S. A. Jewell. And try to finish Book Collecting Now: The Value of Print in a Digital Age by Matthew Budman. 3w
Andrew65 @MaGoose It‘ll be great to have you with us. Hopefully May will be a better reading month for us both. 3w
Bookwormjillk Hope you‘re feeling better @Andrew65 April was slow for me too. I‘m in for this weekend. My work book club has committed to reading an entire book between Saturday and Sunday. Before that though I need to finish my #LMPBC book. My goal is 20 hours! 3w
Lizpixie I‘ll give it a go. April has been my worst reading month in years, pretty much since I joined Litsy! Bloody brain fog from bloody covid. I think the aftermath is worse than the actual onset, in my experience anyway😵‍💫 3w
Andrew65 @Lizpixie Think April has been my worst reading month for a long time, along with when I had COvID last September. Found it took me a good six months to get fully over COvID. Had to rely on a lot of audiobooks at the time. Take it slowly and carefully, improvements do come. 3w
Andrew65 @Bookwormjillk Thanks had to deal with a lot in April, leaving my job and profession (and semi-retiring), my now confirmed Crohn‘s Disease diagnosis and going on steroids, and a bad sinus infection which at times made it very painful to even move my head. Good luck with the Readathon. 3w
BarkingMadRun I‘m definitely in, but I‘ll have to think about my goals. I‘m doing a peloton challenge on the weekend that will take up about 8 hours! 3w
jenniferw88 @Andrew65 I'm put on steroids when my crohn's flares up - be careful as when I have them it affects my blood sugars. I'm diabetic so it's a bit of a vicious circle for me! 3w
TheBookHippie My entire family and extended family have had influenza I‘ve so far escaped if!!! I was just officially diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, am now at school 8-12 only and I agree with @jenniferw88 steroids make my blood sugar climb as well as put extra weight on me. I hope with diagnosis you get the care you need. Wishing you well! I‘ll be catching up all weekend! So behind in my reading!!!! 3w
CocoReads M in although I have tons of things happening this weekend. But I‘ve struggled to read this month. The ups and downs of the bipolar weather have sent my sinuses into overdrive resulting in near constant headaches, the dr cut my diabetes meds in half to help my gut issues but it‘s made it harder to control my sugar so it‘s been rough. 3w
Librarybelle Wishing you a much better May! 3w
Elizabeth2 I‘m so relieved that you‘re feeling better. Hopefully, that trend continues! I‘m away with girlfriends this weekend, so my reading time will be limited. But, I‘m looking forward to getting away for a couple of days! 3w
julesG Glad you're feeling better. I'm definitely in. 3w
Cinfhen Can‘t believe it‘s May!! I‘m sorry to hear you‘re dealing with health issues 😔 3w
OriginalCyn620 I‘m in! I hope May is a better month for you! 💕 3w
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I'm in! Sounds like April was a bust all around. I want to finish 2 in progress to close out the month with a mere 7 books read. It's baseball season & the Mets have actually been fun to watch. Work is getting busier, which is a good problem to have, but longer days mean less reading. I may begin today since I lose time on the weekends. I'm glad you're diagnosed so you can get on with managing your symptoms. Wishing everyone a better May 3w
ravenlee I‘m in for however much I can manage. The past six weeks have been really busy, along with everybody needing something from me all the time! It‘s felt like every time I sit down with a book recently, I get a couple paragraphs in, and then somebody absolutely positively needs me to do/get something right that minute! Makes it hard to get anywhere. 3w
AmyG I hope May is a better month for you. I am going to pass on this weeked. I am getting my covid booster shot and will probably feel crappy all weeknd. 3w
PageShifter I'll join. I got covid two weeks ago and even though it wasn't that bad for me but it still makes me so tired. Let's do this ✌️ 3w
Andrew65 @BarkingMadRun Good luck with the Peloton Challenge.😊 (edited) 3w
Andrew65 @jenniferw88 Thanks for that warning. Had one month at highest dose, now on month 2 of a three month programme at a reduced rate (9 mg last month 6 mg this month). Currently being assessed for a drug for the Crohn‘s. The steroids do seem to have increased my blood pressure. 3w
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie I can relate to being behind with the reading. Hope you are getting the support you need for the Rheumatoid Arthritis and keep away from that flu! Thanks 😊 3w
Andrew65 @CocoReads Can thoroughly sympathise at the moment. Had a really bad bout of headaches linked to sinuses, as has my wife. Hope things improve for you. 😊 (edited) 3w
jenniferw88 @Andrew65 you're not on such a high dose as when I'm put on them (30mg for week 1, then reduce by 5 each week), so 🤞 it shouldn't be such a problem for you. 3w
Andrew65 @jenniferw88 That is a much higher dosage. I hope you are doing okay at the moment. Very much all new to me at the moment. 3w
Andrew65 @Librarybelle Thanks, hope you have a good May too.😊 (edited) 3w
Andrew65 @Elizabeth2 Have a great time away and thanks.😊 (edited) 3w
Andrew65 @julesG Thanks, and great to hear. 😊 3w
Andrew65 @Cinfhen I know, where has the first 4 months gone? Thanks, hopefully things will improve.😊 (edited) 3w
Andrew65 @OriginalCyn620 Thanks, and great to hear. 😊 3w
Andrew65 @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Thanks, sounds like your life is very busy! Good luck with the Readathon 😊 3w
Andrew65 @ravenlee Sounds very hectic, hope things calm down for you and you manage to get some reading in.😊 (edited) 3w
jenniferw88 @Andrew65 I'm currently ok thanks - I think we've finally found a treatment that works for me, though it's very expensive for the NHS! 😂 I only have steroids when my crohn's flares up so not on them at the moment. 3w
Andrew65 @jenniferw88 We certainly pay enough for the NHS so right they should be financing this. 3w
Andrew65 @AmyG Good luck with the booster, I definitely felt crappy for 24 hours after mine last week. Fingers crossed for May. 😊 3w
Andrew65 @PageShifter Take things easy, COvID definitely has a long term effect and can take a long while to fully recover from. Good luck with the Readathon. 😊 (edited) 3w
Allylu I‘m in. The end of April snuck up on me! 3w
jenniferw88 @Andrew65 due to my ❤ transplant I was already using a lot of the NHS's money due to the anti-rejection drugs I take. And it's those same drugs that have given me Crohn's - they're one of the usual treatments for it! 😂😡 3w

#AwesomeApril starts today! I'm planning on reading these two books over the 9 days and maybe a third. I haven't picked my next #ThingsInCommon read yet. @Andrew65

Andrew65 I need to read Nefertiti. 1mo

Time for another monthly #Readathon! For #awesomeapril my goals are:

⏰ Read for 10 hours
📚Finish “The Storied Life of AJ Fickry” (which I am almost finished) and my #doublespin book for April, “To All the Boys I‘ve Loved Before,” and start a third book - whatever suits my mood.

It‘s going to be a busy work week, and I anticipate working longer hours, so I‘m hoping I can get 10 hours of reading in. ❤️📚

Andrew65 Have a great Readathon 😊👍 1mo

I love these choose-your-own-adventure readathons that @Andrew65 hosts each month! For #AwesomeApril, I‘m setting my goal at 1000 pages. I‘ve got a couple of really good books pulled off the stacks for the months plus a long weekend so I think I can make it!

Andrew65 Good luck 😊👍 1mo

My plans for #awesomeapril #readathon are to read the books pictured above. I may work on some others, but that is dependent on what I can finish in the next couple of days.
