A four-year-old Mi‘kmaq girl goes missing from the blueberry fields of Maine, sparking a tragic mystery that haunts the survivors, unravels a community, and remains unsolved for nearly fifty years.

EadieB July 1962. A Mi‘kmaq family from Nova Scotia arrives in Maine to pick blueberries for the summer. Weeks later, four-year-old Ruthie, the family‘s youngest child, vanishes. She is last seen by her six-year-old brother, Joe, sitting on a favorite rock at the edge of a berry field. Joe will remain distraught by his sister‘s disappearance for years to come. 4w

In Maine, a young girl named Norma grows up as the only child of an affluent family. Her father is emotionally distant, her mother frustratingly overprotective. Norma is often troubled by recurring dreams and visions that seem more like memories than imagination. As she grows older, Norma slowly comes to realize there is something her parents aren‘t telling her.

EadieB Unwilling to abandon her intuition, she will spend decades trying to uncover this family secret.
I read this book and found it very interesting. Joe and Norma were interchanging narrators. It is a story about the search for truth, the shadow of trauma and the persistence of love across time.

History notes that the ugly feud between J. Edgar Hoover and Martin Luther King, Jr., marked by years of illegal surveillance and the accumulation of secret files, ended on April 4, 1968 when King was assassinated by James Earl Ray. But that may not have been the case.

EadieB Now, fifty years later, former Justice Department agent, Cotton Malone, must reckon with the truth of what really happened that fateful day in Memphis.
This is an excellent book and I found out a lot of interesting facts about Martin Luther King. Steve Berry did a great job putting the information together. I can't wait to read his next book in the series, The Malta Exchange, about the Vatican. Recommended for those who love history.

Fast paced mystery set in 19s. I like the setting and characterisation but the plot was predictable. It didn‘t win as a mystery, but in general it is good. I like two characters in particular Constance Kopp and Sheriff. I am excited to read the next one in this series. Thanks for recommendation @CaitZ 💐

This novel was for me like a cozy mystery in some way. Everything started with the #MayMothers group. All these women were going to have their babies during that month. They support each other but there are secrets. The author said that the idea came from a group she used to attend. One of the babies will disappear and a murder will occur. The group will make their own investigation. I didn‘t see that twist coming. 3.5⭐️
