3.3 🌟

Violet and her mom got back to her hometown after the death of her sibling in a car accident. The town is basically a jail for The Beast, who's extra powerful and lives in the Gray. Violet is one of the four founders' family that inherit latent power from her bloodline to keep The Beast imprisoned.

The book lacks the aura of suspense and mystery in it.

The story brings us into this family, who went through death after death of daughters. First to disease, second to drowning, third to falling accident, fourth to plunging from cliff, people started to believe that the family was cursed.

I love the setting, the dreams, the nightmares, the scares. I rarely read mystery but I finished this book within 2 days, the audio really helps increase the suspense of the story.

Truthfully i stopped reading the series after the 1st book, but i recently picked it up again just so that i could read King of Scars.
It was okay I guess. The revelation of the third amplifier was a bit odd and didn't really fit with the mythical creature thingy. But overall, I love the world building and the magical system.

This book started really great, an orphan girl living as a con artist in Cairo, she has weird ability to detect sickness in people and heal people. In one of her performance as shaman she accidentally calls upon an ancient powerful warrior-djinn called Dara.
I can't say I don't like the book, it's just after arriving at Daevabad Nahri kinda lost her charm, and the backstory of the characters are pretty confusing and shrouded.

I'm having mixed feelings about this book. I'm constantly comparing this with The Kings of The Wyld, and the first book win big time. I just don't like Rose, she has this suicidal tendencies, given by her obsession to defeat her father's reputation and basically she's killing everyone because of it. But at the end of the book, i think i kinda get her and i guess sometimes you have to lose it all to understand the things you value most

Entire book dedicated for Kelsier? BRILLIANT!

This book serves as a closure and answers to so many questions about the events from book 1 to 3. This is a must-read for Final Empire fans 😆

Mistborn: Secret History | Brandon Sanderson

"Thievery was the most authentic form of flaterry. What could be more satisfying than knowing the things you possessed were intriguing, captivating, or valuable enough to provoke another man to risk everything to obtain them?
This was Kelsier's purpose in life, to remind people of the value of the things they loved. By taking them away."

This is an example of a slow book with a very enticing storytelling. It's amazing reading how much Tess grows up from the first chapter until the end. When I imagine the story will stop, it just keeps throwing things at you unexpectedly.
Super love it!

Well, I can never be objective whenever I read robb's books. I always picked up her book when I'm on a reading slump or just bored with the same old same old. There's something in the characters, their banters, their chemistry, and the mystery. In this book, robb points right out the crazy couple/murderer, who torture and kill for the sake of "love". It's a race, and definite good one. Super love Eve and Roarke, my no. 1 fav couple.

Finally finished with the trilogy 😍
If you love dying magic with a shade of alternate universe, and bad-ass female character, this is for you. What i love most about this book is Holland's past and his struggle with this power. This book is very emotional and much deeper than the previous two, a very beautiful ending for everyone. And i'm a sucker for happy ending.

IheartYA Loved the first one! Tried the second but I wasn't in the right mindset at the time. 1y
Weisubei It's a bit slow at the beginning in the second book, but after 50% of the book the plot is quite engaging. I have difficulty picking up the second and third book too because of the slow beginning, but totally worth it 😄😄 1y

Anoshe was a word for strangers in the street, and lovers between meetings, for parents and children, friends and family. It softened the blow of leaving. Eased the strain of parting. A careful nod to the certainty of today, the mystery of tomorrow.

Anoshe brought solace. And hope. And the strength to let go.

I'm not really invested in this book, maybe because I don't really like mystery / suspense kinda thing.
The book tells us a story of three young girls, who were drowned for witchery. Two hundred years after their death, the girls haunted the town by drowning boys every summer.

I picked this book mainly because of the cover, and the steam punk element. It's a classic good vs evil, seelie and unseelie court, with bad-ass strong woman character, and over-the-moon fae male. Great ending such a cliff-hanger. Though i binge reading this book with several others, but the ending is enough for me to pick up the second book.
