#7days7covers #covercrush day 1 of 7
Thanks for the tag @GrilledCheeseSamurai !
I love the cover of this Folio Society edition of Treasure Island that @cobwebmoth got for me. This is one of my all time favorite stories. I loved it as a kid, and I still do today. I love a good pirate adventure!
1. I love that most of the Dark-Hunter series is in New Orleans.
2. It was like being in a humid volcano.
3. This one was totally my fault. Once, on @cobwebmoth and my anniversary, we went out for a fun day to enjoy some shopping and a nice dinner together. We ended up at one of the worst Ollies stores ever, and I drove home without taking her out for dinner. Yes, I actually forgot to take my wife to dinner on our anniversary date. (still sorry😢)
Time Travelers weekend always brings out the best variety of costumes at the Renaissance Festival. The Fourth Doctor and Sirius Black were both there this past Sunday. There was an impressive group of Mandalorians there as well.
#ManicMonday time again! @JoScho
1. Sandman. You can't have dream without him.
2. Dreamscape. Classic bad 80s sci-fi.
3. A Nightmare to Remember by Dream Theater. One of my all time favorite bands. Some of the best guitar and drum work that you will ever hear.
I am now a Rainbow Rowell fan for life. I loved this book. Cath and Levi are great. I now understand why people sometimes hug a good book when they finish it. This was a delightful read!
#BookFitnessChallenge week 5 check in.
I had a crazy busy week between work and Renfest. I didn't get very much reading accomplished, but I made good progress on my audio book. I hope my fellow #smallsteppers are doing well.
@wanderinglynn @Laughterhp @hes7 @LapReader @Scochrane26 @Dragonfairykats @krayoncolorz @Catlover23 @Meghan1 @Sresendez12
What did Thor do for those 5 years after the snap, but before Endgame? He went to the local Renfest and got some fish & chips from a tall kilted man.😊
Pumpkinheads just might be the most adorable graphic novel that I've ever read. Rainbow and Faith have created some great, lovable, relatable characters. It is impossible to read this and not love Deja. I now want to work at a mega pumpkin patch in the Fall.
#BFCR3 check in time!
I finished a book, started a new audio book, and read 2 graphic novels. I'm doing ok on my quest to give up soda. The Ohio Renaissance Festival started this weekend, snd @cobwebmoth and I are working out there again. So we'll be getting plenty of exercise on the weekends through October.
#smallsteppers @Laughterhp @hes7 @Scochrane26 @LapReader @Sresendez12 @Meghan1
There's nothing better than grilling dinner in the rain, except audio-grilling in the rain! I'm loving this book so far. Rainbow Rowell has created a wonderful story, and the narrators are great! At least the rain has chased away the sweat bees!😛
I think it's a good sign when you see a rainbow while listening to a Rainbow Rowell book.😃🌈
@MaleficentBookDragon I really enjoyed your #LMPBC selection! American Hippo was a fun Western romp where the constant threat of feral hippo attacks keeps you on edge. The cast was likeable enough, Archie was my favorite. The hippos were great. After reading this you want to give Ruby a hug. If you have ever wondered how an extremely pregnant assassin could saddle a hippo, this is the book for you!
@Avanders @Bklover @BethM
Another week gone already. #BFCR3 week 3 check in time. I had a few good walks this week, and it felt great to be doing some more physical work for a few days. I managed to get some reading time, and got hooked on a new to me comic series. Not a bad week.
#smallsteppers @Laughterhp @hes7 @LapReader @Meghan1 @Sresendez12 @Catlover23 @Scochrane26 @krayoncolorz @Dragonfairykats
Time for another #friyayintro
1. Saga. It is one of the best comic series that I have ever read. Brian K Vaughan is one of the best comic writers in the industry.
2. I want the power of Galactus, but without all the pesky world devouring. I am taking applications for my herald.
4. Barnes and Noble sale!!!
5. Will do!!
Thanks for the tag @Bklover !😊
@Megabooks congrats on the Litsy milestone, and thanks for the generous giveaway opportunity! One of my favorite summer reads is Where is Joe Merchant? Jimmy Buffett has been a favorite of mine for years. His music and books are made for summer. If I win the #25Etsy I'll find some bookish goodies for me or someone else.
This was between a pick and so so for me. The artwork and plot mostly made up for the ok writing. Basically the story starts out that prehistoric sea creatures are still alive, and by then end of volume 5 it goes way off course towards human origins and mankind's survival. The plot was good, the art is great, but I think that the writing held this back from being a great comic.
I like a good mob story, and this did not disappoint. The Kitchen is a well written, bleak and bloody look at Irish mob life in Hell's Kitchen in the 1970s. When Kath, Raven, and Angie's loan shark husbands get sent to prison, they take over the protection and collection racket, and they are very good at what they do. Soon they catch the attention of the mafia. Their fate, and that of Hell's Kitchen hangs in the ballance.
Thanks for the tag @Chrissyreadit ! I think that this would be an enjoyable self care day for me. I would get up real early to go fishing at one of my favorite spots. Nothing clears my head and relaxes me like fishing. Then I would get @cobwebmoth for some coffee and conversation, and a sushi lunch. We could go to a local book store, I could sneak a nap in a convenient hammock, and then a nice river walk and dinner at the Beehive Tavern.
#BFCR3 week 2 check in post.
I was able to start another audio book, start my #LMPBC book, and read 3 graphic novels.
I've been standing instead of sitting at work a lot more, and generally getting more mobile. I took my kids to Kings Island and walked for what felt like 50 miles. 😉
#staycationintimeswap collage of awesomeness #3
@Gissy I am blown away by the generosity and thoughtfulness you have shown me (and @cobwebmoth ) in this swap. Thank you for the lovely card. The Viking ship art print is beautiful! I also love the print of San Juan by a local artist. I'll be framing both of them. The Poe pouch is great as well! This has really brightened my day! I love all of it! You are the swap Queen! Thank you so much!
#staycationintimeswap collage of awesomeness #2
More great books! I've been wanting to read some of these for a while now. The sketch book and drawing set will be put to good use, and I love the Viking print on the journal! I love the design on the tote! I'm definitely going to use that when I'm working at the renaissance festival this fall.
Ok. @Gissy the clock is awesome...really, really awesome! I'm trying to figure out where to hang it now.
#staycationintimeswap collage of awesomeness #1
@Gissy you went above and beyond for this swap! The Viking and Celtic theme was a great choice. I loved the books, snacks, and the awesome Viking warrior mug! My TBR has grown yet again! There was so many great items that a single collage post couldn't even begin to contain the awesomeness!
It's just another #ManicMonday @JoScho
1. Walks and Rambles in Southwestern Ohio is a fantastic hiking and camping guide for my part of Ohio.
2. Cabin in the Woods
3. The Flame in the Flood by Chuck Ragan
Here is my #BFCR3 week 1 check in that I forgot to post yesterday. I would like to get a bit more active, and in the coming weeks that won't be an issue. It's time for another busy week! Let's go team!
@wanderinglynn @Laughterhp @hes7 @LapReader @Sresendez12 @Dragonfairykats @krayoncolorz @Catlover23 @Meghan1 @Scochrane26
I finished my first Vonnegut! I love good satire, and this did not disappoint. I absolutely love the way he writes. Now I can't wait to read Breakfast of Champions.
I loved this series! Maggie Stiefvater has created a fantastic world around Henrietta, Virginia. Dreams were unmade, wasp demons were jerks, and true love died. Everything you could ever want in a good story! 😁
Will Patten did a fantastic job narrating this series. His voices for Calla and Persephone were the best!
@MaleficentBookDragon I received your #LMPBC package yesterday! It's a hippoxtravaganza! I can't wait to read American Hippo! Thanks for the bookmark, toy hippo, zombie mints (not pictured), cow books, and I love the hippo drawing on the box! So is the drawing of the hippo very bad, or is it a drawing of a very bad hippo?
@MaleficentBookDragon @Avanders @Bklover @BethM @suvata
I finally finished my #LMPBC selection the other day. I loved this book. It was written in a way that made they story very believable. I don't want to spoil any plot points for my group, so that's it. Read it, enjoy it, get anxiety from it.
@MaleficentBookDragon @Bklover @Avanders @BethM @suvata
I got to enjoy an audio book filled work road trip yesterday. Giant donuts from an Amish bakery were brought back and devoured. We put the box on our UPS scale. A dozen donuts weighed 4lbs!
(Yes, I know this post follows my fitness goals)
I'm way behind on my Listy posts from the last 2 weeks. You all might be TK421 post spammed today.😉
I changed my goals a little from last time. I'm trying to adapt and find what really works for me. This is the first time I will start a round with no crutches, knee brace, or walking boot!
@LapReader @hes7 @Sresendez12 @Dragonfairykats @krayoncolorz @Catlover23 @Meghan1 @Scochrane26
Another week gone already! #BFCR2 is over, and round 3 starts tomorrow. Here's my week six check in. I was able to get some walking done on my breaks at work this week. @cobwebmoth and I enjoyed a beautiful day and river walk today. I finished an audiobook, and several graphic novels this week. Thanks @wanderinglynn for organizing this!
What a busy week! We had a short trip to Niagara Falls, went to an amusement park, and are working at a festival this weekend. All involved lots of walking in the heat. Between the Niagara trip, and Kings Island I think we did over twelve miles.
I did manage to read a couple graphic novels, and I got a good start on my #LMPBC book.
@wanderinglynn @Laughterhp #smallsteppers
I almost forgot my #BFCR2 check in post for this week. I am loving The Raven Cycle! I am listening to The Raven King now. I managed a few graphic novels as well. It was crazy hot here this week, and while I didn't go for many walks, I did have a bunch of physical labor at work in the heat. I'm totally counting that this week.😊
I missed the official full moon, but if werewolf rules apply then tonight will still work. 🐺
1. I have tried to be closer and more understanding with my family. My wife (@cobwebmoth) and kids are really awesome and supportive people. They deserve me at my best.
2. Self doubt and a general feeling of unworthiness.
@Laughterhp @hes7 @jessinikkip @LapReader @TheDaysGoBy @TheWordJar @ScarletQuill
Here's my #nomakeup #nofilter no sleep no shave selfy for the #BFCR2 photo challenge.
@wanderinglynn you have gotten me to do a photo challenge 2 weeks in a row. That might be a Litsy record for me.😁
Thanks to my #SmallSteppers crew for the encouragement! @laughterhp @jessinikkip @LapReader @hes7 @TheDaysGoBy @TheWordJar @ScarletQuill
It was miserably hot this week, so I didn't get to take my walks this week, but @cobwebmoth and I went to a concert Friday evening. Almost 6 hours on our feet in the heat. It was great! Hawthorne Heights still puts on a great show.
I read 3 graphic novels, and made a bit of progress in my audio book.
@wanderinglynn @Laughterhp @hes7 @jessinikkip @LapReader @TheDaysGoBy @TheWordJar @ScarletQuill
This series just keeps getting better and better. Death finally meets up with the other Horsemen, it does not go well. Tons of political intrigue, broken promises, general backstabbery, armies on the move, and a wolf and crow might control everything. This is my favorite comic since reading Saga.
1. French toast, bacon, and hash browns, although I won't turn down good corned beef hash.
2. The Olde Jaol Steakhouse and Tavern. It is an old county jail that has been converted to a restaurant. You eat in the old jail cells.
3. I'll read while snacking, but not during a meal.
4. Cinnamon maple french toast.
Thanks for the tag @Laughterhp !
