This wasn‘t amazingly groundbreaking, I‘ve sadly read all too many news stories like this. But, it was a nice & concise way to share the struggles many Muslims are facing in America today. #howjessreadsin2019

Does it ever make you sad to think about all the books that DIDN‘T exist when you were a kid?? I have like weird reverse FOMO about the fact that I would have LOVED books like this as a kid. #howjessreadsin2019

JanuarieTimewalker13 Thank you! You just taught me a term I didn‘t know! Fear Of Missing Out!! Love it!! I‘m on the border of boomer/gen X, so forgive me. Well, I had FOMO re: FOMO. Lol yes, I think of all the YA books that would‘ve have made teenage angst so much easier bc I would have realized I wasn‘t alone!! 42m

Not pictured in these stats: I did 25 push-ups & did the balance beam several times and jumped on the trampoline with my daughter (at open gym today). Decided I just would have fun with her, even though most parents just sit and watch their kids play. Once I got over my self-consciousness, I got a pretty good workout in! #bfc #bookfitnesschallenge

Notes from a Young Black Chef: A Memoir | Joshua David Stein, Kwame Onwuachi
post image
Pickpick

I love a good chef memoir. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This one has an interesting side of social justice too — with Kwame's notes on how his race influenced his experiences in kitchens (and in childhood). I think the only other black chef's memoir I've read is Marcus Samuelsson's "Yes Chef". I tried Michael Twitty's “The Cooking Gene”, but struggled to get into it, and ultimately didn't finish it.
Can anyone recommend any others? #howjessreadsin2019
