As the sun goes down, I‘m starting this one.
As the sun goes down, I‘m starting this one.
It looks beautiful outside but it‘s chilly as all get out so I‘m reading inside. Picking this one back up again. Maybe it‘ll stick this time.
Didn‘t get around to posting my #bookreport and #weeklyforecast last night. Maybe one day I‘ll get through the books still in progress so I can finally get to the books I keep meaning to read. 🤷♀️ @Cinfhen
“With the box in hand, Ingrid chose a desk by the exit, plucked a random book off the nearest shelf and pretended to read it, not realizing the book was in Braille.”
This book has little gems like this scene as the main character and her friend try to execute a heist which are making me chuckle.
A neighbor asked me to go over and love on his wrinkly kitties so they wouldn‘t get lonely while he‘s out of town. I think he‘s got at least two of us going to keep Ollie and Gus company. I bring my book and read with them.
I‘m sick (not covid) and I‘m in a book slump too. Not fair to have both at once! So a cup of tea and a collection of short stories to hopefully knock out both problems.
And because I needed another bookstore visit for soothing after the memorial service (and parking downtown is free on Sundays), I hit Literati afterwards and did more damage to the wallet. 🤪
Had time to waste before a memorial service so I convinced hubby to go to Nicola‘s Books in Ann Arbor. He wondered how much damage I could do in 15 minutes. ::insert evil cackling here::
Not a very good reading week. Busy with other stuff. 🤷♀️ @Cinfhen #bookreport #weeklyforecast
McSweeney‘s is republishing this but I am reading my old mass market Ballantine Books copy (cover price $4.95).
This is a sweet romance about two people who meet during a lengthy traffic jam in a snowstorm and continue to run into each other, connected in many ways they never imagined. It‘s light and fluffy so don‘t expect anything earth shattering but a nice book to spend time reading. In a generic hotel room about to start this one.
Furiously trying to finish this one so I can send it home with my daughter when she leaves tomorrow!
I read not a single book from last month‘s #bookspinbingo, only reading books that fit the free spaces. 😂 So I replaced my #bookspin and #doublespin books because I hope to read them at some point but otherwise my bingo board looks almost identical to last month. @TheAromaofBooks
Sitting in my car waiting for my birthday boy to arrive from work so I can take him to dinner. It‘s his golden birthday so I figured that deserved special stuff from the mama bird. Starting this delicious book in the meantime.
I meant to post this last night but I got tired and forgot. Here‘s the latest #bookreport and #weeklyforecast. @Cinfhen
What a great package for #litsylovesanimals @SeaToSkyes ! Ozzie has already jumped on the counter to foil my plans to dole out the goodies one at a time. Sammy currently doesn‘t care but I know several mice will end up in my bed tonight. 😂Gatsby is happily tossing and squeaking the hedgehog. And I am super excited for my book, gummies, and adorable bag. @ShelleyBooksie @DinoMom
I do try to talk my book club into different sorts of books than its members generally read. This is what I convinced them to read this month (without having read it myself).
Ok, when I saw @jlhammar post the first line of this, I knew I had to get it even though I‘m not a graphic novel reader. My maiden name is Whitaker. My oldest son is named Whitaker. My mother is, of course, Mrs. Whitaker and a close, lifelong friend‘s kids have always called me Mrs. Whitaker too because she always refers to me by my maiden name.
Reading is still taking a backseat to a lot of other stuff but I did finish two this week. I might get back to the two in progress books and who knows, I might even manage to finally start one of the forecasted books. 😂 #bookreport #weeklyforecast @Cinfhen
My oldest came home for Easter and I‘m diving back into the car book I started when a friend was late for lunch the other day.
Check out what just arrived at my door!
I sent off both my #litsylovesanimalsswap and my #litsyrecipeswap this morning. @ShelleyBooksie @DinoMom @BennettBookworm
I‘m full on in a slump at the moment. ::big sigh:: I did get some gardening done, a bunch of walks in, and made a bunch of food for a happy hour/dinner in my driveway so I‘m being productive, just not between the covers. #bookreport #weeklyforecast @Cinfhen
My #litsylovesanimals swap has arrived. Woohoo! I‘m hoping to send mine out tomorrow or Monday at the latest. @DinoMom @ShelleyBooksie @SeaToSkyes
The slump continues to haunt me but I did finish two that I‘d started last month. #bookreport #weeklyforecast @Cinfhen
I worked hard in the yard today (still tons to do) so now I‘m enjoying a fire with a book thanks to the nearly piled logs I hauled to the fire pit.
I am not a musician so we‘ll see if this memoir/densely researched non-fiction speaks to me as Ozzie naps in the background.
Since we‘ve got a new #bookspinbingo board, here‘s my March accomplishment. I did read my #doublespin but not my #bookspin. Maybe I‘ll get to it this month instead. 😉 I really only got a bingo because of the Bree free spaces in a row because as usual, I read far more books not on the board than I had free spaces for. LOL! @TheAromaofBooks
I wanted to love this one but it was so slow, choppy, and emotionally remote that it was just okay. The narrator spends so much time paralyzed and unable to make a decision that it made me wish for something, anything to happen. The writing redeems the stultification somewhat. I like book covers as much as the next person but I think I‘ve only bought one book for the cover. At least until today when I had to have this book because I L.O.V.E. this cover.
I‘m going to go into this month with a completely clean slate and use 20 books I haven‘t listed before. We‘ll see how I do. I do think it‘s a pretty good, diverse selection of reads. #bookspin #doublespin #bookspinbingo @TheAromaofBooks
I‘ve been in a slump most of the week but did manage to finish two books I quite enjoyed. I need to get through Cloud Cuckoo Land for book club by Thursday so I‘m hoping to bust out of the slump sooner rather than later. #bookreport #weeklyforecast @Cinfhen
I‘m a huge cheese lover so there was no way I could pass up a title like this on my pilgrimage to the local used bookstore. It‘s a romance. Sure hope it‘s not a cheesy one! (A groaner, I know but I couldn‘t resist.)
Gatsby and I are enjoying sitting outside on this lovely spring day.
A pretty decent week of reading this week, two books on the go, and a trio of potentials for the coming week if/when I manage to finish the in progress group. I really loved Love & Saffron. Mushroom Planet was a sweet taste of nostalgia. Count was well-written but didn‘t entirely engage me. And Shady tried to be super quirky and ended up just fine. #bookreport #weeklyforecast @Cinfhen
Look what I found at a used bookstore. It‘s making me feel like a kid again!
Reading this charming little book with Ozzie cat.
This one has been on the shelf forever. Now‘s it‘s time. Gatsby is so unexcited she‘s snoozing rather than paying attention to me trying to get a picture.
This is two weeks‘ worth but a good number off the tbr stacks. I doubt I‘ll get to all five of my possibles this week but a girl can always hope, right? #bookreport #weeklyforecast @Cinfhen
I hit send on a big project and although I still have a lot more work to do, I‘m going to take a minute or two for myself and start this one.
An interesting look at crafting as a way to calm a busy mind and to practice self care, this memoir is a nice read even if, like me, you have no idea who Sutton Foster is. Full review at http://booknaround.blogspot.com/2021/12/review-hooked-by-sutton-foster.html
A cute rom-com set in the Indian American community, the main characters are a warm, loving recruiter and a hard-edged corporate downsizer. Bollywood references, arranged marriages, and delectable food abound. This is cute, not quite enemies to lovers but close. My brain needs a break from all the romance I‘ve been reading lately so I‘m picking this one up.
I was waiting for a phone call to happen and needed something light and easy to put down when it came in and easy to pick back up again when it ended so I started this gift from #litsylove.
Here‘s my final #bookspinbingo board from February. In defiance of my usual way of reading, I actually got two bingos. Normally I act like bingos are hot lava and I never come near them. LOL! I also read both my #bookspin and #doublebookspin. Not sure what came over me! Hope this next month is even better. @TheAromaofBooks
March is my birthday month so my March #bookspin, #doublebookspin, and #bookspinbingo list is made up of a lot of books that have been gifted to me by fellow Littens over the years. There are few other randoms in here too though. @TheAromaofBooks
