I have FINALLY stopped biting my nails! It‘s been about a month now!
It takes 21 days to break a habit! I broke the hardest one I have!! 😃😃
They don‘t look that long in the picture, but in person they are SO long!

FINALLY starting this beauty!! I‘ve only been waiting since it was released to start it! 😍
I absolutely loved The Handmaid‘s Tale so this should be interesting!
I started the series before reading The Handmaid‘s Tale, not thinking I would enjoy it.
I liked it so much I stopped at the third episode and started the book!
I‘m on Season 2 now. I wonder if it will relate to this book?! 😱

marleed I binged all 3 seasons back to back before I read the book. And yes, I think the sequel respects both the original book and the adapted series. I‘m thrilled that Ms Atwood at 80 was able to revisit a story she created in her 40s. I can‘t help but wonder how I‘d complete a story had 35 years of living passed. 5d

marleed @Alora I think of that line from the book, Angle of Repose where you look at life as a Doppler Effect. For most of a life, life is coming at you - and it is thunderously loud and blows you over. And then, it passes and you are left with quiet and stillness. She wrote this story on both sides of her Doppler Effect. 5d

This was my very first read by King. It definitely won‘t be my last!
The Institute kept me wanting to read more the entire book!

It was a bit slow throughout, however the build up was totally worth it!
I really hope they turn this book into a movie!

This was my first read by him @LoverOfLearning , it was a long one! Lol longest book I‘ve read. Took me 19 hours to read it all, but I was reading slow to enjoy it. 5d

Rachel.Rencher @Alora 11/22/63 is my absolute favorite. I love Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Shining, & Full Dark No Stars is a great collection. Misery was way too gruesome for me, Cujo was okay I thought but not very scary, and the Gunslinger series was written while he was still a drug addict I'm pretty sure, and it shows. 🤣 5d

MrBook 😁👏🏻🥳 Litsy‘s resident Stephen King expert is @HotMessJess . My first SK book was “The Eyes of the Dragon” read when I was ~12. My favorite is “It”, but that‘s a cranium-cracker 😆🙈. Also thoroughly enjoyed “11/22/63”, “Needful Things”, and “Salem‘s Lot”. “Pet Sematary” is very good. Keep in mind, nearly all of his books take place in the same “universe”, so as you read more, you find more Easter eggs. 😁. @LoverOfLearning @Alora (edited) 5d

Alora @Tianarose Its a fly fishing lure that says Hold Fast. It‘s a tribute for my dad who passed away a few years ago. The house I‘m renting now doesn‘t have a bathtub, so I have to go to my moms every time I want to take a bath. I miss it soooo much. My lease is up soon and I will NEVER get another place without a bathtub lol. 6d

Clwojick Just a 1 year course at my community college for Hospital Ward Clerk. It‘s been a lot harder than I was expecting though. It seems like it‘s basically 1st year nursing. Classes like Pharmacology, Surgical Procedures, Medical Terminology, Medical Tests, Medical Keyboarding, etc. 6d

Alora @Clwojick Ohhh man that sounds tough! I‘ve heard that as well that medical receptionist jobs require a lot of medical knowledge and terminology. I‘m not good at biology. I‘m taking a Human Resources Management program right now. I also have my BA in Psych. 6d

Clwojick I‘ve always wanted to take some pouch classes, but I have to get through these one first! 😅 I‘m certainly happy to be done, come december! Here‘s to hoping my exams go well! I‘m walking in to both of my exams with a 95% but my exams are worth 40% of my total grade so I‘m going to be doing some mad crunching! 6d

Alora @Enchanted_Bibliophile Yes I‘ve heard I should try Firestarter! I know nothing about that book too whoch I like. I‘ve seen the Carrie movie. And a lot of his others. I don‘t really like reading books if I‘ve seen the movie already. Maybe I‘ll make an exception for him haha. I just find it boring and I already know the plot. Or check in with @Andrew65 , as he is currently doing at least one read along group. I know there are others that also do them. Another one to check would be @alwaysbeenaloverofbooks , as she also does them, but I‘ve no clue what her schedule is. 1w

Andrew65 Because of having to get to work I didn‘t finish posting I also very strongly recommend @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks and @TheBookHippie‘s #BOTMBuddyRead. Misty and Christine are two of the greatest people you could wish to meet and do sensational buddy reads. They split books into four sections and post questions each Sunday. I have read some fabulous books with them just frustrated not joined n much recently due to life happening! 👇 1w

Andrew65 @Alora With my buddy reads I try to emulate their great work. My commitments also get caught up as I run two Group Reads a month on Librarything - Mystery and Suspense Books and cohost the Monthly #24B4Monday Readathons. (edited) 1w

Andrew65 I can also very strongly recommend @EadieB @Tove_Reads @gradcat and @Crazeedi , more great people to follow. The five of us read a few books a month together but on a very informal basis with people popping in or out as they want to. This year we have read the Maeve Kerrigan Series by Jane Casey, the Jack Caffery Series by Mo Hayder and the Sean Duffy Series by Adrian McKinty together. Andrew65 In 2020 we are targeting three Nordic authors we want to read together. In simple terms the more you get involved in these things on Litsy as @MrBook says the more you get out of it. And you must follow my ‘brother from another mother‘ MrBook, Jason is the million dollar man at the moment! Hands down one of my favourite books this year!

I love how it reflects on my favourite band‘s love story - Fleetwood Mac.
I also love the style of the book and how it was written like an oral history.
This was very unique and gave the book such a different feel!

Also, can we just talk about that kit kat caramel filled donut?! 🍩😍🙌🏼

jillrhudy I read Carrie a hundred thousand years ago, read “The Stand“ because it's my husband's favorite and stayed up until 3 a.m. to finish, and have read some of King's short fiction and that's honestly it for me. But I felt that the description of this book was uniquely appealing and might still read it! Even though I am a wimp. 1mo

Alora @jillrhudy I‘m just over 100 pages in and loving it! Makes me excited to read more of his books. It‘s not “scary” yet really, but very intriguing! Very unique....creepy. Definitely going to read The Shining and Doctor Sleep. I‘ve seen a lot of the movies, and I have a weird pet peeve that I don‘t really like reading a book if I‘ve already seen the movie. I know books are way better...but it just seems like I‘m reading a story I already know. 1mo

JoyBlue I read The Shining as a teen and refused to read any more of his books for a long time. But, somehow, someone convinced me to read Joyland, and someone else suggested The Eyes of the Dragon, and then I chose to read The Institute, and I gave each of those ⭐⭐ ⭐ ⭐ (which is unusual for me—I'm pretty stingy with stars!). So, now I'm a selective Stephen King fan. 😉 4w

Loved this plot & how each chapter is a new character!

I was pretty shocked at the end. It took a slight turn that I was not quite expecting. I caught myself gasping out loud in suspense!

I would definitely recommend this book, especially with online dating being so prevalent in today‘s society. It was a page turner!

NomiReads I‘ve never been able to find bubble baths relaxing- not sure why! I like to read on the couch or in bed mostly, but today I spent a good chunk of time reading on the front porch with a blanket and slippers + my dog. It was 11 degrees but sunny, and very cozy! 1mo
