aperfectmjk @LiseWorks you cannot. I know some people have their bingo games set to where you can. The idea however, is that you're reading more books, to get more points. 7mo

October is almost here! I can't believe how fast it snuck up on all of us. I'll be hosting another round of #LittenListen. This event will run along side of #Scarathlon2021 as a great way to earn those extra points. In_the_stacks Just curious, can one audiobook be used to fill more than one bingo board square? E.g. if I read an audiobook that‘s a library loan, that‘s longer than 10 hours, and that has a shocking twist, does this count for 1 or 3 squares? 3y

aperfectmjk @Moony the card is optional. Yes, you can count every hour listened for extra points towards #Scarathlon2021. The bingo board is a bonus because you can earn 20 points per bingo, and 100 points for a coverall! 3y

aperfectmjk Hi @Hestapleton this is part of the Audioathon challenge, so ideally it should be listened to, but there's no way for me to prove that you did or did not listen to the whole thing. Yes, it would be 10 extra points plus however many hours listened. 3y

Twainy You buy on Audible. It‘s always yours. They have other benefits on top of that but even if you are no longer a subscriber, anything you bought or used a credit on remains yours. Scribd only gets you the benefit of streaming. Similar to paying for a library? 3y

SilverShanica You should check out Libro.fm. They are fantastic and they support indie bookstores by sharing profits. You can get most of the same stuff you can get from audible (except audible exclusives). 3y

ShananigansReads I love it. Yeah they might not have everything but they have a lot! And the price is so much better than $15/mo for one book. I‘ve used them for audio and ebooks and have had no problems. 3y

LibrarianRyan I agree with Libra.fm. I would also suggest chirp audiobooks. It‘s like bookbub but foe audios. They have daily deals and most audio books are decently cheep. 3y

ElizaMarie I haven't heard of this but.. I looked it up after I saw your post. I feel like I have somewhat of a decent selection on Libby and Hoopla to borrow books. I was thinking of getting rid of Audible too but. I don't know yet.. They have a lot of “free“ ones too! 3y

SconsinBookyBadger Scribd is cheaper than audible, but it can be challenging at times. The company doesn‘t exactly live up to the “unlimited” part. If you listen to the audiobooks casually it‘s fine. If you plan on streaming on a daily basis scribd will lock you out of accessing audiobooks until your subscription renews for the next month. 3y

SconsinBookyBadger I like it for the convenience of not dealing with library waiting lists and same time hate it because I‘m constantly locked out of my saved audiobooks because I spent too many hours listening to an audiobook. 3y

luvlee68 i have had scribd for over a year and love that i can read books on here when it isn‘t available at my local library. i don‘t like however that it doesn‘t sync to the furthest read page when i use other formats like overdrive / audible , i usually just read from my kindle or the kindle app - i have found when i am looking for an ebook that my library doesn‘t own 6 out of 10 times i can find it on scribd - has it‘s plus(+)& (-) 3y

aperfectmjk @Andrew65 I'm so glad people seem to be liking the idea. I still consider myself new to Litsy and I couldn't find any record of past audioathons, so I wasn't sure how receptive people would be. For me, audiobooks have become my main source for reading due to dry eye. 4y

Andrew65 @aperfectmjk I increasingly read a lot of audiobooks with my commuter and other work commitments, as well as time on Litsy where I lead two readathons a month. I‘m sure audioathons will be well received, even more so if it is a regular event and it becones more widely known. A great idea! 🙌 4y

Just buy an audiobook, download, and be done. I don‘t listen to a lot of audiobooks so a subscription isn‘t worth it to me but my soon-to-be hubs and I would like to listen to a few on our honeymoon. Hooked_on_books I agree with chirp books. They have good deals but a limited selection. Another option is libro.fm. You don‘t have to be a member to buy from them, though you get a better price if you are. They have a sale section that has discounted books and their overall selection is very good. 4y

-4 small travel cases
-3 convertible backpacks
-2 two backpacks (that I am never making again)
-10 book selves (Josh stoke one of the Dr. who fabric sleeves and I sent one in a swap)
-18 complete book huggers (went 2 in swaps)
-7 Book huggers that need snaps because I ran out.

I didn‘t realize I did so much till I put it all

Hooked_on_books I do the same thing as @ljuliel . It works really well. I have a farm and when I‘m amongst the plants, the leaves would otherwise yank the buds out of my ears and this way I can get a lot of audio in. 4y

Crazeedi My earbuds wire goes around the back of my head and so they stay in fine. It's my phone that's a problem when I dont have a pocket so I mostly wear an apron. This year I bought a case that my phone fits down in and it hooks on a belt I'm going to strap around my waist 4y

ljuliel @crazeedi. Yes it‘s handy to have pickets, isn‘t it ? When I wear clothes without them, you really notice how much you miss your pockets. 4y

Audio book question... Has anyone canceled their Audible subscription in favor of Libro.fm? What did you think? How does listening to Audible without a subscription work? You get to keep the books you‘ve downloaded correct? Thanks everyone!

DGRachel Yes, even if you cancel your Audible subscription, you retain access to everything you've purchased in the past. I actually have both, simply because Audible allows you to buy more credits for a discounted rate, rather than pay a member rate for additional books. I LOVE that Libro allows me to support my local independent bookstore, though. The cost of the membership (1 credit per month) is the same between the two. Libro has a really good... 4y

DGRachel ...selection. Audible does have some “exclusives” that I like, but I don‘t think you can go wrong with switching. 4y

sprainedbrain Yes! If you cancel Audible you still keep your books. I do it a couple times per year and then get sucked back in to rejoining again when they have a good deal. I love Libro.fm, too, but I don‘t have either subscription going most of the time because I use my library cards to get audiobooks as much as possible. 4y

Aimeesue Lisette Lecat does The No.1 Ladies Détective Agency series, and it‘s BRILLIANT. The stories are simple enough to be able to follow easily while driving, and Lecat is marvellous. I don‘t read the series, because it‘s such a letdown after having heard Lecat. 5y

Aimeesue On LibriVox, Mil Nicholson has done quite a few Dickens novels, and she is the best voice actress I‘ve ever heard. Even in scenes with five or six characters, you know exactly who‘s talking. Plus LibriVox books are free! 5y

Amandajoy I second @ReadingRover. I also like Jim Dale‘s Harry Potter (or any Jim Dale), Educated by Tara Westover, Matilda (narrated by Kate Winslet), the Winston Brother series from Penny Reid, and The Martian. I haven‘t had a good road trip in a bit, I used to road trip more often. I miss listening to a good audio book while driving down the highway! 5y
