This book is fantastic if you love novels that are mostly vibes and not a lot of plot. That‘s my favorite so I LOVED this book! Interconnecting characters Maria, Sabine, Lottie, and Alice weave together into a book that spans centuries. Lesbian vamps! “Bury my bones in the midnight soil, plant them shallow and water them deep, and in my place will grow a feral rose, soft red petals hiding sharp white teeth.”

I‘m a vampire girl, what can I say? 3/5 of these are about vamps. I‘m currently reading another book, Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil with @MsRadioSilence and I would also add it to this list if I were done with it! So, dear reader, we close the onslaught of recs with monsters and mayhem. All horror, of course. #hauntedshelf #blackcatcrew #linehanloves

Book recs for #unhinged. Not lying when I say these ones are truly unhinged. I can tell you they‘re insane and amazing (they are) but I wouldn‘t fully be able to describe to you what the main idea is. Library at Mount Char is a book I gave 5 stars to. It‘s incredible! Couldn‘t tell you what happened without sounding like a lunatic tho. Check it out for yourself!! #hauntedshelf #blackcatcrew #linehanloves

Great books published in 2025! The Fallen and the Kiss of Dusk is the most recent installment of my favorite book series, The Crowns of Nyaxia. The world all of the books are set in is rich in mythology, politics, and intrigue. Another noteworthy book was Wake Up and Open Your Eyes. It‘s poignant for our times and written by one of my fave authors! #blackcatcrew #hauntedshelf #linehanloves

I‘m surprised by how little books I have with true covens in them. A lot of books I‘ve read are about singular witches and I felt like I wouldn‘t be fully following the prompt of #coven if I included them. #hauntedshelf #blackcatcrew #linehanloves

Now we are getting into my favorite subgenre of horror- Phantasmal. This category includes on of my all time favorite books, Ghosteaters by Clay Chapman. This book haunts me daily. Every book on this list has received 5 stars from me! #hauntedshelf #blackcatcrew #linehanloves

So many things can fit into #atmospheric. I chose two books that made me feel cold and alone. The loneliness in their mood and setting created a lasting impression and a hallmark in my mind of a good atmospheric book. #hauntedshelf #blackcatcrew #linehanloves

These books give me the same warm feeling a pumpkin spice latte gives me! They‘re the perfect fit for #pumpkinspice recommendations. #hauntedshelf #blackcatcrew #linehanloves

Autumn is my favorite season. It‘s the perfect weather, has the best holidays, and is the perfect time for some good books! My recommendations for #autumnal include The Haunting of Hill House and Pride and Prejudice. They seem to be unrelated but they are rereads that I love to do during the fall season! #hauntedshelf #blackcatcrew #linehanloves

As an avid horror fan, some books are just spooky and frightening without true terror. I love these books dearly, especially Carmilla! #frightful #hauntedshelf #blackcatcrew #linehanloves

Three book recommendations for #cosynights! These books make me want to get a cup of tea and curl up under a blanket! #hauntedshelf #blackcatcrew #linehanloves

Imagine if the Klu Klux Klan weren‘t just human dumpster piles of shit and instead they are MONSTER dumpster piles of shit. Then there‘s these badass women hunting and killing Klan members. You don‘t have to just imagine if you read this one!
The narrator, Channie Waites, was a true star. I enjoyed the story but her narration took this piece to a new level! Highly recommend the audio version! #blackcatcrew #hauntedshelf

A powerful punch in a novella. A discovery of love, identity, and autonomy. The descriptions in this book are so visceral and graphic, but I didn‘t feel as though it was gratuitous. Excellent and short read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️#blackcatcrew #hauntedshelf

It‘s a book I don‘t regret reading but would not really recommend. Good ideas but the writing was lackluster. The dialogue in this book was truly horrendous. There was not any character development. The climax of the book fell flat because the tension wasn‘t there. Overall, ⭐️⭐️. #hauntedshelf #blackcatcrew

My TBR for #hauntedshelf! I can‘t wait to begin these books. I‘ve been storing up my horror for the spooky season! #blackcatcrew

My recommendation for #hauntedshelf
This book is very poignant for American society today. I think about it constantly as I see what is happening in the news. #blackcatcrew

Prepare yourselves for an influx of reviews today. I gotta post for #twowitchesbeltane
So many books

Oh how I loved this book!! Horrifying in its gory guts but the true terror comes from the historical accuracy this novel stems from. The veil between the death and life has folded in on itself. Set in Victorian England, we follow a young trans boy through a powerful journey of surgery, spirits, “Veil Sickness”, and a fight for his freedom.
Thank you so much @Larkken for recommending this in #audlangspine25!! Absolutely incredible ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I‘m not gonna lie- I think I am too dumb for this one. I enjoyed the imagery and ideas of a haunted house as a generational curse, but I was confused very often. I don‘t have an issue with being confused. I‘m just not sure if that was the point or not.
Not for me but not a bad book!

A five star book that I cannot tell you anything about. This novel was so odd, graphic, and perplexing that I‘m left with no words to describe it. Definitely weird fiction. Loved it, hated it, couldn‘t put it down, begged myself to bail, guessed the ending, never had a clue of how it would end. It‘s like Schrödinger‘s cat but in novel form.

As a young teen, I was so excited to see myself as a hero through the eyes of Katniss Everdeen. Rereading this book as a teacher is different. This novel is dystopian horror- The children in the arena; the gruesome deaths of babes; the sick political games The Capital plays. This novel is a work of brilliance to reread as an adult. I am in awe while terrified for my students‘ futures. Books are political- education IS political. I am afraid.

DNF at 60%. The narrative was lackluster and the world building took a back seat to instant lust between a headmaster and student. It was okay to listen to while I was deep cleaning my house today, but I have no desire to continue it. #hailthebail

I would give anything to go back to Le Cirque des Rêves for the first time. I cried because it was over. Truly one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. A masterpiece. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Snowed in with no power but there‘s no better time to read!

My first book of 2025! A creepy folk horror that takes place in the woods of Appalachia, My Throat An Open Grave oozes feminine rage, religious shame, and generational trauma. Leah wishes for her baby brother to be taken by The Lord of the Wood, and he claims her offering. This book has a rich atmosphere and dream like depictions. Much thanks to @Larkken for an excellent first read of the year! 4/5 AuldLangSpine #ALspine

1,290 for #holidaybookdragons! I was very lax this go around, as exhibited by my sleepy pup. Wonderful times all around to celebrate the Yuletide season! #wintergames24 Thank you so much for hosting!

My 2024 stats! My original goal was 50 and I‘m so excited I made it to 75!

It can really be summed up with 4 middle aged white guys fuck around and find out. Also weird groupie pagans in the second part? buddy read with @MsRadioSilence for #twoyuletidewitches #holidaybookdragons #wintergames

I LOVED this book so much. I enjoyed Brom‘s Slewfoot as well, but this one kept me on the edge of my seat while simultaneously making me laugh out loud. It will definitely be a yearly reread for the Yuletide season! The narration was AMAZING! #holidaybookdragons #wintergames2024
