I have 4 friends playing pickleball in the park. Until I'm needed to give someone a break, I'll be in my hammock chair reading on my phone. Fingers crossed, I can finish the first week's section today.

Disclaimer: The hand & phone pictured is not real. I needed the phone to take the picture. I did NOT bring my Kindle because I'm an idiot.

@dabbe I went through the list rather quickly, but work got in the way of me sharing.

I've seen 68 of the 100 movies, and these are my Top 5:

Porky's (watched way too young and still going)
Look Who's Talking
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Twins
The Goonies

They're all so quotable. I was born in 1979, so I leaned more to the comedies than those with a more serious tone.

Coming in late with my list, but I've got loads of restraint and haven't peeked at the numbers. I might wish I did. Who knows?! 🤣 May was quite possibly my worst reading month in years, but I'm optimistic that June can't get any worse.

I'm ready for book four of The Cemetery of Forgotten Books, but I'm also not ready to read Carlos Ruiz Zafon's final novel. After this, all I'll have left to explore for the first time is a collection of short stories set in this world and one more unrelated YA book.
Traveling solo to San Antonio, TX for work while nursing the tail end of a cold is a great time to make some headway.
#foodandlit #spain

emz711 It's not his final novel! This one is. Labyrinth may be my favorite though 1mo
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @emz711 Yes, that's the collection of stories I have, along with this YA novel. 1mo
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @emz711 I only read about 25 pages of Labyrinth so far, but I've highlighted so many of Fermin's words of wisdom! 🤣 He is quite possibly my favorite literary character ever. 1mo

I am on a MUCH needed vacation in Arizona. We spent a couple of days visiting Flagstaff & Sedona. We visited this delightful shop in Flagstaff. I have too many books (I know, I know, but I truly have too many), so I treated myself to some cards & postcards to send out some Litsy Love instead. They feature lots of staff picks, some local artist gifts, and a few store specific tote bags. I recommend popping in if you find yourself in town.

Hopefully, I can get the dog to stop barking for 30 minutes of quiet so I can start on this one today. Nothing is wrong with him. He just likes to complain when his meatball stash runs out and he has to eat Fresh Pet & kibble like a peasant.

#AnUnfortunateReadalong

vlwelser That's hilarious. About the dog. Not the lack of quiet time. That would drive me insane. 5mo
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @vlwelser On paper, I should get lots of reading time. I live with my guy & my dog and have a job. That's it. But I'm pretty sure the dog needs to bark at me (just me) for at least 2 hours a day, so he schedules that for the time between when i get home & my guy gets home. My guy needs to watch about 5 hours of TV at home and likes me to watch with him. I sometimes "work late" to enjoy the peace of a quiet office. ? 5mo

As I read, I'm picturing my great-grandmother or my (still living) 4'10", 88 year old grandmother, who everyone adores, acting up like this, and it makes these stories that much better.

A little late to #Sweden for #foodandlit month, but better late than pregnant. Never! It's better late than never! ?

These books take up quite a bit of space. I'm aiming to read the entire 13-book series this year. (Unless I hate them and just give them all away at once.) My neighbor's daughter is 9 or 10 years old & a little dark. My thought is to see if she's interested in reading them after me so I have a plan of release, and maybe she'll keep me motivated.

February's best book is a fictionalized account of the Mirabal sisters, who were kicking ass & taking names, so to speak, during the Trujillo dictatorship in the Dominican Republic. I listened to the audiobook, and it did a great job of giving each sister her own voice.

Kicked off the #24in4 by finishing the final 60 pages of this book. The overall story of Anna is compelling. However, this book, written by a one-time (for a short time) former friend of Anna's, is drawn out. Anna conned Williams into using personal & business credit cards to pay for a trip. I don't feel much sympathy for Williams as a victim. She mentioned friends and a support system, a good job, NYC life, but she seems desperate for Anna's

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick friendship and approval. I was hoping for some more inside information about how Anna pulled off her long game con, but I got a lot of Annie Liebowitz name dropping. Oh well. The sky is dark, the twinkle lights are on, and Watson is warming my legs. @Andrew65 #sundaybuddyread @TheBookHippie 6mo

?Movies, yes. I love gory ones, like Hostel and Would You Rather. Creepy can be fun, but I need action. For books, I enjoy a sumputous, creepy setting & and mystery over "horror." They haven't scared me yet. Poltergeist & Exorcisms are NOT my jam. ?

#sundaybuddyread @TheBookHippie

I'm perpetually behind this year, but I'm hopeful that my 2024 schedule will be a little more accommodating to reading.

vlwelser How did you wait long enough to take a picture? I think mine was open before I even got back it the house. 9mo
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @vlwelser ? I wanted to tear it open in the lobby of my building, but managed to restrain myself long enough to photograph it, crop the "I'm so excited" sticker, make the graphic, and get puppy love from being out for a couple hours. Sometimes, I amaze myself. 9mo

Thanks for the tag, @Texreader

1. Evelyn Hugo
2. Gert from the I Hate Fairyland series
3. Sarah Weston from the City of Dark Magic duology

I tried to pick a few who weren't already mentioned.

dabbe You sure did! I LOVE Evelyn Hugo! And you've given me two more series to add to my TBR! 🤩 Thanks for playing! 💜🧡💛 9mo
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @dabbe City of Dark Magic is quirky and fun. It's just two books so it won't take long to get through them. I Hate Fairyland it's a short graphic novel series and cracks me up. Imagine growing up, but being stuck in a child's body for years?! 9mo
dabbe @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick OOH, they both sound excellent! 🤗 9mo
