#MurderTrending | Gretchen McNeil
post image

#BookReport Finished 3 of 7!
Lamb is a new friend's favorite, so read it on her recommendation: good and clever in bits, but pretty racist and sexist in others.
Chronicles of Avonlea: comforting; just as I remember it.
#murdertrending: a little over the edge in violence for me, but a quick read that I couldn't put down.
The Anthropocene Reviewed, Ace of Spades and Other Words for Home all remain in progress.
Didn't get to start Grown.
@Cinfhen

Cinfhen I love your word choice …comforting!!! Not many books fall under that category anymore 2w

Goals for #NovelNovember:
1. Finish two of the books I've been partway through for quite awhile: Ace of Shades (finally!) and Other Words for Home.
2. Keep up with the #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead of Further Chronicles of Avonlea
3. Listen to some of The Anthropocene Reviewed each day (already done for today!).
4. Write and submit at least 5 reviews for my current committee.
5. Review 5 storytime picture books on Goodreads.

#WeeklyForecast time!
🎧Chronicles of Avonlea is for the #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead with a story a day.
🎧 Only 30 min left of Lamb, so when that's done it's on to The Anthropocene Reviewed.
💻Halfway through Other Words for Home as an ebook via hoopla. After that, #murdertrending is up next.
📘Print is a struggle for me these pandemic days, so Ace of Shades has been in progress forever. If I finally finish it this week, it's on to Grown.
@Cinfhen

Cinfhen Can‘t wait to hear your thoughts on this one - I just read it in print ( wonderful) but I‘m thinking audio will be EVEN BETTER 3w
Bkwrm7 @Cinfhen I was very unsure when I was listening to the intro if this was going to be my thing at all, but I'm several essays in and adoring it. So many interesting facts about such a wide variety of things all mixed with Green's unique viewpoint! Just great. 2w

2. I use the BookRiot spreadsheet, a bare bones list in the notes on my phone, Goodreads, and Litsy, but my Owlcrate Reading Journal is my favorite because it's so pretty. 😁
3. Lamb was actually the last as I tried to see how it linked to other Christopher Moore books.

And here's my September #BookSpinBingo board. The first Unicorn Rescue Society book is my #BookSpin - it's on one of my state's reader's choice lists so it will be good to cross that off. #DoubleSpin is Wench - part of my most recent #bookhaul and one I think I'm going to love. That line second from the bottom is looking promising for a Bingo since two are already in process and one is finished - maybe this will be my month! @TheAromaofBooks

Finally posting my #BookSpinBingo results. 6 books in Aug - no #BookSpin, but read and greatly enjoyed my #DoubleSpin City of Ghosts! Middle grade spooky is about the right level of spooky for me; the narration and humor were positives. Might finish the trilogy someday, but I'm often bad about that. Also listened to Emily of New Moon and Keep This to Yourself. Read Dial A for Aunties, Framed! and my free space was Headliners.

2021 is shaping up to be a year I definitely won't forget. On my way home from work last Wed night, another driver ran a red light hitting the back passenger side of my car and spinning me at least 180 degrees. I am incredibly lucky to have walked away with bruises and aches; the ER doc said I should heal up in a couple weeks although I should keep an eye on how I feel. Treated myself to some retail therapy at my local BN's moving sale yesterday.

My library started a really cool thing this year that it turns out I love - a Silent Reading Club! Everyone gets together via Zoom, reads for an hour and then talks about their reads for 10 minutes. Made it through a good chunk of A Stranger in Town tonight - was going to split my time but Rockton always sucks me right in! Sadly they are stopping it after this month and I can't make the rest of the May dates so tonight was my last one. 😥

Finished my first #BookSpin title of the year! This was February's #BookSpin and it was a fun, soapy, drama and puzzle-filled mystery. The sequel comes out this fall and I only wish it was coming sooner. The whole thing felt like it was perfect for a TV series adaptation so wasn't surprised to hear that Amazon Prime has picked it up for development. Not my favorite of Barnes' work in the end, but still great!

Read this for the new romance book club at my library and, look. I see how Cabot is playing with vampire tropes and found some of that amusing, but, friends - This? This is not a romance. There is no Happy Ever After at the end or even a Happy For Now. I don't know if the two books were intended to be one originally (The 2nd book ends with HFN at least)? Or if the whole thing was supposed to be a trilogy? But, nope. Not a romance on its own.

Apple Orchard
Soup
Cinnamon Dolce (but I don't do coffee)
Bonfires
Apple Pie
But really pretty much all of these things sound lovely! Except pumpkin pie - that I do not care for at all. It's a texture thing.

I've been so busy the past couple days I haven't even been able to check Litsy so catching up on tags today!
1. Slasher Girls & Monster Boys: Deliciously terrifying YA short stories
2. Stories
3. 2005 - a couple people I loved were still alive then and I'd be willing to roll the dice on changing the past to see if it improves the present.

Anne of Green Gables | L. M. Montgomery

We may be getting a frost tonight so my parents cut these beautiful flowers from their garden and brought them by. They seem perfect for this 4th chapter where Anne starts to connect with the nature surrounding Green Gables, altbough she tries to stop herself from getting too attached. #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead

Pageturner1 Oh my gosh do pretty!! I would live to grow flowers like that. I really try but my thumb isn‘t green. 14mo
Bkwrm7 @Pageturner1 It is to my mother's continuing disappointment that I have very little interest in gardening, although I greatly enjoy the results of all the hard work she and my dad put into theirs! 14mo
