I had a fantastic weekend in Nashville with @cobwebmoth . Centennial Park was such a great place to walk and explore! The Parthenon is awesome! The statue of Athena is quite impressive. We found Cerberus there as well. I finally bought my first Vonnegut across the street from there.
Who else thinks that the AT&T building should have the Eye of Sauron on top of it?

Karkar I agree totally about the AT&T building!!! 2d
britt_brooke Happy you all had fun! Eye of Sauron, yes! 😆 Here, it‘s not very creatively known as the Batman Building. Hope you enjoy your first Vonnegut. I doubt it‘ll be your last. 😉 2d

Thanos has been my favorite comic villain ever since I first read The Infinity Gauntlet. He has a great back story, incredible power, and an undying love for Death. In the comics, Thanos' love for her is what motivates him to kill entire universes, and whatever pesky heroes stand in the way (sorry Cap). My favorite comic series of all time is Annihilation. Thanos plays a big part in it, and is great as ever.

Caterina That's so interesting, because I can only assume Thanos's name comes from θάνατος, thanatos, the Greek word for death. 4d

I managed a few #GraphicNovels this past week for #BFC and #MayMadness . I also realized that I can't walk and read at the same time. 😋 Eternals was a re-read, and was as good as I remembered. Firefly comics are always enjoyable. Magic Order and Unnatural are both pretty good. Desert Star is a so so tale of Western revenge that has too many trigger warnings to list.

I was able to read a few graphic novels, and I managed a little Litsy time to try to be encouraging to my fellow #BFC people.

While preparing some reading fuel for this afternoon, my daughter asked for a cup of the coffee that I had made. I replied "There can be only one!" Then I realized that I'm old, and my kids have no idea what the Highlander movies or TV show are, so I just shook my head and made her a cup of coffee. ?

JanuarieTimewalker13 I‘m old and I don‘t know Highlander either!! But now I guess I‘ll have to find out! 1w
JanuarieTimewalker13 Turns out my library has it!! 1986 was a weird year for me...guess I didn‘t get to the movies much, and I never watched TV. Thanks for the suggestion. It looks like fun! 1w

BookNAround We quote all sorts of movies that prove that we are definitely old but we eventually instituted a family movie night on Sundays where we bore the kids with the movies of our formative years. Haven‘t shown them The Highlander yet but we should! They don‘t always love the movies but they get the references now. 😂 1w

My son and I spent a few hours at a nice park today. I'm not sure how far we walked today, but we hit the 2 hour mark and decided to go to a local comic and game shop. They still had a bunch of the Free Comic Book Day selections, and their graphic novels and back issues were all 50% off! I went with a Firefly graphic novel and Mary Shelly: Monster Hunter.

They didn't have MEG: Generations in the Litsy database. This has been such a fun series! This is probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite of the MEG books. More giant sharks, way more other giant sea creatures, bad guys getting eaten, piracy, monster fights, awesome deep sea tech, and history's long awaited return of Titanoboa! An exciting read, right up to the cliffhanger ending. I need Steve Alten to finish the next book now! I need more giant sharks!😁

I've been sidelined with a knee injury for 8 weeks. Today my Dr lifted all restrictions! I can finally do stuff again! I really need to get more active, and this should give me the boost I need.
I'm crazy busy at work this time of year, so I only put down 1 audio book, 3 physical books, and 6 graphic novels.
My goals are to walk during my lunch breaks, get back in to my morning exercise routine at least 3 times a week, and give up soda...again.

Ohio Train Disasters | Jane Ann Turzillo

While not an overly cheery read, it did have a ton of interesting information about Ohio rail travel from the mid 1800s up to present day. It had detailed accounts of the worst train disasters in Ohio history. Tragic, but also full of the selfless heroics of the rescuers. I was somewhat surprised to find out that one of these happened a few miles from where I currently live.

I couldn't let May the 4th go by without finally making a Star Wars post. I decided to read my favorite Star Wars comic series again. This Darth Vader series was fantastic! I love how Kieron Gillen writes his character. I really wish that the movies could have fleshed him out the way the books and comics did. This Vader storyline would make a great miniseries. As far as workplace provided customer service propaganda goes, it was ok. Many examples of people going above and beyond to provide customer service, some to ridiculous lengths. Blanchard is trying really hard to convert these examples to a business model, but it never really comes together.

The other day @Clwojick told me about comicpunch.net . They have a huge free library of comics, manga, and more. One cool thing that I found was a complete chronological reading list of Marvel's amazing Civil War event from several years ago. It is contains 106 issues of every tie in that they made for Civil War, all in the order you need to read it in. They also have every issue of East Of West, and I can't recommend this enough.

Clwojick Is this not the greatest website ever? 😄😄😄 I have found so many great graphic novels that I had heard of prior to finding this website! (Prodigy, Blackbird, The Girl in the Bay, Blood Stain, Kim Reaper, Cellies, etc) I will definitely be using this website for the Graphic Novel week in #MayMadness. 😍 1mo

Pickpick

I really enjoyed this audiobook. It had a solid plot, likeable characters, and a great narrator. When a serial killer escapes custody on the way to his execution, he vanishes without a trace. It is only a matter of time before the killing begins again, so the FBI hire Carter Blake to assist their taskforce. Blake knows how to find people that don't want to be found. Can he stop the killer before the body count climbs too high?

1. The 90's. I might still be a little stuck there.
2. I'll always choose a hardbound book over anything else.
3. Older. I turned 40 last year. I'm still not happy about it.
4. Yes. I'm about 80 miles from where I grew up.
5. Will do! ☺

The World of Poo | Terry Pratchett

My book haul from yesterday. Nick Offerman, Roman and Egyptian intrigue, a graphic novel I've wanted forever, and The World of Poo! 💩 I love you Terry Pratchett. My Discworld library just got better. Unseen are my final #scififantasyswap #SFFS items. What could they be? I'll never tell...😀

Gezemice Terry Pratchett! 👍😊 2mo

Our #LMPBC book came in the mail today with a few extras.Thanks @Avanders ! You rock! I've been wanting to read Bad Monkeys ever since you posted about it. @cobwebmoth and I are both excited for the books, coffee and tea, and the candles smell amazing! Our daughter noticed the Hitchhikers themed candle, and immediately tried to steal it.😁

Avanders Yay!! 👏🏽👏🏽 I hope you guys enjoy the books... one of my favorites (aside from Bad Monkeys) is 2mo

I love all of the Pulp covers for classic novels that seem to be everywhere now. I had always pictured the hound of the Baskervilles as a really large dog, until now! Who would ever suspect the Jack Russel terrier of mauling people to death? Not even Sherlock.

rretzler So my first reaction is that the cover is very silly - it is giving me a good chuckle. I‘m fairly certain that was not the intention. 😝 2mo
rretzler And Sherlock looks very perplexed! 2mo

1. Sagittarius
2. I had a 20 work anniversary
3. Marvel's Earth X. I had forgotten how much they tried to imitate DC's Kingdom Come. Alex Ross does great work, but this is one of the few times I will admit that DC did something better than Marvel.
4. Sleep, read, coffee, hanging out with @cobwebmoth 😍
5. Will do!!

1. A classic Justice League graphic novel will do nicely for this.
2. Batman of course
3. Aquaman. I mean, if he can't make it to the life boat...he should be fine.
4. The can of shark repellant from the old Batman movie. I never get in a row boat without it.
