This was an excellent and thought provoking dystopian novel about a plague that ravishes the male population and really asks the question, what does society look like with a reduced number of men

I swear @NeedsMoreBooks Got me on a food memoir kick, when she told me I should read Buttermilk Graffiti by Edward Lee. Which was excellent in it's own right, this read was also excellent!

What a beautiful memoir of Stanley Tucci's life and the food that has come to define his life and career. Its excellent as an audiobook and I hope, he records.other audiobooks, I love his voice and his dry but witty humor.

This was an enjoyable debut by this author, a little.slow at times, however the ending was a surprise, I didn't see coming, you think you know what will happen...and she gives that to you... But then she piles on the intrigue and you are left surprised and impressed.

I am picking up some awful books lately, which books do you recommend for the following categories:

1.) Historical fiction
2.) Dystopian Fiction
3.) Sci Fi
4.). Romance
5.) Mystery/Horror

Bonus if the book is excellent on Audio

This was an excellent YA Queer Romance novel that explore issues of bigotry, racism and anti Chinese Sentiment. The story was captivating and I loved the narrator Emily Zeller Woo. She really brought the whole story to life. I also loved the historical portion at the end that put the whole story in context.

Queer: A Graphic History | Meg-John Barker
Pickpick

This graphic novel was an indepth look at Queer Theory and how it seems to discuss and dive into various Social topics surrounding queer culture, activism etc. The title is a little misleading as I thought I was getting a history of what it means to be Queer. Overall, this is a well done and depth look at Queer Theory that makes it accessible to the masses.

What a powerful memoir of Yusef Salaam about his experience in the exonerated five. how his faith & his community played a vital role in his becoming a healthy and strong person. Throughout the book he discusses how white supremacy systems worked towards putting him away and how those systems must be dismantled not just for black and brown people but for all people to ensure our humanity is kept in tact. Powerful story. Highly recommend!

This story in Audio, was hard to.follow and didn't keep my engaged. I loved Gideon and Cutter and thought that if the story was just the two of them, it might have been a decent story. I didn't like the Octavia character at all and found the whole.story hard to follow. I wasn't engaged in the mystery at all.

marleed I read this story many books so the plot was lost in the many deep dark cavernous tunnels of my brain. But I binged the series and as each scene played I fully recalled what would unfold so I think the limited series followed the book closely. I liked both, but yea definitely some poor MC choices. 2mo
5feet.of.fury I just finished the show! Pretty spot on from the book. I can see why people (with the book and show) dislike Andi, but I think it makes sense in context of her trying to figure out what is happening. I liked it, didn‘t love it. 2mo

The History of Science Fiction | Xavier Dollo, Djibril Morissette-Phan
Pickpick

This was a great overview of the history of science fiction, though I was upset that Octavia E Butler wasn't given a section within the book to talk about her and Ursula K Le Guine and their contributions, women were only really mentioned as an after thought... And really this book is more of a "White Person" History of Science Fiction. I hope a version that focuses on the contributions of POC is created.

CuriousG Can you even discuss science fiction without talking about Octavia Butler?! 3mo

Wow! What a powerful graphic novel about Loneliness within the American Culture. Such a depth of understanding and an eye opening understanding of how we are all lonely at various points in our life. I love graphic novels as a format for non fiction. They really help explain the topic in smaller bits to think on. The illustrations also help to push the story further. What a great format.
