Finally got my May #BookSpinBingo board put together! Just finished Good Girl, Bad Blood today to knock out my first square. The weather is gorgeous finally and I got some great outdoor reading time in. Listening to Jane of Lantern Hill and We Are Not Free currently. Next planned print read is I Believe in a Thing Called Love, then on to my #BookSpin and #DoubleSpin selections.

I think they are both on the lighter side which will be nice since the weather here this Spring has been pretty miserable. Just need to get my Bingo card setup now.

Started Jane of Lantern Hill today for this month's #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead - only 2 chapters in, but already I'm enjoying this more than Kilmeny. I definitely don't remember this one very well although I vaguely maybe recall a TV series or movie adaptation that I watched when I read this as a child?

Speaking of reporting back, here's a very belated look at how my February #BookSpinBingo board turned out. Hit all five free spaces and 2 others, but didn't get to either my #BookSpin or my #DoubleSpin yet. March and April seem to have just wooshed by - I didn't even get to make lists for those! Here's hoping for more Litsy time in May.

3. Technically, I think it was Red(Taylor‘s Version) on hoopla, but book wise Being Mary Bennet and Elatsoe are both library checkouts! (And that‘s all if you don‘t count the story time books I checked out at work yesterday for Monday‘s Music and Movement.)

#WeeklyForecast time! The Project is next up in print and then I'll work my way down this stack as far as I can get. On audio, I'm still working on Ace of Spades and The Golden Road. I also have Raybearer and Felix Ever After checked out as ebooks. No way I will get through all of these, but it's a good list to look forward to and I've got Silent Reading Club tomorrow night to give me a boost.

Got my February #BookSpinBingo board all setup finally! My #BookSpin is Love, Hate, and Other Filters (a reread) and my #DoubleSpin is Clap When You Land. I've already knocked out 3 free spaces with books that were on my January board, but that I finished in early Feb. Waiting to see what else I get read before I officially place them though! Planning to read The Project next (Jan #DoubleSpin) so that will be a free space, too.

Made it through 3 comics and 1 novel in print this week which feels great - especially since I enjoyed them all! Also made progress on Ace of Spades and The Golden Road on audio, but nowhere near being done on either of those. All 4 finished are picks; Mooncakes is a sweet fantasy romance, I Was Their American Dream is a memoir, Flamer and The Black Kids are both realistic historical fiction set in the 1990s (sigh, I am old).

My January #BookSpinBingo results - better than I do some months, but no Bingos. The Free Space was The Story Girl and I did get my #BookSpin choice read! Jeff Zentner writes beautifully about grief, so I cried most of the way through In the Wild Light, but I loved it nonetheless. My only quibble is that the characters are maybe slightly too perfect. Hoping to get The Project (my #DoubleSpin) read for a Feb free space.

My #WeeklyForecast - some repeats from last week, but I've already got a good start since I finished Flamer today! (It was great.) Starting The Black Kids, then it will be on to the two comics which are re-reads. Planning to hit The Project, my January #DoubleSpin after that. Not pictured are my audiobooks: in progress Ace of Spades (33%) and The Golden Road for #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead

3. My most recent checkout isn't actually a book- it's Red (Taylor's Version) via hoopla. The most recent book I checked out though is The Rice in the Pot Goes Round and Round - a picture book I'm hoping to use for storytime soon!

Pardon the messy table behind my #BreakfastAndABook - great way to spend some of my Saturday morning. A homemade breakfast sandwich, a giant mug of tea and a book that 50 pages in has already had me crying - par for the course for a Jeff Zentner. This Smoked Mango tea has been a delight. Last year for a bit, my library ran a Silent Reading Club: people met on Zoom, read silently for 50 minutes, and then briefly talked about their reading. They discontinued it sadly and I missed it so much that for 2022 I splurged on a paid Zoom account and started my own! It has been so great: the FB group has 70 members and sessions have had from 7 to 18 people attend! It feels so amazing to build this culture of reading with my friends. ❤

Lamb is a new friend's favorite, so read it on her recommendation: good and clever in bits, but pretty racist and sexist in others.

2021 is shaping up to be a year I definitely won't forget. On my way home from work last Wed night, another driver ran a red light hitting the back passenger side of my car and spinning me at least 180 degrees. I am incredibly lucky to have walked away with bruises and aches; the ER doc said I should heal up in a couple weeks although I should keep an eye on how I feel.
